In some places in the U.S. traffic laws are photo enforced. Depending on the jurisdiction it may require a court appearance. In others you have no recourse but to pay the fine as you're guilty by default.

When you fake honesty, you'll not get fine, the scripts are always like that, actually the cases are fake, no one gets fine, they're make for TV, it's only a show.
Tbh, it is difficult to stop on a high speed against almost turning red light. And yes she’s right, if you do attempt to stop you will end up in the intersection. But then again, it’s still no excuse to cross red light. Next time, a better idea would be just to slow down ahead of time if it’s yellow.
Does US traffic lights have a delay between one light go red and other ones go green? Because I am from Europe and we have cca 2s delay for this exact reason. Driving 1s late is against the law, but it is safe here.

@@joim3480 You're inferring that some people just cant be good at school. I disagree with this, but it's not just school that people make these assumptions with. It takes a lot of effort and constant struggle through what's difficult to do anything great. Although everyone is different and has different strengths, what everyone should have and cherish more is the skill to of self teaching. How easily it is to learn something new starts from the earliest of ages. If you get good at learning, you then learn how to be self taught. 90 percent of learning anything is knowing what you don't know. This is why people are willing to give successful young people 2nd chances because they see their willingness to grow, learn from mistakes, and be a better person. If she is willing to spend every night studying for her future, the judge should definitely see that as a reason to help her further do that and not overly punish her for a simple traffic violation when there are clearly larger impacts he can be part of to effect the future in a more positive way.

I wouldn't say someone jumping a red light is state extortion - there are safety reasons and traffic management reasons why traffic lights are installed and used globally. I do however agree we need more judges like Judge Caprio but we also need more judges, politicians and leaders who actually punish real criminals. The student knew she was in the wrong and many of us appreciate her honesty and also appreciate the hard work she's put in, like Judge Caprio did decades before, to better herself. And those efforts shall/should be rewarded.
In my opinion most traffic citations are issued as a means to make income for cities. I'll use my experiences as an example. I received 2 tickets in the past few years. Prior to that it was 20 years ago. Both tickets were in my subdivision. One was for supposedly running a stop sign. I had someone back out of the drive in front of me. The coasted up to the stop sign which was about 50 feet away going so slow it didn't even register on my speedometer. We might have been doing 1mph maybe. They tapped their break and went. I tapped my break and went. A cop was sitting in the cul-de-sac and it was during half-time of the biggest university in the states final 4 NCAA basketball game. The guy was sitting there board and gave me a ticket. Surprisingly the judge threw it out. Second ticket was for supposedly going 39 in a 25. I asked to see the clock but he wouldn't show me. I requested the video during discovery and it didn't show my speed. It showed eveything else though including the cops speed, the GPS location, etc. He was sitting in the travel lane not moving in an unmarked vehicle. I went around the vehicle. I don't believe I was speeding but it was my word against his in court. They charged me for the ticket.
@@aceace605 Yes maybe or unfortunately you, and many others, have met an "enforcement officer" on a bad day and therefore got picked on for the slightest, if any, infraction... I get it - just like there's a minority of bad people there's a minority of bad cops. Do you want kids protected when travelling to&from school or is doing 30mph acceptable? Are you OK with some RLJ? Or road racing? The majority of traffic laws are there for a purpose it's called safety - imagine the roads in the US if there were no traffic laws! The enforcement is mainly instigated by humans - within humans you have emotion and error. And you seem negative towards enforcement because you got 2 tickets (one cancelled) in 20 years ffs. You watch "Caught in Providence" how often do the ticketed appear with one or just two tickets? And how often do you see/hear about judges assisting "the scamming" of citizens by "enforcement officers". Guessing here - you say, in your reply, "I don't believe I was speeding" - me I know when I'm speeding. I know 99% of the time it's 10% above posted speed limit in the right conditions - I've had 1 ticket in 40 years that was for parking in a disabled bay with a recently out of date permit.

Personally, I am a fan of a two strike policy. Strike one is if you break a rule. Strike two is if you get mouthy when confronted or break the rule again. I do not like a three strike system because it somewhat defeats the purpose. The line is, someone does not respect the rules they crossed the line. I used this philosophy when moderating online. I only banned around six people in the two years I was moderating. In my experience, ninety percent of all problems come from only a handful of people. I would have let this person off as well.
