My wife and I stopped at Taco Bell yesterday for lunch without the kids. As we were sitting there about halfway through eating a man walked in, you could easily tell he was homeless ( matted hair, 2 coats and he was carrying his stuff ). He approached the counter with $1.00 and the lady looked and him and said what the hell you expect to get what that? He said may I please have a taco she laughed, my wife walked up to the counter and bought him a meal and a couple tacos to take with him and he was so grateful he started crying. He sat next to us and we ate and talked and found out he had been a truck driver who had a heart attack and couldn’t work anymore and his wife left him for someone else and took his kids. Hard times fell on harder times and he lost his house and all. Never judge anyone you never know what they are going through.

Never forget just how close we all are from living on the streets. A year and a half ago I was buying prepaid phones for those in need. Then my sister got cancer, I used up my savings taking care of her, got a new job, started having health problems, had to leave my job due to not being able to go and am now getting evicted. Things snowball fast and most of us are just one tragedy away from it all falling apart.

don't give up. All struggles God gives us are things we can conquer. Luckily I live with my grandparents with a house they own. I need to pay the electricity bill and groceries only. Last year I had no job, no money, and couldn't even afford to pay for my scooter which I needed to buy ingredients to sell cookies and make a little. I earned $6/day doing that. Fast forward to today I'm earning more than I need, with a great boss, a loving family, and I even got myself a dog who I treat as a child. I thank God for all the struggles he put me through, to appreciate the things I have now. Things will get better for you in Jesus name I pray!

The sad thing is the amount of people who judge people like him. They think we are all cut from the same stone. They have no idea what grief can do to our mental well being. It's impossible to function when you're mentally broken. A lot of homeless people just need one person to care.

This is true. Unfortunately, many of these people suffer from mental illness or addiction and "choose" to live this way. This country needs free mental illness treatment.

At times in my life I've got vertigo so bad for months I literally can't walk, I was a math teacher, I tried so hard but couldn't work, lost my job. Only reason I'm not him is because I have a rich family. Without that I'd be laying in a parking lot too

I was homeless in 1996. Orphaned at 5. Squatted in a house for 2 months until full paychecks started coming in and I made it through training and then started also getting tips. Haven’t looked back but have also never forgotten the people that showed kindness to me. I still give thanks to my Savior for keeping me safe all this time.

Watching this, I caught on that. And he's young, despite the grime and unkept appearance. Probably mid-30s. If I lost my entire family in a house fire while I was away from home, I don't know that I would be any different. I certainly wouldn't be able to hold down a job. To lose everyone important to me and I wasn't able to be there to try to save them. That would destroy me.

If u click under the title of the video where it says ' # of views and more..' . it shows a typed update saying they raised enough money within cpl days of it going up. I think he has raised a lot from this one video and would really like another update.. mainly because I donated a lot specifically for Michael.. I've also seen that shorts video for Michael had 10 mill views...as opposed to Nates normal views this is by far his highest. I think a lot are waiting for this update.

The way we collectively treat the homeless is atrocious, and half the country is only 2 missed paychecks away from being there themselves.

Lost my job at the beginning of the month; paid March rent with the last of my money & then got really sick. Was bedridden until the beginning of this week. Been eating every 2nd or 3rd day to stretch what little is left in the house. Hoping my landlord will let me use the "last month's rent" I paid when I moved in so that I have a base to look for another job now that I'm mobile, at least until the end of April... if he doesn't then I'll be on the street tomorrow...again. I've been there before & know that I don't have the strength for it anymore. I really feel what this young man is going through & wish him well. Watching you offer him a *hug* on top of everything else broke me; a hug is what I could use most right now. I'm in tears, for that guy, for myself & everyone who goes through this for whatever reason. I have hope that someone will show me a little kindness if I have to live this way again.. Happy Easter and keep doing these good works.
