Im a company man fan hes my boy. But I do love and listen too older songs my whole life with artist such as Burle Ives, Roger Whittaker and Johnny Cash to name a few.
Man it sucks that Johnny Cash is considered an “oldie” I feel so old hahaha! It’s funny you mention him though as he attributed the song “Don’t Take Your Guns To Town” as using the tune for this song
Ophelia Cantley Holy shit. My mom would do the EXACT same thing. I learned to hate this song because every time I heard my mom sing it, it would invade my dreams and I'd know she was heading to my room to wake me up and tell me to get ready for school. And no matter how much I'd keep trying to go back to sleep, she'd sing the song until I got up. I would be so annoyed. Last time I remember her doing it I was probably 8 years old. I'm 22 now. I love my mom.
This is amazing, 'cause my Mom back in the 40's woke up me and my brother every morning, raising the shades and singing this song, Such a fond memory and a cheerful way to start the day.
Ophelia Cantley my mom would sing it to put me to sleep when I was a baby. she sings it to my daughter too. brings a slight tear to my eye. oh the memories and how they come up.
This was one of the many songs my wonderful Dad would walk around the house singing, and I recall his voice being even better than Bing's. Wish I had a tape of him singing.. Glad we have Bings version to bring back great memories.
My mother would sing this to me when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. I didn't know who sang it. I thought about it when my wife said let's go eat at Red Robbin's.
I just found out that whenever a new year comes along certain songs from a certain year becomes public domain, and I found this song on the list. This year is songs from 1926.
My grandma used to take care of me and this was the song we would sing together all the time. She died in 2018 and im just realizing now how much worse everything is
My nannan loved me and my twin sister singing this to her she would always say go on girls sing it for me please. I learnt the song in about 1996 she recorded it on her phone when we was older . It was her ringtone she passed away tonight I'm just listening to the song and remember the happy memories.
Since -- as Company Man shows -- this was the song that inspired the Red Robin name, the chain should definitely have this song (and this catchy version by Bing) in its commercial. It's a great homage to the restaurant's roots, and the tune is so catchy, it's sure to send new customers bob, bob, bobbing along to their nearest Red Robin!
Awww I love this song, brings back good memories from the 90s when my grandmother would sing this to us when we wake up in the morning =) Definitely gonna send this to her
I'm here because my brother and I remembered some lyrics to a jingle our grandpa sang to us every morning. So we asked our mom about it and she recalled all the lyrics. We asked our grandpa and he confirmed that HIS dad sang that to him. So we did some research and discovered that he mixed lyrics from this song and an old Kellogg cereal commercial.
When the red red robbin comes bob bob bobbin' along he brings... the fries.... and then you take the seasoning, and give it a shake shake shake all day lonnngggg
I just Love this song! The Great Creative Writer Janis Kent wrote a short piece this morning, including reference to this song. I'm so Thankful She did, Great Song. Thanks Bing. Thanks Janis. Thanks for the Memories!
I was first introduced to this song via Fred Penner. He was (and still is) a Canadian children's entertainer in the late 80's and early 90's. Most of his songs were covers of classics. Every spring, when the robins start singing again, I can't help but think of this song.
Interesting trivia - The song helped inspire the name of the American casual dining restaurant chain Red Robin: the owner of the original restaurant, in the University District of Seattle, sang in a barbershop quartet which frequently sang the song, and in the 1940s he renamed his restaurant "Sam's Red Robin"
I am here because I had a "45" my parents put in my "listening" (white Privilege) drawer.. other 45s I had.. was Puff the Magic Dragon, Jackson 5, The Osmonds, The Monkee's lol
I was born in 1953 I remember growing up and my mom was always singing this song and take me out to the ballgame song I'm 70 years old now and I still remember the singing of my mom

Bing's influence on Dean Martin really shows here.
As soon as the singing started, I thought, “Wow, Bing sure sounds like Dean!”, but it’s the other way around, of course
When the red red robbin comes bob bob bobbin' along he brings... the fries.... and then you take the seasoning, and give it a shake shake shake all day lonnngggg

I like the way Chyler Leigh sings this song. It’s much more of a lullaby-esque style
They played this to wake us up every morning in Germany during the Korean War.
When the red red robin comes Bob Bob bobbin
When the red red robin comes Bob Bob bobbing

When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along, along
There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts throbbin' his old sweet song
Wake up, wake up you sleepy head
Get up, get up, get out of bed
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red
Live, love, laugh and be happy
What if I were blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers
Rain may glisten but still I listen for hours and hours
I'm just a kid again doing what I did again,
singing a song
When the red, red robin
comes bob, bob, bobbin' along
Musical Interlude
What if I've been blue,
now I'm walking through fields of flowers
Rain may glisten
but still I listen for hours and hours
I'm just a kid again
doing what I did again,
singing a song
When the red, red robin
comes bob, bob, bobbin'
When the red, red robin comes
bob, bob, bobbin' along
Hi there Red!
