- In a beautiful mansion, the inhabitants have everything they could ever want; food, wealth, and comfort. The catch is, iron shackles are fastened on their wrists, and they are not allowed to leave the mansion. One day packages arrive for each of them with a way out of the chains, but they must leave all the comforts they’ve grown accustomed to behind. Will they choose their chains or this new freedom?

We were very well paid at the company I retired from. When people would get fed up - and you had to work 25 years to get your pension - they referred to their golden handcuffs. There is a cash and carry plan now so if people are dissatisfied or want something more, it's a much easier decision to leave.
in todays world, this is indeed very thought provoking...what we believe are the "best" things in life, are actually the worse.

This was a beautiful film. I have always wanted to make films but I can't decide what camera to start with. I know that there isn't a perfect camera but there are so many different choices. Do you have any recommendations? I am thinking about a DSLR. Thanks for any help you can give me. Keep up the awesome work!
Hey so sorry for the late reply! The best camera to start with is a smart phone. I have a whole course that teaches the entire process. Then I'd move onto a Gh4, Gh5, or an old Canon rebel.

My idea of what this represented might not be close. Could l get the true definition? Powerful either way.
Sure! But film is art and can be interpreted in ways to the individual. When I wrote the script, it was basically that the world presents all of these things that seemingly bring happiness and fulfillment. But it is all hollow and empty. The unknown, out the door, is true life and happiness. Honestly I'd like to make it a full feature film to dive deeper into the nuances.

"The Gift" is not for individuals who think independently, use critical thinking skills and reasonable, rational, logical thinking, and use their natural, free mind for guidance without recourse to man-made dogmas.
It's a story about the world offering much, but it all results in unfulfillment. The true fulfillment, the true gift... Is on the unknown and requires giving up everything.

That's literally the message. You can't be saved by works or anything you physically do. It's a gift, but you must choose to receive the gift

@@DeanneM1726 true. A metaphor isn't perfect, haha. The child represents the child like faith aspect. I guess you could say him choosing to use the key is like us choosing to accept Christ and live for Him fully.

I don't see it as "works", Caleb. I think that's a matter of the heart. When I got saved, Jesus offered the key of His forgiveness for my sin. It was up to me to receive it. That gift of forgiveness opened a whole new world to me! It opened my heart to great love I had never known before!
