An SCR, or Silicon Controlled Rectifier, is a semiconductor, or integrated circuit (IC), that allows the control of current using a small current. Basically, it is a simple direct current (DC) light switch
A silicon controlled rectifier or semiconductor controlled rectifier is a four-layer solid-state current-controlling device.
Where are SCR used?
SCRs are mainly used in devices where the control of high power, possibly coupled with high voltage, is demanded. Their operation makes them suitable for use in medium- to high-voltage AC power control applications, such as lamp dimming, power regulators and motor control.
How SCR is triggered?
To trigger, or fire, an SCR, voltage must be applied between the gate and cathode, positive to the gate and negative to the cathode. When testing an SCR, a momentary connection between the gate and anode is sufficient in polarity, intensity, and duration to trigger it.
The diodes are termed as uncontrolled rectifiers as they conduct (during forward bias condition without any control) whenever the anode voltage of the diode is greater than cathode voltage. ... Hence, the thyristor is also called as controlled rectifier or silicon controlled rectifier.

Hi the faulty SCR testing method is fine. But pressure must be applied on both sides to check working of Disc SCR. Then you can peform testing.

this disc SCR working on pressure. That's y they assembled in stacked form. Other scr types like plastic modules, discrete type, stud type no need pressure. But it needs pressure to work with gate fire.

Dear Sir. You are wrong cathode and gate resistance should be in between 20 to 100 ohm. In normal SCR as you are using disc type SCR then gate and cathode showing open in good SCR. If you will fix it on heat sink then gate and cathode will show raistabne in between 20-100 ohm.

I doubt it, as GC is almost shorted sir. As per my test it should be OL
