Thank you Dave, always a pleasure to see an upload to your channel! Thank you for the thorough honest review! I appreciate the insight to the change on the seconds hand. I reviewed the same one and fell in love with it! Genuinely in my top 5 most worn watches at the moment. I'm with you Dave, can't think of anything at $1k that really competes on specs alone
@BureauATF What Hamilton or Oris competes at 1k? Oris Titanium pieces start at £1,600 and from personal experience I can tell you none of Hamiltons titanium pieces are finished nearly as well
@@JasonTheWatchGuy i wasn't talking about titanium specifically. I was saying Oris or Hamilton can be found for around the same price and they are infinitely better. Both of them are running movements that are better than Sellita, they have AR sapphire, better finishing and their dials aren't printed. They have applied indexes. These really are nothing to write home about. There are lots of other manufacturers making titanium cases with better movements foe the same price. Steinhart makes a titanium Flieger for not much more with a higher grade ETA movement and way better quality fit and finish. Hell, even Victorinox makes a titanium watch for half that price. Recently I sent SWC an email suggesting they make a solar Ark & call it the SARK, received a response back from Jacob at SWC saying they loved the idea and would keep me posted on any progress made so hopefully he does and hopefully we see a solar Ark soon!!!
I have recently purchased the green dial variant of this watch. I too am blown away by this timepiece. It is STUNNING! The leather strap - is very soft/supple and comfy. When I first received it, I wore it for two days straight and it only gained one second. An absolute bargain!!!!!!!!!!! The burgundy one will definitely be my next buy from The Swiss Watch Company, for sure.
I have a gray, and a brown bunker. Also an Ark. Really great watches. Regulated movements on the bunkers. Seiko won't do that with the 8l35/55 movements in a watch almost 10x the cost. This new one is a very handsome watch. What a bargain for the price. Big improvement from my bunkers. Great review!
this looks pretty slick! This one (slate gray) and the burgundy are really classy-looking, without being too mundane. I love their "Bunker" watch, and I hope one day they release a 39mm version
Dave, this isn't a comment on the subject of this video, but a comment on your video on answering hard Bible questions from kids there in Japan. I absolutely loved it! Thanks Dave for this review. I got this watch last November (burgundy) and, after over 8 months of wearing it on and off, the sapphire glass has held really well. No scratches what so ever. The legibility is fantastic. I must note that my version had a defective crown and stem but they resolved the issue in no time at all. Their customer service is top notch and the team are true professionals with their great designs. I hope to get to review their GMT watch which came out recently. I'm sure it will be another home run. Thanks for sharing your insight.

I have the bunker. Amazing watch with amazing accuracy. I've had for 2 years and it don't go above +2spd. I just wish they make a 38mm with colour matched date window. That will rock
Hi Dave, nice review! I own both the Bunker and the Hyper-G and I agree with most of your points except the logo does not bother me at all. One thing I may have missed, but not sure if you mentioned that they regulate each watch essentially to COSC standards and enclose the timing card in the package, this is a big deal to me as I am overly OCD about accuracy in my watches. That extra "feature" is a big deal!
A month ago I got a Bunker 2nd hand. The light weight, the exeptional lume, the accuracy and the clarity of the sapphire crystal are really impressive, especially because I'm a dive watch guy mainly because Im a lume-aholic, and I actually like the logo. After watching your review of the Hyper-G I pulled the trigger and can't wait to get it in my hands. I'm looking forward to compare it with my Seiko SARG009 which is one of the 2 Pilot watches that I already have.
Love this watch. Definitely gives the IWC a run for the money. I have the Bunker, and it’s exceptional, especially for the price. Also, the most accurate automatic watch I own. I bought the TI bracelet and the integration with the case, and the transition from the lugs to the female end links is unreal. The logo sucks.
I dont think I would say it gives OWC a run for its money. This watch doesn't come within a mile of an IWC Pilot, which is fine because its not supposed it. But OWC absolutely blows this out of the water in every way. Not even close.
I absolutely *LOVE* everything about this watch and have been looking at it for a while. The only thing that has stopped me from pulling the trigger is the Beaufort Seatrekker. Now I just don't know which one to pick. Either I think would be fantastic GADA watches.
That’s a really nice watch for 500 bucks, I don’t mind the logo. I mean I don’t love it but that wouldn’t keep me from buying it. I do think it homages a few other watches but hey just about every watch is a homage to some extent. Thanks for sharing it.
Completely agree about the logo, they do need to revisit or reduce the branding at least on the dial. In addition the date seems out of place for me, perhaps they can color match it to the dial or introduce a version without it.
Yeah, the thickness of that lume is really offputting to me as well. Otherwise a stunning watch. The branding is pretty polarizing, but it's not too bad IMO. But I like Orient's logo, so maybe I'm not the best one to judge that lol
If it was 38mm, no date, SWC instead of that logo...I could see it as a field watch or maybe expedition style tool watch if it had a nice rubber strap with NATO option.
I have no issues with the logo, its just not a big concern for me. The only time i remember its on the back is when i clean it. I like it on the dial and am indifferent for the crown. But i do agree with the lugs. Mine has only been on a nato or barton strap ... but nato more. The leather strap is too short. But i love the design for its simplicity & ease of reading.
I am a former fixed wing and rotary wing pilot. In my world, a watch that doesn't have a 24 hour 2nd dial is not a pilot's watch. I need(ed) to know GMT time while flying, due to the GMT time used in the radio information used in pilot informational radio channels.
Thanks Dave, a great watch from a company I'll definitely buy a watch from. Not this one. If they wanted to make a Flieger Style watch, than they should have replaced the 12 for some kind of orientation. More original than a triangle... Further more, I think the hour and minute hands should have been a bit longer . The hour hand touching the numerals and the minute hand half way the track. The seconds hand reaching the outer rim of the track and should have been in an other color. Finally there should have been some rivets on the strap. Great specs, but too much flaws for me. It could have beaten an IWC....
It's more money but the Damasko DS30 has a very hard submarine steel case is water resistant to 200m and is only 10mm thick plus some other Damasko tech and a great look to my eyes, mine was $1700AU. Must be worth a look.
It has many strong points - the case, materials, AR on the crystal, but there are things that would put me off buying it: close ups of the numerals look bad for me with that fuzzy applied lume, would have been much better with numerals similar to what Bunker has. The logo is not that big of a deal, but it's still the only thing I don't like with all of their other watches. Also agree with your comment about the seconds hand. Overall I feel it's inferior to Bunker and would never pick that one over it. They need to make another batch of Bunker with updated logo. PS: I've recently bought a generic A-type dial flieger from ali which has no logo, lower grade titanium case, 20mm lugs width, nh35 and sapphire crystal for 80 euro. Although this SWC watch has some advantages, it can't justify the price tag, especially when there are several drawbacks. It doesn't have e.g. Laco's heritage and there's nothing too unique or interesting, except the technical aspect of the case and crystal. Honestly, I would pick a Laco for lower price, despite not being titanium and having miyota inside. This one lacks the character and appeal SWC Bunker has.
@@Chriswilliams-lx9mx It goes by the name of "Tandorio", but I haven't seen the watch in flesh, so can't comment on the quality and can't recommend it (yet). I suspect the usual sapphire crystal with no AR, decent case and probably weak lume on the dial and hands. If the case is good (e.g. no sharp edges), then it would be a good base for a DIY project if I want to. I often swap the crystals with higher quality ones with some AR coating, which usually makes a noticeable difference in the look and feel. I've completed 2 similar watches from parts and total cost is much higher compared to the assembled watch, even when not accounting for the trial and error with different hands and dials, before I picked final ones.
I like the SWC logo and the font for the company's name. It gives it a mid-century quirky look that works well with the watch's aesthetic. But I agree it shouldn't be everywhere so prominently. Just the dial and a much smaller on on the case. Maybe on the crown too.
This is absolutely fantastic value . However for me at 40 mm all face as a field watch think it’s too big for my tastes . 22 mm lugs is also a bit of dealbreake.. 38 mm and 20 mm field watches are superb .
Very nice "go anywhere do anything" style watch. I actually like the logo, I guess these things are subjective. I know lots of people like San Martin but I really hate their logo..so I understand where you're coming from.
The date is the only thing about mine that bothers me. But, honestly, it such a ridiculous value that it's still worth it. Looks amazing and the most accurate watch I own.
Lovely watch Dave but you've nailed the downsides. I'd like to see a colour matched date like my Christopher Ward Sealander C63 has, which uses the same movement.
I have been tempted many times for this one. In other reviews I've noticed strap case rub which could be fixed. I could live with the logo/font but don't really like it. If it had blued hands on the gray one I would do it.
Just bought the Zelos AURORA FIELD 42MM TI 'AVENTURINE' and other than the movement it's pretty close to this watch. The microbrands have been hitting homeruns lately.
For me if they don’t offer a bracelet I won’t even consider it even if it’s a great buy like this one. I think they should consider making s bracelet similar to that of iwc or laco with their pro series.
This is coming out in the same timeframe as Zelos is releasing their field watch. Tough market at that price, but it’s got a Swiss movement while Zelos is rocking the Miyota…
I do love my zelos but wish they were able to put some higher movement in their watches. That being said my makos have been running around 5 to 7 seconds off a day. Pretty good for a titanium case, ceramic bezel, sapphire, 300 m water resistant and bracelet for 430 bucks
Very nice piece, but yeah, that logo. For me, on this type of watch, clarity and simplicity should be guiding design principles, and that logo dominates the dial and ignores those considerations. They really need to think about leaving it off or at least putting something less intrusive on there.
I dunno. I think the logo is cool when you see it on the signed crown. It just looks cheesy painted on the dial with the written Swiss watch company underneath.
I've had and moved on from 2 Bunkers now and it only comes down to the logo. I wish I could move past it, but it just keeps me from fully enjoying and embracing the brand. They need to do a Christopher Ward and revamp the logo.
Exactly, never pulled the trigger on the Bunker because of the logo. To me, coming from a poor country, it's not very affordable, so it needs to be "perfect" in order to purchase a watch at that price point. And the logo was the only thing I didn't like in that watch. This one is even more generic and although the specs are quite good, I'm not tempted to buy it due to the issues it has.
I can't agree more! I feel like that logo is SCREAMING amateur hour. If they just left the logo, maybe I could deal. Or if they just had SWC on the dial, I could deal. But they have great watches that I just don't want because of how awful their name and logo are. Guys, you are so close. Stop being stubborn and FIX IT!!!
Seems like there’s a lot to be liked here. I actually don’t mind the logo. Maybe keep the name on the dial and the logo on the crown? Either way, I’ve seen much worse logos out there, islander watches come to mind. It’s just my opinion.
Case looks wonderful. However - The overuse (IMO) of lume makes the numerals look poorly finished. Seriously did it really need that much? The AR looks insanely good. Why don’t they just use SWC rather than Swiss Watch Company. Think the whole brand name (and the font) is a bit disingenuous given the circumstances of the company structure you describe also. I agree- The LOGO is also a miss IMO. Looks a bit like it was created by a on line 1990’s logo generator! Summary - generic watch design with some insane spec. I’d trade some spec for an bit more originality and a cooler logo! Nice review as always Dave
Rubbing the straps like that is a no-go for me, that's insane. Who wants to have their straps scratched up like that every time they look at their watch? Time for SWC to move the lug holes further from the case side. And I see the case sides between the lugs looks like it's poorly finished.
Hello Dave: I have owned dozens and dozens of watches and am currently fascinated with the AVI 8 series, and one very special Invicta. My go to watch is the Citizen Titanium BL5250 Eco drive/perpetual. Now this IS the most incredible watch I have ever owned. Enormous number of features AND FUNCTIONS plus solar drive. The SWC watch today looks totally ordinary and does very little beyond simple time telling and a tiny calendar. Every "feature " is just that and is NOT a function....Awesome??? hardly...
Those specs are great but that dial is the epitome of plain. I would say it's looks are a poster child of generic. They should ask Tissot or Seiko on how they get such good looking faces on the cheap.
It was a nice enough watch but even on my phone screen I could see how badly the numerals were printed , with uneven edges looking very amateurish . It was as if someone found a vintage watch and tried refurbishing the dial
So… what is the logo supposed to be? Because it looks almost anatomical in an inappropriate way to me. I like the watch, but I’m not going to wear that logo around. Maybe if I knew what it was supposed to represent it would dispel the negative associations for me.
Amazing value, just imagine if they could design a watch that had some flair or redeeming design features?! Way too boring to care about. Numbers look scruffy in that close up.

Something will be made regarding the strap eating issue ? This is the real thing that hinder me to buy this one tho.
They really need to fix their logo. It would help a lot
The printing on this watch look kinda of sloppy. Almost like smudges around the hours and not smooth and uniform.
Also, the seconds hand should have a red tip
Looks like the swc bunker watch, that cost a mere £250 last year.
I think it's easier to put more money in good specs when zero went into design. Thought it was a Longines Spirit homage at first glance.
What the son is in his little Swiss shed in Switzerland so that gives it a Swiss tag FMBOOTS.
I don't understand how these are Swiss made, but not available from any European resellers/distributors.
1:44 justified what?
Tandorio and baltany made that kind of specification for under usd250
For $600, I would rather buy two nice G-shocks and keep the change. Or maybe a used Seiko Samurai and a G-shock.
Specs sound similar to the Zelos Aurora
Seems like there’s a lot to be liked here. I actually don’t mind the logo. Maybe keep the name on the dial and the logo on the crown? Either way, I’ve seen much worse logos out there, islander watches come to mind. It’s just my opinion.
Very similar to the Dufrane Mabry for similar money ($599).
If only they remove the logo or move it few mm down the dial
I reallylike it
Rubbing the straps like that is a no-go for me, that's insane.
Every "feature " is just that and is NOT a function....Awesome??? hardly...
Nice

Those specs are great but that dial is the epitome of plain. I would say it's looks are a poster child of generic. They should ask Tissot or Seiko on how they get such good looking faces on the cheap.
It was a nice enough watch but even on my phone screen I could see how badly the numerals were printed , with uneven edges looking very amateurish . It was as if someone found a vintage watch and tried refurbishing the dial
Specs… fantastic! Price… great. Logo + dial font… yikes
That logo, though…
Looks really fantastic. But.. ugh the logo!
The logo itself is ok,but its too close to 12 marker.Overall great specs but too boring for me,small seconds would make it more interesting
Has some Mido Multifort vibes, the logo hurts to look at.
