Maybe the Turbo S should take on a middleweight bike because it has no chance in a drag race against any (1000cc) super bike. I went out in a 996 Turbo S many years ago when they were knew and still vividly remember it today.

Yeah the sports one litres are really something else these days. 212 hp for such a light machine is incredible. For something reasonably affordable to be able to keep up with an F1 car is amazing. My bike is about 95 hp and I rarely have any cars keeping up when I take off from the lights. Recently I had a Jeep Trackhawk surpise me by passing me off the line. I wasn't going flat out but reasonably quick and this thing just flies past me. Pull up at the lights and I look over and see 6.2 L hemi on the side. Then I see supercharger. Both of us took off fast and were neck and neck for about 150m until a car got in the way.
The F1 engine is made to be agile in short runs/parts and not for long fast parts. If F1 would be long fast runs they would tune the engine in another way.
I guess you mean the downforce of the F1 car adds a bunch of drag at the higher speeds. If they removed the rear wing it would have destroyed the bike at top end.
@@zepm7184 Sort of defeats the point haha. Even with DRS bike would win. I think if it set off at the rolling race in 1st then it would of stood a better chance having all the power at the top end
@@zepm7184 if they removed the rear wing it wouldn't be an f1 car. May as well be arguing that if they extended the swing arm and used slicks the bike would have done better
@@canismajoris6733 Exactly. Downforce is a huge part of F1. Besides without the wing the F1 car would seriously struggle for traction anywhere under 100mph, it could accelerate faster at the top end but would accelerate much slower from lower speeds.
@@canismajoris6733 Just saying the bike caught up to the F1 car because the F1 car reached maximum speed by the 1/2 mile and then just sat at that speed while the bike kept accelerating.
F1 cars dont ever accelerate for up to a mile on any circuits. They are purpose built for F1 race tracks, the longest straight being around 1200m at Baku but most tracks have max straights that are much shorter. F1 cars just have far too much downforce to have impressive top speeds compared to today's supercars. That F1 car could have taken a corner at that speed it was carrying at the mile marker whereas the bike would have ended up veering off into oblivion if the rider tried doing the same. To really appreciate how fast an F1 car is you have to get these vehicles on a race circuit. It won't even be close.
@@Tim_Marshall73 Nope: F1 car is not heavy, they use downforce for grip, so from standing, they cant unleash power, so rear wheels spin easy... Where F1 really shine is breaking power and corner speeds in faster turns (bacause of downforce) which are insane.
Having a less powerful version of the BMW, it is really scary. I previously owned a Kawasaki Ninja 650 before I got my S1000RR, I think that's comparable in car term from switching from a Nissan 370z to a McLaren. I haven't pushed it to its limit yet, because I have huge respect, but also because the weather isn't optimal and I have to drive at night when there's less traffic to do so 😆 But you basically have 200hp between your legs with not much in between, you're literally sitting on an engine, a cooling system and two wheels. Especially with a motorcycle it's a whole different experience because you really feel the wind, the acceleration and speed basically unfiltered. It's a pure experience and absolute adrenaline rush. There are similar bikes though, most prominently the Paginale V4R from Ducati (basically a Ferrari on two wheels) and the Kawasaki H2R which is an absolute beast and probably comparable to a tuned Nissan GT-R 😂
@@Irinananana that is a comparable upgrade because a 650 is like meh it’s looks ok relatively slow to a s1000 is like Jesus this bike is fast and looks gorgeous
@@TheDamonsta the 650 was in fact my first own bike, I rode a bit on bikes my friends were lending me. However now with a bit help of my family I was able to get my dream machine. In retrospect I should have rented one to get a feel instead of jumping head first in, but now I'm slowly trapping into the potential of the bike. It really is a whole different experience, it's like a rocket by comparison. I paid 21K (Euro) for it as I bought it slightly used (basically new), but it was definitely worth it. And yes it's definitely a bike that turns heads, especially other Motorcycle enthusiasts recognize it immediately, but even "normal people" look and point at it 👌🏻 Someday I want to definitely take it to a circuit and let it run how it was intended 😁

A superbike will always out speed a car due to being lighter, having a better power to weight ratio and the power doesn't get lost in the drivetrain as much as in a car. The fact that it took an F1 Car and a BMW M1000 RR to take down the Porsche 911 Turbo S speaks for itself. That car is so beautifully engineered.
I love the Turbo S but it was so badly destroyed it really wasn’t ever in the race. I felt a bit sorry for the Turbo S in this field, I mean the S1000RR can drop a Bugatti Veyron up to 190mph. Maybe the Turbo S should take on a middleweight bike because it has no chance in a drag race against any (1000cc) super bike. Still the Turbo S is still my all time favourite because it’s so useable regardless of the quality of the road or weather conditions. I went out in a 996 Turbo S many years ago when they were knew and still vividly remember it today.
What? A bone-stock litre-bike with no wheelie-bar, no turbo, no DCT, no AWD and costing a tiny fraction of the Porche's price beats it and that is somehow a testament to the car?

I love these races because it shows why its important to not just look at 0-60 times.
To be fair 0-60 has been an irrevelant metric for quite some time now.
Its only a measure used to impress idiots who know little about real performance.
Modern performance cars and bikes are so powerful that 0-100, 60-130, 0-124 are far more telling.
0-60 is 90% decided on traction.
Real performance is when you can go around a track and put down all the power
Well quarter mile times are kinda garbage too. Can’t stand em really, especially with all these Tesla plaid videos lately ripping these crazy quarter mile times. Impressive torque? Sure. But those same Ferraris and vettes they beat in those fugazzi quarter mile runs would lap those mfers on a real track. I am sick of straight line runs in general. If you can’t make a good lap at a laguna seca or wherever, then the car is a piece of crap
Using the imperial system for measuring things is also irrelevant

The bike coming back on a f1 car near the 1 mile 🤯 insane
Its also way lighter tho
F1 cars dont ever accelerate for up to a mile on any circuits. They are purpose built for F1 race tracks, the longest straight being around 1200m at Baku but most tracks have max straights that are much shorter. F1 cars just have far too much downforce to have impressive top speeds compared to today's supercars. That F1 car could have taken a corner at that speed it was carrying at the mile marker whereas the bike would have ended up veering off into oblivion if the rider tried doing the same. To really appreciate how fast an F1 car is you have to get these vehicles on a race circuit. It won't even be close.

Having a less powerful version of the BMW, it is really scary. I previously owned a Kawasaki Ninja 650 before I got my S1000RR, I think that's comparable in car term from switching from a Nissan 370z to a McLaren. I haven't pushed it to its limit yet, because I have huge respect, but also because the weather isn't optimal and I have to drive at night when there's less traffic to do so 😆
But you basically have 200hp between your legs with not much in between, you're literally sitting on an engine, a cooling system and two wheels.
