Yes. So good. I got off of SM permanently (except for TH-cam and Substack) in 2023. I thought it would be so difficult, but in honesty… it has been the best thing in the world. Like, I don’t miss it at all. I’m not exaggerating when I say that SM is the reason why I spent some time at a Behavioral Health Hospital, wanting to take my life. It’s time we take back control and stop comparing our lives to the staged lives of others on SM. I play video games to decompress. I play guitar to enjoy the present. I write to explore my creativity and process my emotions. I read to unwind.
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was to completely avoid social media altogether. TH-cam is the only social media app I have and it’s all I need. My enjoyment is video games.
As soon as you mentioned MySpace and popularity contest, I knew you was going to talk about the top 8 😂😂 early 30's lad here and the top 8 was the bane of my life lol
Your spot on and it really bugs me that all things are considered equal. That spending your time on socials or watching TV or playing games is all on the same level. For me personally, video games are the highest form of art we have. It's interactive, you actually interact with the art, you get affected by the adventures you go on. Perfect culmination of visual art, musical art, and exercises your mind figuring out puzzles and traversing the game. I see it as mentally working out while not physically taxing yourself, so the barrier to entry is so miniscule! The barrier to entry is as small as social medias, but will actually build into your life positively. I'm on social media everyday and it's full of MY interests. But the only thing I see are arguments. We are trained to argue and rank everything under the sun, rather than be engaged with an art form and gain self efficacy through completing challenges. There's dozens of video essays on how Dark Souls games actually help fight depression specifically because of the self efficacy you gain. I've felt it myself.. (exact same thing as picking up an instrument, it is impossible for you. But as you crest the hills of accomplishments you feel really really good. Video games are a great source of self efficacy)
Watching this drinking my own cup made via the Aeropress! One thing that would be cool is if you're able to give the recipes you're using for the brewing whether it's just text on the video or in the description. Getting rid of social media has been a God send for me. One thing I also started doing is leaving my phone in another room or well out of reach when I game. I found myself wanting to pickup my phone during cutscenes and such and I'd miss story beats in games. Great video!! So glad you popped up in my feed.
This is a great video! I'm making some earl gray tea to drink while listening to this. Random question, but, do you by chance know someone called David LaMont?
About sticking to longform content instead of social media outreach, why don’t you publish this TH-cam series to podcast apps?
Personally I treat TH-cam like a podcast app 80% of the time (have it playing without any video)
I second this. I listen in the car anyway, and my podcast app is way better at handling my queue than TH-cam

This is one of your best videos yet. I love the long form, no edit. Great. Keep this up. I’m curious to hear more on this subject.
Social media outside of youtube and discord is non existent in my life. Games and BJJ are my healthy outlets. Both are done responsibly.
The" miyoo mini flip" is amazing.. and looks like Gba SP version😉
That’s dope man.
spot on
I never got into certain rpgs but I recently picked fire emblem awakening for my 3ds and its really awesome.
Fire emblem engage is also really good.
