Really annoying waiting 10 mins for a lift when I was there, the second one was out of order. Strange there was no stairs there at the time, I don't know what it's like now though
Shouldn't take other station nearest Leicester Square instead and take walk few minutes via Covent Garden simply. How come the worst people used the elevator toward exit up is! Too much time to heat these people are used Covent Garden Tube Station at all-day!!! 😰
Normally I've ended up using the stairs when I've been here. The lifts have always been crowded and the number of steps doesn't really bother me. I seem to remember the last time I did go in the lift here(nearly 6 years ago now) there was a pre-recorded message played on the ascending journey out of the station which gave directions for the London Transport Museum. Do they still have this announcement?
@@breakinglimitssickjambutte9450no it's not, there are deeper stations like Highgate and Angel with escalators, and stations in other countries with stations much much deeper that have escalators. Arsenalna station in Kyiv is almost 3 times as deep as Covent Garden yet has escalators
spinba11 but the lifts in all tube stations they have buttons inside to operate them like there's the one in the Hampstead station, Bank tube station, Chalk farm station and the rest that's way they are more like someone is recording pressing the button or not it might be the people a bit more than 50%
The buttons are only an intercom, to call for help. The elevators are completely automatic, and have been for decades. I used to work at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, so I used this station and its elevators 6 days a week.

In its final form (Alex Ellis) it only plays "Ticket hall level. Please have your tickets ready."
The busiest lifts in the world - when will they install an escalator?
Bradley J Sansom Never. The station is too deep.
Just go to Leicester Square and walk does an escalator there and it's not too far

Funny TH-cam audio transcription.
Well we couldn't find any stairs anyway
Are they traction or hydraulic lifts?
Traction, of course.
Hydraulics can never go this fast.
He shpd of just looked in the door windows
No Automatic Lift
believe me its not an automatic lift! there is a button to press to operate lift
the lifts are automatic 90% of the time the buttons are there for the other 10% of the time
but its not. there is a button to operate lift they did it to all underground tube stations.
ye for the 10% of the time next time you use one on you own dont touch the buttons they will still work
spinba11 but the lifts in all tube stations they have buttons inside to operate them

the lifts do run by themselves, no idea why there are buttons apart from when mechs are working on them

Not A Automatic Lift, There Is Buttons To Operate
