I wanted to mention after you gave the proper name for the Mickey Mouse as an Xanthosoma sagittifolium. The Xanthosomas are often confused for either Colocasias or Alocasias, but they actually like more water than an Alocasia. They do not like to dry out at all. And most growers don't seem to know this. So Grow Folds is on top of the latest information! Yay Richie and his community!
I've looked into growing live spaghnum moss and other mosses and lichens. A new rabbit hole! I love the look of the Kokedama! We need a get together to make things together!
I started two terrariums this week for some super fussy plants that seem to enjoy higher moisture content. You aren't supposed to have to water as often but more importantly, its supposed to provide a more balanced environment.
Richie, I need to listen again to how you were describing the start of the new varieties of Japanese Pothos. Is that something you think we could do as individual plant parents and what kind of pattern would you look for in a leaf that you wanted to develop into a new plant? That concept sounds so interesting to me!
I just loved those big Green and Yellow twisted type Cactus. You just don't see things like that, here in Canada. BUT I did find an actual Cactus and Succulent Nursery about 3/4 of an hour from here. I had no idea it was here, then I find out that after 25 yrs he is closing down, at the end of this month. How depressing!!!! I find a nursery, that has my kind of plants, and it's going to close soon. He had fantastic prices on his plants. Huge Cactus that would have taken a couple of men and a moving dolly to move them. For only 100.00 each. They were stunning!!!! No idea how many years it would have taken to grow them. I just need a bigger house. LOL
Richie, have you or any of the community ever used a "soil less" substrate that still looks like soil? I've used a lot for succulents in the past. Surprisingly, the owner of the company said that although his soil less medium was great, that different varieties of plants still did better with other substrates. In other words, if a particular plant doesn’t thrive in one substrate, it might in another.
Aglaonema Sea Foam is the most beautiful!!! I have Emerald Pink. My friend in England has the same looking plant under the name "Apple Fantasy", and my friend from Holland has it with the name Fantasy something else, I forgot what. I will look through different video from Asian creators, maybe there is some other name for a Sea Foam?
