Watched this for the action when I was a kid.
Watched it again for the emotions, character portrayal, great plot and life lessons as an adult. It is not just nostalgia, every scene has a thought put carefully behind it. It still amazes me till this day how great the Raimi Spiderman trilogy was.

I didn't like the 3rd one very much. But it had some of the best scenes in the trilogy.
My favorite part is when he strikes MJ, which causes him to rip off the Black suit. Something is so primal about that scene showing another side to Parker that we didn't see previously.
It reminds me of Parker in the comics after King Pin tried to assassinate Aunt May.

Spider-Man 2 is my favourite film of all time. I watched the Rami films relentlessly as a kid, I had all the toys and costumes.
This film is so iconic and it has some of the greatest scenes in any superhero film. Like it really is The Dark Knight of Marvel Films
My 3 favourite scenes in this is are the scene with Uncle Ben/Telling Aunt May the truth, “He’s Back!” and when he lets MJ go, puts on his mask, looks back at MJ and swings off into the night

You’ve gotta hand it to Sam Raimi. Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin was a hard villain to top but Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius/Doc Ock manages to do it. In the novelization the arms call Dock “Father” and when he dies in the river the arms try to wake him up and its pretty sad

This must be the best superhero film with a Marvel character? I think it's more complete than even the Avengers movie or original Iron Man etc.
Doctor Octopus is such a well fleshed-out character. The call-back frame to the classic comic episode 'Spiderman No More' was lovely.
Spiderman 2 is such a good, tight movie. Directed by Sam Raimi with his awesome focus, love of tormenting the lead characters (which partly comes from often directing his friends/brother, like in this film), semi-dark humour, and slapstick moments (as in Evil Dead 2 etc). He goes right back to Xena and Hercules etc, which had that awesome deft touch too. Almost every film he does is, in a way, a romance about nerds etc.

This is one of my favorite superhero movies. When Doc Oc realized what he was doing and redeemed himself. That's an incredibly powerful moment. When Laura loved "Go get 'em tiger....". Yes, we all felt the same way. Maybe you noticed it but you didn't show it in your video... At the very end when Peter left and Mary Jane had a face of concern and fear for herself. It's an incredibly powerful moment and so real. Fantastic acting and music.
I didn't watch your summary fully then watched it again... I made a comment in your Q&A video about you two seeming much more mature for your age. Which as I said in the comment, is a good thing. When you said "He needed to feel he's not alone out there". That is incredibly understanding.
BTW, New Yorkers really are like that. I moved here several years ago and stayed for that reason. New Yorkers will take care of their own. Even if it's a risk to themselves. I love my peeps!

Your jokes have been on point for the entire movie, Magy, just the perfect amount of dark and sassy, shocking Laura 😂
At the start, showing how Peter has such a hard time balancing his day to day job with the superhero duty - this paints a very realistic picture of the superhero idea.
I really liked how you thought about the physics of the pizzas getting squished, your inner nerd shining out is a wonderful thing to see.
Another very wise commentary from you - pointing out "the way of the superhero" and how Peter is very much on it: no appreciation, constant struggle and he keeps doing it to keep everyone safe.
Otto Octavius' introduction was great, imparting so much wisdom onto Peter before the tragic accident that turns him into Doc Oc.
The opportunity to see how Peter's emotional instability, his internal anguish, actually affects his powers - that's such a unique thing, often times overlooked when it comes to superheroes.
"The power of the sun in the palm of my hand" - a line for the ages, spelling the doom of that project and bringing only tragedy to everyone.
Seeing how supportive aunt May has been through the movie, constantly helping Peter, not wanting to be a burden, it's heartwarming and you noticing that is beyond beautiful.
"I'm Spider-Man no more" - a perfect example of how life can eventually wear down even the strongest person, making them give up or at least take a break.
That fight scene on the train is nothing short of incredible, especially considering how long ago this movie was released. The people finally showing their appreciation and trying to protect Peter from Doc, beautiful scene, hitting right in the feels.
The moment Doc sees Peter face, you can see him returning to "normal", deciding to help him end the experiment even if the cost is his life.
Harry is going straight from the frying pan into the fire. In cruel twist of fate, throwing that dagger into the mirror (an action marking the rejection of his father's dark ambitions) reveals the Green Goblin's lair and implicitly, embracing his father's dreams for revenge.
At the end, MJ' unhappy face as Peter swings out to fight crime - that's very telling and seets the tone for the next movie.
Thank you for the incredible reaction, it's been a pleasure watchin you and especially seeing how much more insight you have after a second time watchin this movie, Magy

Fun Fact: J. Jonah Jameson has said in comics the reason he keeps pestering Spider-Man is because he wants Spider-Man to always prove him wrong. He said he was there on the night of his tv performance (The wrestling match in the first movie, R.I.P. Randy Savage aka Bonesaw McGraw) and saw that he was a spectacular performer, but he should have stayed that way because it wasn't very heroic to let a robber go and kill someone. He hired Peter not only for his good shots, but because when Peter called to set up time to sell the photos, he did a background check and saw that it was Peter's Uncle who died that night and wanted Peter to be have the chance to have an outlet. He felt that if Peter thought Spidey was responsible, then he deserved justice, but if he thought Spidey was innocent, he deserved to do whatever he could to make Spidey look good, even if JJJ didn't believe in his innocence. Over the years he realized that any time he ran a story that talked about Spider-Man was a bad guy, he tried harder to be a good guy; so even if he was responsible for Ben's death, he was doing everything he could to right that wrong. It's most evident in Amazing Spider-Man #36 and the issues following. Spidey thought he would get blamed for "letting" 9/11 happen, even some angry New Yorkers blamed him, and all the other heroes, but JJJ wrote that the people of NY and of the world need to have realistic expectations of their heroes, even Spider-Man. The responsibility rested on the shoulders of those who flew the planes, and those who made the plan. While yes, Spider-Man and the others have power to stop things like that, sometimes they just can't. The mark of their heroism, even Spider-Man's heroism, is to look the people who want them dead; the people blaming them for tragedy, look them in the eye, and still offer them help.
(3:31) Speaking of his money issues: Stan wanted Spider-Man to not only appeal to kids, but to adults as well, so there were times he was plagued by real life adult problems. In Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 1963, Spidey saves a wealthy man from some tragedy; in gratitude the man wrote out a pretty sizeable check, but put the name "Spider-Man" on it. When Spidey went to cash it, since it was such a large sum of money, they needed a photo ID and his face to confirm. Spidey had to walk away from good money because he couldn't reveal his identity.
Spiderman 2.1 is the better version of this, if only to see JJJ jumping around his office in Spidey's suit.
The boys on the train that hand him his mask back are Tobey MaGuire's real life brothers.
Bruce Campbell's cameos were going to culminate with an appearance in Spider-Man 4 as Mysterio. "It helps maintain the Illusion." He was the ring announcer in the first movies as his first break in show business, then the usher as a way to be closer to the theatre industry, then in 3 as the maître d as disguise and infiltration research.
They filmed Aunt May's Hero speech in two ways, one where she talks to Peter as Peter, and one as if she secretly knew he was Spider-Man. The one where she secretly knew he was Spider-Man won out.

Other than Spider-Man trilogy, you should also watch Brothers (2009), which also starred Tobey Maguire as well. And it also co-starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman, who are also in the MCU

34:39 No, no, no. This is not how it works in the US. In the US, since at _least_ as far back as the 1920's, we've made it a point to design trains with the _dead_ man's switch in the cockpit. That's a _safety_ mechanism; a switch that the engineer _has_ to keep pressure on to _prevent_ the brakes from engaging. If the engineer dies, passes out, is incapacitated or removed from the engineer space, pressure is taken _off_ the dead man's switch, the brakes _engage_ and the train _stops._
The default function for a train is with brakes _engaged;_ not brakes _loose._ Any _damage_ to the train is going to _restore_ that function.

Andrew is my favorite Spiderman and Peter Parker. Tobey will always be iconic to me, but I'm not gonna be one of those toxic stans who puts their opinion in all caps to get seen. Tom is good too, but not it for me. There's just something about Andrew, and I'm not gonna change my mind because other people's opinions.

Sam Raimi is at his best with these Spider-Man films without the pressure of studio interference (looking at you spider-man 3). I vividly remember seeing the surgery room scene in theaters as a kid, being genuinely terrified of Doc Ock's mechanical arms. Raimi blends the super-hero with horror genres is such a tasteful manner.

Simmons was perfect as J,J,J...mannerisms, look, etc. Same for Doc Ock...both were twins of the comic characters.32:12-Ya can't lie to women about love--they have a built-in super-power. 34:14..My favorite scene of the movie-the train fight-what great camera work! Spider-Man is, by definition, a fairly _young_ character. He's usually around the age of a high-school senior or a college freshman. This makes him one of the _few_ characters that the _male_ actor casted to play him is able to age _out_ of. So when Tobey Maguire made this movie, he was young enough. Since then, he has aged out and the role has passed to Andrew Garfield has has _also_ aged out, passing the torch to Tom _Holland._
Of course, you understand, this means _Tom Holland_ is not long for this role, _either._
