I just hope they actually make an Elder Kings mod for CK3. I'm kind of worried that with the 3D portraits it's gonna be a lot more work to model all the different races of the Elder Scrolls games to make it look immersive and that that might put them off of Elder Kings for CK3
@@castor9683 I think something that'd help a lot is that almost all of the races in Elder Kings are humanoid and often just humans with small edits. So they wouldn't need an entirely new model or rig. From dev comments on their forums it sounds like it's not really possible to make a non-humanoid character that is also animated.

The dev's really took a closer looks to the mods out there. Now you can customize the sins and virtue right from the get go. But why there's only 5 virtue and sins tho?

I really feel that in medieval times people used every chance they could to swing people into their graces. With releasing prisoners there should be like -50% to the timer that keeps track of how long that lord will be mad at you. Useing the slider it would go from that -50% on the left and up to %150 super turbo hate bc you basically bankrupt him and his family? Giving the early game a chance to conquer but restabalize the land in less time, ie; months not years.
The Hellenistic period may be seen to end either with the final conquest of the Greek heartlands by Rome in 146BC following the Achaean War, with the final defeat of the Ptolemaic Kingdom at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, or even the move by Roman emperor Constantine the Great of the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople in AD 330. 867 is the earlier date you can start in Crusader Kings 3 so it doesn't make a lot of sense for it to be playable within the game's time frame. Technically, you could play it. It's there so you can potentially play as it. It's not really meant to be playable though.
What does the 'Hellenistic period' have to do with the religion? There were most certainly Greek pagans surviving post 330AD, with some groups like the Maniots surviving well into the the 9th century, which fits the 867 start date.
@@ParadoxGrandStrategy While it might not make sense for the period, it's still a pretty popular roleplay element for those who focus on restoring the Roman Empire (and some Byzophiles). Restoring a dead religion is pretty unique and something I look forward to every Roman Restoration playthrough I do in CK2. Maybe it's something you guys could consider adding for the Byz/Roman DLC down the line. Restoring other dead religions could be a cool mechanic as well.
2:46 I wonder why they decided that success in Holy Wars will reduce fervor. I am guessing it's a balance thing to reduce blobbing but it just doesn't seem to make sense that winning in holy wars will reduce religious fervor.
It does make sense. People don't care so much about religion until there is an issue. No one cares about the crusades until Muslims started conquering and shutting off access to Christians so this increased fervour. Once it was captured back everyone calmed down decreasing fervour. You didn't see repeated crusades and expansion only defensive crusades to try to hold onto Christian land. So as a game mechanic makes sense.

Also, what you describe sounds more in tune with controlling a holy site, rather than holy wars in general. And in the game mechanic of Crusader Kings, crusades and holy wars are two different things. Plus, there's another aspect that doesn't make sense with your explanation. For example, if a Christian from Wales cares about a defensive holy war happening in Edessa or something (since religious fervor seems to affect the whole Christendom), why doesn't he/she care about an offensive holy war happening in the same place, Edessa?

A Head of Faith should be able to hold more religion. For example the Apostolic Church and Insular Christianity should be able both to fall under the control of the Catholic Papacy. And maybe even when it comes to uniting all Christian churches, the Orthodox church might still hold to its traditions but accepting the Catholic Pope, like Greek Catholicism
They could for Catholicism implement subordinate regional non-Roman rites. Ex: Byzantine rite, Assyrian rite, Greek Rite, etc. Also for Apostolics and Insulars to be fully integrated through events.
They confirmed (in one of the Discord QA sessions I think) that, holy sites are the same as the original faith of the founder. Holy sites are even more powerful than in ck2, and this is a simple mechanic that can't be cheesed. I do hope we can eventually determine at least one of the holy sites, perhaps via a costly separate decision after founding the religion, but for release I can see why the current method is good enough.

despite the fact that it would be weird to see the entire globe organised in a feudal way, the amount of titles and charakters the game engine has to keep track of would most likely melt your system.
@Qui-Gon Jinn AGOT does not even encompass the entire world of ASOIAF. Sothoryos is barely touched and it is unknown how far north westeros truly goes. also, there is another northern continent, presumably without inhabitants because its too cold.
It should definitely be feasible, otherwise you couldn't have mods like A Game of Thrones or Elder Kings. Performance, though... well, adding the entire world would certainly slow it down. And I don't know how you could make America and Oceania feudal, but even if it's just "fantasy feudalism" I'd be on board with it.
So if I create a completely new religion instead of basing it off of an existing one where will the holy sites for that new religion be? I can imagine one would naturally be your capital or the nearest church in your domain but the other would likely be within the same region correct?

I was going to pre-order ck3 but the more videos I see of it the more dumbed down it appears to be so I'll be holding off until I see some reviews after release I hope I'm wrong as I love ck2 but we'll see soon enough :/

Will you add more counties to Ireland and the like since CK2's Holy Fury map has quite a few more counties in such places?

The same goes for certain Islamic faiths in the game as well. Some of them are just schools of Islam which fell under the same Caliph.

The map is most likely a 2D image of some variety, not a 3D globe...
it should be doable espessially with the preformence inprovements but would probably still be really laggy

Finally they added Insular/Celtic Christianity, Norway should be Insular Christian too.
Insular Christianity tho doesn't make sense to me wasn't pre Christian Ireland Gaelic pagan.
