There's no advantage to going with the red Loctite. Stick with blue if there's even the smallest chance you'll want to swap the sight someday. There's nothing you should be doing to a gun sight that would ever warrant the red, and the red's more likely to damage the screw on removal without a lot of heat.
So there's no adjustment needed on the rear sight, other than making sure it "looks" centered? I have a Canik which I would like to put XS sights on. It has front and rear dovetails. Would alignment be a problem aligning 2 dovetail sights?
I havent made any but i like the idea for a video. What i tend to do is use a laser bore sighter and sight the pistol to the laser at about 7-10 yards you should be good at that distance for anything close range which any home defense situation will be if not closer imo.
@@TheHobbyGunsmith im actually plannig to train point and shoot at that distance lol... but the thing is a saw a vlogger say if ul use it for close quarter range like 5 to 10 yards , you should still zero it at 25 yards so im confused
@@boyscout-p3u remember that pistols are different than rifles in the sense that you cannot adjust height without changing out front or rear for either taller or shorter. That being said if you bore sight for center you will be fine for the distance youd like.
I just got the Trijicon HD XR sights for my Glock 21 SF and was thinking of installing them myself by trying the ‘hitting nylon punch with a rubber mallet’ method but I heard I can possibly damage the tritium vials inside, is that true?
@@TheHobbyGunsmith Never drift night sights, you can damage the vials. I found out the hard way and the manufacture would not replace the sight. They said that drifting is against the warranty.
I just installed my front sight and noticed excess thread locker coming up under the actual sight. I just wiped it away as good as I could. Is that normal and will it cause any issues in the future. Thank you
Hey the hobby gunsmith is this a new channel or Name? I know I’ve been following you I was looking for your G 43 video that you did some a while back that u did work on but couldn’t find it
It's a New Channel. I deleted the old one because I was having some issues with it. and i decided to re open it. Trying to gain my followers back. I'm working on new videos.
Highly recommend not using red high strength Loctite on anything regarding your firearms. Use the blue stuff. Red is permanent. or Vibra-TITE - 11110 111 Low Strength Removable Anaerobic Threadlocker sold on Amazon. That will save you headaches later.
Interesting video. I hate that there isn’t a sure fire way to make sure sights are aligned 100%. It’s always “until it’s even on both sides” or “looks straight” that’s not good enough in my opinion. That’s the only reason I have changed my Glock 29 sights.
Ive always had good results using laser bore sighters in the shop. mostly on pistols. gets you on target 10 to 15 yards. and pretty accurate in my experience. but yes it does suck to measure by eye and distance on each side of the sight.

Great video. This has me wanting to go get these tools to do it myself
Thank you. 😁

Wow, red loctite and really torquing down on that sight screw. I'd like to see a follow up video of you trying to remove it.😉
All it takes is a soldering iron making contact to the screw to heat up the loctite and loosen it back up 😁
bro any vid teaching how far to zero iron pistol sight for home defense?

Is sighting thr gun after needed? Or most times its good to go?
Id recommend at minimum laser bore sight the firearm to get it close enough that youd have to do little to no adjustments at the range.
You used the HD, Do you like them better than the HD XR ?
Honestly havent messed with the HD XR much to give you an honest opinion.
The Hobby Gunsmith thank you

Not true sir, you can mar the sight before breaking the vials. unless your striking the vials directly.
The Hobby Gunsmith Thanks man!

Should not cause any issues, that is normal, i usually use a qtip to wipe the excess. you should be fine.
My glock sight had a problem, it's way off to the left. Should I try punching it to the right? A suggestion is truly appreciated. Thank you.
I dont see why not, just go slow and take your time.
@@TheHobbyGunsmith Thank you very much, truly appreciated

So annoying when people awkwardly add "pretty much" to sentences where it doesn't belong... other than that, pretty good video.
