What hostile scheme are you looking forward to the most?
The reverse double incest scheme sounds interesting, could be fun to sabotage a foe with.
The ones with 95% success chance which will inevatibly be failing on the most crucial of times and get me in a world of trouble - unexpected challenges are the spice of life!
Is it possible to legalise murder? I have an idea for a bloodthirsty kingdom where being strong/smart enough to not be killed is the only legitimacy you need
Fabricate a claim on the kingdom of Bavaria
There are only 3...
*I think I will celebrate with... beer.*
Bavarian beer
Chicken for dinner to night i think
That's one less threat to the establishment
Alfred might be a weirdo, but have you seen his beard?
A weirdo, beardo! :D
Glorious, m'lord, indeed
I think he has bits from his last meal still in it...
it is so cool to hear you narrate an official ck3 trailer
What's up with your beard fetish?
Seems like a decent assassination rework. If you didn't have 100% plot power you could't do anything. Here it seems like you can be more active in getting it to work.
And now it's not totally random like in CK2 where you just had to hope people hated your target and if they didn't there was nothing you could do.
@@jeffersonclippership2588 Not quite true. You could bribe or sway potential schemers, you could send your spymaster to build a spy network to increase plot power, and you could use intrigue focus to spy on your target and tarnish their reputation.
@@rodrikforrester6989 Moreover you can easily cheese the CK2 plot system by just invitng people with high intrigue and traits like deceitful, cruel, impaler etc. to your court and then invite them to your plot which quickly increases the plot power.
@@castor9683 That only works if you're plotting against someone in your court, though.
@@rodrikforrester6989 True, but in my games at least people in my court are the main characters I plot against anyway
I’m already ‘scheming’ to take the day off when this releases.
Me too lol I have already applied for a weeks leave from work

I hope you boss doesn't have a high intrigue stat.
@@dipanjandasgupta6170 How's that week off work coming?!
@@Dr.Johnboy We're gonna need an update now aren't we? Lol
I want a hostile scheme where you don't actually want to murder, but annoy the target and make them feel watched, like moving his things or putting a box somewhere in his usual path so he hits his toe. Just to make them go crazy.
This could probably be modded in easily. All you would need to have is a specific scheme that raises stress significantly and gives some sort of debuff for an extended time.
@@antonfleck5372 On twitch stream last week, there was an opportunity to make your scheme target sick instead of killing him.
@@martinian8 Yeah, but that was just a variation of the murder plot. They started a murder scheme, only in this instance it gave a health debuff instead of trying to kill outright. Players might want to mentally torture a character instead of straight up killing them.
Gaslighting, or given the period, candlelighting.
oh yeahhh thatd be great. as the plot goes on they’d accumulate more and more stress build up, eventually turning on those closest out of fear... perhaps even ordering the execution of an innocent they thought was plotting to harm them. thus making them a tyrant, making a once great king ruin himself, delicious!
I cant wait for ck4 to come out so I can finaly get ck3 for free
and then pay 300$ to get all the dlc's.....
@James R I wouldn't really call it a bargain even though paradox makes great games their dlc policy is in my and most peoples opinion a little bit on the negative side even though they keep updating and adding new things to old and new games alike which is a very positive thing it would be better to either get the dlc's on a sale or to lower the price. That's just my opinion.
Yes well that should be ready around 2028, see you then!

I need to ask: Will the map include small but significantly important places like Channel Islands?
Maybe once we get a naval dlc? The C.I were mostly important for trade and naval ZOC.
As a Channel Islander myself I was pleased to notice them on the map during the dev livestream. Not sure if they'll be directly playable though, and not apart of another county/duchy.
@@aedican9719 We'll be lumped into some part of the Duchy of Normandie, as per usual. Just too small and surrounded by honestly more important things.
@@andrewgallichan5032 Yeah, that seems the most likely. Instead of individual counties it'll probably be one called Channel Islands or a more time/"region" apporpriate name.
@@andrewgallichan5032 Now I'm wondering how many C.I folk are Grand Strategy nerds. If any of y'all watching this live in Alderney, I've got the Crusader Kings boardgame to play!
You know, I really wasn't expecting to make a 5 minute video to triple my enthusiasm for this game. I can think of so many possibilities and so many different things I could try.
I never pre order games, or buy special editions off the bat, but i've spent so many years of my life playing Ck2, that it really seems like a no brainer.
Beware, the AI might still be braindead and leave the game a cakewalk by the time you've learned the basics. The game looks mechanically sound from what we've seen, but we have not yet seen full, unedited gameplay.
yeah dude, no matter how much you trust the devs or think youre gonna love the game i always hold off on pre ordering just in case
Jens Danbolt I have seen one review (although from some time back, when many testers where given a test) where they say AI didn’t even care about the new way to wage war and was generally easily beaten. Maybe they worked on it or these people were too good though.
@@flowrianeast42 in general paradox games tend to be kinda shit at launch, people forget just how bad eu4 was before it got any patches or dlc
Essam Mahmood for example, EU4 1.30 and Emperor at launch...
There should be a third type of hook. A "pact." If you and another person were both involved in some scheme together, you have a pact. You could unveil that information to hurt the other person, but to do so would out yourself and result in you receiving the same negative effects that they do.
For instance, if you helped another person in a scheme to assassinate the king, then the two of you have a pact. You could unveil that information that they killed the king, but to do so, you'd have to unveil that you, too, killed the king.
Zebo12345 this is such a good idea! Maybe allow like this to also extend to hidden society members too
Isn't this the same as a mutually strong hook?
@@einsfuffzich Not quite. Blackmailing other people isn't nearly as effective when they have the exact same dirt on you as you do on them. Your target is gonna be less likely to oblige your demands if they think your bluffing.
It is _like_ a mutually strong hook in some ways, but in others it's more volatile and less weaponize-able than hooks are.

Wow... you guys have exceeded my expectations. I expected this to be a reskin but it seems like most of what was in CK2 in in the third and the foundation you have to build upon is exciting. Great work!!
So cool to see OPB have the opportunity to collaborate.
Why... won’t... you... RELEASE?!?! *insert angry oblivion guard noises*
Just to help you guys get into the role: Imagine being someone who was born to rule, from a young age you're told that a king is all-powerful. So when you become a king and take a trip around your kingdom, stopping at a bar where you sleep with one of the wenches. Then, due to time requirements for information to travel you might find out half a year after the fact someone did actually see you
Hooks expire if not used in a set amount of time.
Is it possible to legalise murder in Ck3? I have an idea for a bloodthirsty kingdom where being strong/smart enough to not be killed is the only legitimacy you need
If I remember correctly the dev's mentioned in a diary on religion that what is considered a crime or not is very much tied up with the faith people follow. So therefore if you were to reform a faith (or create a heresy of the one you follow to begin with) it would be possible to create a faith in which lying, cheating and murdering were considered virtues rather than sins.
Isn't that just open inheritance. Correct me if I'm wrong
Would be cool if I could make duels legal, and then you can’t say no to a duel, because I don’t really want to make it legal to kill cowardly, but only in a fair fight. I always liked warrior lodges in ck2, but it was a bit annoying that I couldn’t duel anyone I want, but only could duel certain people.
the GoT mod for CK2 actually did something like this with religion. There was a reform option that made it so that kinslaying and so on wasn't taboo
Man, this hook system is gonna be spicy. I love it.
This game would be magnificent if they also included rise to power mechanics or colonizable vinland and macaronesian isles
When the Game is out I expect modders to 3D model Petyr Baelish into the game so I can use him as my spymaster

Will be be able to auto invite people to scheme or will we have to Manually do it all the time.
well you can already do that in ck2 so why should it be any different
HYPED to see Insular on the religious map :D
"This means that a character that despises the very core of your personality is extraordinarily unlikely to turn into your lover, no matter how hard you try."
TOO CLOSE TO HOME, PARADOX
Upon looking at the religion tab, I see that you can also create your own christian sect??
Yeah you can create your own heresies for any religion. You can also just create an entirely new religion instead. It’s similar too the reformation mechanic for pagans in ck2 but much more detailed and available to all religions instead of just pagans.
OH YEAH! LETS DO THIS!
oh my! He's done it. OPB has gone official!
Finally something usefull to do with the intrigue focus.
Wait if I am my target’s Spymaster, will I still give my target scheme resistance?
Can’t wait to see what the mods for this game are like.
I'm especially interested in total conversions; and what Loverslab community will make out of this game, both from a degenerate's and a mod nerd's perspective.
I can't wait for this game aaaaaaaaaaaa
I think it'd be a good idea if characters with the honest trait had the option to refuse to be hooked, to say "Tell everyone my secret! I'd rather they find out than help you murder someone!" and take the resulting fame hit.
if someone have a strong hook on you but your spymaster also find a strong hook on the one blackmailing you, i wonder how it will plays out
This game seems to just get better and better 😊
Beyond happy to see a section of the religion crime doctrines dedicated to Witchcraft. Hope the more zany and mystic side of ck3 is a little more grounded than it was in ck2.
I'm more excited for this than I was when I got my driver's license
Scheme: carry writing desk to duchess' castle
Can you just openly be an evil person and not let/care if anyone blackmails you? Is there an infamy mechanic?
There’s a dread mechanic in which you scare people into liking your character
I assume you can probably refuse blackmail threats but they reveal your secret which gives you penalties.
So yes you would be openly evil.
You get a choice when someone blackmails you and you can just say no to their request, which makes them expose you. There is also a dread mechanic, in which you compensate for people disliking you by just threatening them into submission. I think you can get dread by torturing, executing and such.
seems a lot more in depth than ck2 to be honest i was expecting a clone game with some touched up character models and maps
This game is going to see me through the entirety of the pandemic. I can't wait.

Ugh September 1st can't come fast enough. Hurry up pls we dying of lockdown boredom over here.
Does the game look dark to anyone else? Like when I turn my phone brightness all the way down.
any chance to polish subtitles in game?
I feel like the religion-based opinion modifiers should really be weighted on a character's piety. If a character is (relatively) apathetic about their religion, I don't think they would care quite as much about a ruler's lechery as a zealot would. That is, piety as a personality trait rather than a currency as in CK2.
Piety in CK2 isn't the character's actual piety; it's the sum of their piety as seen through the eyes of others, as a parallel to Prestige. Piety as a personality trait was ALSO a thing, it was called "Zealous", the counterpart being "Cynical".
@@Silfir Right, I'm just kind of thinking about how it could go if there was like a 0 to 100 rating of how pious a character is.
Will we have to pay extra to play in earlier times and different nations like ck2?
All nations are playable upon release. You have the start date options of 867 (Viking Age) and 1066 (High Middle Ages) upon release.
@@isaacwilcox3010 Nice! Thank you for the info.
Is there a system where if someone publicly reveals another characters secrets that it becomes a "rumor" (with the person making the claim listed), or is it taken as a given by other characters? I suppose for this to work really well, there would also need to be a way to fabricate lies about someone to make rumors, making it more difficult to determine what's true or false about someone. You would then have to rely on their (known) honest and dishonest traits to gauge their credibility. Being a known 'honest' schemer would actually have a lot of advantages with such a system.
There is a scheme called "Fabricate hook" which I assume gives you a false secret which you can use to blackmail normally. It would then be interesting to see if that false secret can be revealed so you become known as a murderer even if you didn't do anything.
god. i just wana play it already~
Hi. im new here. Would like to ask if i need to play the recent version of ck like ckII,to understand ckIII?
You don't need to play CK2 to understand CK3. Of course the knowledge gained from playing CK2 will help you to play CK3 since the mechanics of the two games are very similar. The base game of CK2 is free right now so there is no problem in checking it out.
@@TallDude404 Thank you so much for the info man. keep safe!

it looks like the game has already passed the beta testing........but why does it wait for a 1.5 month before release?
Are the events going to be moddable? I can imagine it getting pretty stale if we're going to leave it up to the devs only to write them. Let everyone help.
All their current gen games have the events fully moddable, I see no reason why they would stop that with this one.

there's gonna be a character creator in the future as a free dlc, but at the moment of release, no

Mooore, mooorrrre, MOOOOOORE!
I kinda hate that my seduction schemes on my own courtiers take several months, I swear, how far someone is doesn’t matter. The actual strength of the scheme doesn’t really make it that much faster, it just increases the success chance and secrecy.

Proud Bavarian speaking slowly is weird.. still love it though.
2:47 - Why is she wearing armor?
She's a countess. Probably at war and leading her armies. IIRC in CK2 as well, a female ruler could lead her own armies regardless of whether law or religion allowed it. After all, it's their own army.
@@realmorrowind3
Don't know if any female rulers actually did (historically) with the exception of Queen Elizabeth, but okay.
Æthelflæd of Mercia led some battles against the vikings, and Eleanor of Aquitaine joined the Crusade with a small detachment, for some examples. But these were definitely rare exceptions.
But that's irrelevant anyway, I never implied anything about the historicity of this. I was literally just saying that what was going on in CK3 here is probably the same as what went on in CK2.
