Thank you for sharing this. You are absolutely right, showing the hot Spots to Look at. I have bought a Westfalia T3 a des years ago and didnt know the spots, I know now. Anyhow they are all Minimum 30 years old now and do have their individuel problems. You have to make a decision whether to accept it and invest in repair or restauration. At the top of front pilars the roof rusts from condensation rising up the inside of the front pillars you can see the rectangle tube under the van infront of the front wheel where
condensation rises
Really wish I saw this before buying my t25 😢
To stop some rust at front screen base and water leaking inside the van with the aftermarket rubber molds you can cut a groove with a dremel to drain the water from each front bottom corner the after market windscreen molds are meatier than the genuine ones.
@@Joesrustbuckets I'm the only guy that's done it so far, last time I was at panel shop He commented how innovative it was what i did. Just made sense to me if the water is pooling you drain it.

they are not battery boxes at the rear. You also missed the really bad rust spot above the rear tail lights a very sneaky spot on my van drip check was not used too seal the over lapping panel that collects the water running down the rear pillar.

Don't hose inside or spill water inside the rear as it ends up in the sill in front of the rear wheel and rusting just repairing the area is the go and put the holes in to allow water to escape.

Are bays or t25 worst for going rusty and ease of repair?
If only we could go back and time and keep Westy from stuffing that insulation in the walls between the B and C pillar under the window. Imagine how many busses we could save.
I hope you’re still renovating! It’s too late for me to know what to look for and avoid. I’ve bought it. My garage owner suggested I patch my T25 and sell it. Nope. I don’t care if she’s not pretty. A very is not for Xmas, it’s for life. Or it will seem like it!

Hi Joe. I'm just wondering how much would u get a decent vw van for with no real issues. I'd really love a vw camper but I've no one to view it with me and I haven't a clue about pricing.
