using (medium) size 4 cotton yarn and size 5mm (H) hook for a toddler's ear warmer. this pattern i chained 13, then proceeded with 3 single crochet, 6 half double, 3 single. chain one repeat. just kept going until it fit my toddler's head and finished it off with the knot look. very cute! take into consideration the stretch of your yarn. when i first started with ear warmers they would become too loose after a couple wears . hope this helps, happy crocheting!

For a 3 month baby, it could be 13/ 14-inch circumference and 2.5 inches wide, so you could chain accordingly to these measurements.
