Ah man, that's so satisfying to watch
Yeah that was always my favourite bit but you never out ran the 73s in the good old days, they don't go anywhere near as fast as they used to from Hammersmith to Acton Town.
The two trains where having a nice race.

I lived in Dagenham East for 15 years and our house was about 300 yards from the line. I always found the passing trains somehow comforting especially when I worked from home and they reminded me of the bigger world outside. The noise on this video is unbelievably nostalgic. Really miss the Ds,, and Daggy too. Thanks for recording and posting.
Dagenham East was my local station from 1985-2000 and one of the things I loved about the D stock was how they sounded. Every little noise just sounded great.
Last time I did Ealing BDY to Upminster was on the farewell tour in 2017.
Im gonna miss the days of classic C and D stock between barking and Gloucester road. Now its all S STOCK!!!! 👎 👎

Yep. All boring s stock. London underground had a stickler for one thing. And that was it's variety of stock. The Sub surface lines are all the same stock. Not long until most of the underground lines have those horrible new trains that look like coke cans. Modern stuff never beats the good ol' classics. Even the 2009 stock has a bit of charm as it has the bumps and the rattles. The 1992 stock is my favorite as well. The C and D stock we're also another one of my favorites too.

There are hardly any Underground train journey YT videos that are filmed by those with a brain; why is your camera pointing out at the window?, at the very least the camera should have been pointing in such a way so as to film the interior and incorporating some scenes from the window, that way the viewer sees interesting changes with the boarding and alighting passengers. I am 50 years old, one significant social change I have noticed is that within the last 15 years overwhelming vast majority of people's brains have been replaced with crap, which explains why they lack any common-sense. If I created a crap piece of work the last thing I would do is exhibit it, instead I would be too embarrassed to show it.
Since all the A Stocks,C Stocks and D Stocks are gone,NOW IT'S ALL S STOCKS!!!!!

I love the D stock train
for the record, i'm a complete london underground nerd and these d78 stocks were my local trains (dagenham east station) for ages as a kid.
i regret not going on trains more as a kid, it was always a novelty going up into central london on these, but i just took them as a cool thing i could look out of the windows for. nowadays, over the past year i've grown more and more infatuated with london underground and looking back on these lil trains make me so happy. they're so- looking back on it- not up to standard. hence why they were obviously replaced, but honestly nostalgia completely clouds my mind. the moquette now is so rare to see, whenever i try and find it the same 2 images come up, and then either s stock moquettes or the old orange and brown moquettes. but everything about these now is so nice. the bad quality voice reading the stations, the jankiness of the whole thing, even just the worn beautiful vibrant moquette and bright green handles. i love these so much, and yes, whilst travelling on an s stock train is a more premium and comfortable experience i'm confident in saying i'd probably sell my soul to take a full trip on one of these again. but hey i'm just a nerd with a train hyperfixation LMAO
The quality of the voice wasn't that bad for underground standards. Listen to the 1972 stock and 1992 stock
Isle of wight have D78 stock
The D Stock was even better long before it was refurbished and painted; it was best in it's unpainted Aluminium livery, especially in the early 80's.

i missed d78 stock and emma clarke announcement, s stock fleets are very boring as hell as r151, d78 stock fleets are more intresting than crappy cheapy chinese ugly new s stock, d78 stock is as extraordinary as sie and kns, cuz d78 is more iconic and reliability, currently sub surface lines always power failure and unreliability like nsewl always power failure and unreliability after sie and kns fully retired, i love 1972 stock, 1973 stock alot, sadly 1972 stock and 1973 stock will horribly replace by crappy cheapy chinese ugly 2024 stock, like i love c751a and c751c alot, in 2040s, sadly c751a and c751c will horribly replace by replacement rolling stock of c751a and c751c train, c751a and c751c fleets are very intresting and more intresting than replacement rolling stock of c751a and c751c, 5th generation train fleets (nel) will be very boring cuz they murder the good c751a and c751c train, i quit being sub surface enthusiast after a stock, c stock and d stock fully retired by 2017, i will quit being nsewl enthusiast after sie and kns fully retired by 2025, i will also quit being nel enthusias after c751a and c751c fully retired by 2047, after c751a and c751c fully retired, the c851e (nel), 4th generation train (nel) and replacement rolling stock of c751a and c751c and north east line after alsa and alsc fully retired by 2047 will be power failure and unreliability

You mad? Fastest Deep tunnel Line would be in my honest opinion. The Central Line or Victoria Line.
Sub Surface Lines: Metropolitan Line with A Stock but since they've been cascaded with S8s. I'd say D78s

I really miss the D78s and this video is one of the best out there for listening too. I find this video very relaxing and nostalgic and often play it whilst doing something.

About 40-50 minutes depending on it being peak hours or not.
