    When a failed nuclear fusion experiment results in an explosion that kills his wife, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina) is transformed into Dr. Octopus, a cyborg with deadly metal tentacles. Doc Ock blames Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) for the accident and seeks revenge. Meanwhile, Spidey's alter ego, Peter Parker, faces fading powers and self-doubt. Complicating matters are his best friend's (James Franco) hatred for Spider-Man and his true love's (Kirsten Dunst) sudden engagement to another man.

    Sam Raimi was known as a horror director before these films, so that scene was an homage to his roots. He directed all three of these first Spider-Man movies, but no others. He DID direct an upcoming MCU film however, and it may rely on his horror roots as well, but we shall have to see. The three MCU Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland were also all directed by the same person, Jon Watts.

    I like the reason why they made the webs actually come out of him in these movies. There reason was during the making of the movie they thought well if you could make web shooters wouldn’t you just make a bunch and sell them for a lot of money 🤑instead of taking pictures for a ok 😐amount of money .

    • @owenyoung9915
      @owenyoung9915 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True, although I don’t think it in Peter’s character to do that anyhow. Web shooters could end up in the wrong hands or lead back to him being Spider-Man.

    • @eagle1onoteagle10
      @eagle1onoteagle10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Dayspring ok then but just telling you . Director James Cameron wanted to make a Spider-Man film make in the mid to late 90s' and even written a complete screenplay and had a whole cast lined up. However, the studios turned it down because of the mature content that the screenplay had. But the only thing from Cameron's screenplay that made it into the 2002 movie was the idea of biological web shooters.

    • @eagle1onoteagle10
      @eagle1onoteagle10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Dayspring The famous organic webs in Sam Rami's Spider-Man was James Cameron's idea. The 2002 film took some liberties with the characters, but one of the more talked about changes was straying from the comics version of Peter Parker's webs. In the comics, Parker devolved a formula that he would use to create the web while the film had him naturally acquire the webs after his brush with a genetically engineered spider. This change in Parker's origin would play a key plot point in the sequel as Parker struggled with temporarily losing his powers in Spider-Man 2.

    • @EyeBeZombie
      @EyeBeZombie ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've always preferred that he can actually shoot webs like the main feature of being a spider is to make webs if he has to actively make his own Web fluid through science it doesn't really make him spiderman he's just nerd boy that sticks to walls lol

    Two of my favorite spidey maneuvers in this video! The way he uses webs to slingshot himself out the window, and toward Ock is always really cool to me. You could even do it in the video game! Then you've got the move where he uses his webs *on Aunt May* to pull himself closer to her as she's falling. So cool.

    This is the most true-to-the-comics _Spiderman_ made. Tom Holland plays Peter as a bumbling moron who can't do anything without "Tony Stark", and people eat it up. Everything going on in this one is accurate, except for his not having web shooters, which Peter Parker develops on his own. Peter makes his own tech, not "Stark". In one issue of _Fantastic Four,_ Reed Richards states that _Spiderman_ is like a natural in his lab in the Baxter Building. By the way "Stark" can't hold a candle to Reed Richards, so that's quite a statement about _Spiderman._

    • @a_fine_edition2746
      @a_fine_edition2746 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tom is hardly unintelligent. All Tobey does is spout some vague science-y sounding stuff and does very little with his supposed intelligence and knowledge. Tom built his own web shooters, so I don’t know where you got the idea Tony did anything other than give him some upgrades, which would make sense given he has access to way more tech than Peter would, and probably had plenty of time to analyze Peter’s web-fluid (which we SEE him developing in Homecoming by the way). Tony is not that far behind Reed in intelligence. They just specialize in different fields. Peter is behind both of them anyway. Tobey’s also a lot less quippy. But honestly, I get really tired of these debates on who the best Spidey is. They’re childish and unnecessary. All of them excelled at different aspects of the character, with some relative overlap.

    I thought about the train scene a bit too much right now, tryna find explanations. And this is the best one, I think:
    The train was decelerating so fast and so much, that's why it was probably quite hard or impossible to move backwards, because u get pushed forwards. I mean try to not fall, run or move forwards in a bus, without holding on, when it's making a sudden stop.

    If Raimi had just made Dr Strange 30 minutes longer it would have been as great this. Dr Strange was missing the balance but its still a great movie and one of my favorites but what he did with spiderman is untouchable , still the best ones ever made

    Mark 29:33. That song is from the movie, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". It plays over a bicycle scene in which one of them is romancing the girl played by actress, Katharine Ross. It takes place while there is rain. It was at least nominated for an, "Oscar", if it didn't win it. 🤔

    So the guy at the theater in the beginning stopping peter from going in was supposed to be as Mysterio in the fourth spider man film, there many clues like how he was the announcer in the first film. He was portraying as so many personas it even was confirmed by Sam Raimi I think. Plz correct me if I'm wrong.

    Umm, the train is going over whether you're at the front or the back of the train. If the train car goes straight down, being in the back means you fall all the way to the front, where being up front means you don't fall anywhere, and maybe the rest of the train will fold the first car long enough to slow down the fall . . .

    Mark 37:08. Haha! My comic book collection began with a cousin's box of comics, that his angry mother gave to my brother and myself, to punish him! Much later, we learned how valuable they were, after we had not only read them multiple times, but cut out order-form coupons from them! I remember thinking that they could be easily replaced, because I didn't know how publishing worked, when I was ages, 5 - 7. We inherited important issues, like "Fantastic Four #3", and other early issues. Sigh. 😕

    If the front train car goes over, the whole train is going over.
    It’s called gravity.
    It would make zero difference if you ran to the back car.
    Way to talk over and miss out on one of the most iconic moments in the history of superhero movies!!

    The force of the train stop was probably forcing the people forward. Like when a car abruptly stops how it throws you forward. Also, Sam Rami is doing the new Dr. Strange movie. Should be interesting.

      Are you for real? The major struggle of his first two movies was trying to be Spider-Man and Peter. Homecoming was all about him trying to be responsible when he’d like nothing more than to just let things slide and live a normal life. It was the same thing in Far From a home, where he just wants to be with the girl he likes on a vacation, but Spidey stuff keeps getting in the way.

    The usher (fight announcer in Spiderman 1) is Bruce Cambell (really neat actor, who works a lot with Sam Rami). You should out check out some of his stuff, well worth the effort. (The "incident" in the operating room is 100% pure Sam Rami.)

    7:54 Spider-Man can do many things to make Peter some money. But with great power comes great responsibility. He doesn't use his powers for money because that's what got Uncle Ben killed. He takes pictures of himself cause it's something he can do as Peter while helping people as Spider-Man.
    A better solution for his money problems would be to charge more for his pictures since he's the only one capable of actually getting a good photo of Spidey, or sell them somewhere else since he's freelance, not under contract.
