    Social media can be a nightmare rabbit hole, I use youtube and that's it. Even watching the news can mess with your mind these days. Just keep doing what your doing and come out the other side👍

    100% dude, I work in mental health, I spend my working week helping others with their own mental health and spent years neglecting my own. I made the decision not to spend my free time doing nothing about it and get out into nature. I started wild camping and bushcrafting in January this year, and it's made a huge difference to my life already

    It took me accidentally breaking my phone and not having the money to fix it to escape the endless scrolling n feeling that you always need to be connected through socials. While at first it felt isolating, i've now come to enjoy being more present and getting over the fomo i often felt looking at instagram.
    Watching channels like yours has helped me through rough patches these last couple of years and motivated me to make that step towards feeling like myself again - finished my first year of uni and made some great mates, got out to the Peaks with them a few times and it's reignited my love for the outdoors which i haven't felt since i was in the scouts as a kid. now planning my first multi-day wild camp trip up the suffolk coast with a couple mates and cannot wait.
    cheers craig

    Wise words. I didn't think I had mental health issues, then covid and the lockdowns, and the lies, and, and...all that. Blew me away. I haven't been the same since. But one of the main things that got me through that was going alone to the woods, making a brew, and just sitting. Those f*king trees. They've seen a thing or two. All the crap cleared from my head and I got a real sense of peace. I still do it, and it still works.
    Great vid mate! - thanks! 👍

    Kudos to you for speaking out about mental health. I almost got lost a few years back I totally lost the plot but one doctor, my local gp, grabbed me and pulled me back from the brink. Once, a ten minute routine appointment turned into 45 minutes and he just talked to me. I feel myself welling up as I write this. Everyone is struggling in these insane times so thanks again for opening up brother. We need to look out for one another we are all brothers and sisters

    I can definitely tell a difference when I stay away from social media and "doom scrolling " as you call it. Especially these days. The world has really turned into an odd place. I'm glad you have some good people in your life, and don't forget that your fans out here love ya. If you ever need to chat to anyone I'm sure anyone including me would be more than happy to talk to ya. Stay strong brotha!

    Im 60 years old, life was so good during my first 40 years of my life, the world is falling apart, I remember when everyone was so kind to each other and try to help their fellow men/women in anyway possible, it not that way anymore, greed has destroyed this world, I love you Brother and keep being positive, I was one of your first Subscribers and haven't missed not one episode, I feel relaxed after watching one of your videos, like I always say KEEP ON KEEPING ON, because the world needs more people like you. 😊

    Really appreciate this video. You're a relatable lad and you've been open and honest about yourself and spotted the changes in your personality and made the step to seek help. I'm currently going through a separation, I've 2 daughters in my full care and the whole thing has brought back past trauma like you wouldn't believe.
    Your videos have got me and the girls out and about in nature many a time and as a family we appreciate the videos you upload. You've got a 6, 7 and 31 year old hooked on bushcraft and camping and you've got to be happy with that. Best of luck and enjoy life.

    51 years on this mad rock has left its mark on me. I was recently looking at some old pics from the late 80's & early 90's & I can recall how happy, funny & carefree I was back then. But nowadays I'm up & down, moody, suspicious & sometimes not the best person to be around. Totally get where you were coming from in this vid mate. Sounds like you've been down a few online rabbit holes too. They're ok in rare, short dives, but it's so easy to go from one to another, to another. The warren is vast down there & isn't a healthy place to be. I joke to people that Ive been down the rabbit hole so long that I should really change my name to Alice😂 Great talk, Craig. Glad to hear you've picked up that phone. Looking forward to seeing more from you enjoying nature. All the best pal👍

    Excellent fireside chat, Craig.
    It's so important that someone breaks the wall of silence and says: "Look, this happens. It happens to me and it can/will happen to you in some form, too. And this is how I see it coming and this is what I do." It's vital to hear someone say that to you sometimes. I've needed it.
    Also, your name was being spoken with high hosannas and praises over the weekend. I bought one of those power chargers/batteries you had on your channel a year or so ago. Since then, I've lent it out to friends, but this weekend we had a power cut and I was the smuggest little bugger you ever will see as I just plugged in my computer and TV. So, many cheer for that, lad. 😀

    Aup Craig, good vid mate 👍 It's definitely been tough these past several years for us critical thinkers that notice and research things that most don't. But like yinyang, because of this darkness there has been a significant growing paradigm shift of the collective consciousness towards light and truth. So we can keep our chins up knowing that light eradicates darkness and it will make the people's lands a greater place to live life soon enough 💪

    Eyup mate. Having been through a lot of mental health issues myself over the years and also being an avid wildcamper, I can certainly relate to your journey. I saw a therapist a few years ago and took that big step. It's an ongoing journey and incredibly difficult at times but I've found that it's an essential inner journey if you want to be truly present. The main stream work a day world seems a bit of a mess in comparison to the peace experienced in nature. The trick is making peace with both, carrying those Zen times into everyday life and managing your internal stuff as it happens in the moment. I've been enjoying following your videos and found your honesty in this one heroic. I know you're not seeking praise, so I'll extend a nod to you and a gentle smile. Keep on trucking! 👍

  • @thejugde859

    Its the human condition, we're all going through it. I find that it's made wrose in our world now with social media, its to easy to doom scroll and think that everyone's else's life is so much better than our own. But we know deep down its not, but our mind doesn't leave us see that. Every day no matter how bad it feels there is always one thing that makes it all worth it, and that's different for us all. I found it through reading books and learning things I once thought I was to stupid to learn. You are bringing something of value to others and yourself with this channel. And it's only in the darkness that we can truly see the light in ourselves. Keep doing what you are doing.

  • @dgwrigh
    @dgwrigh ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for your honesty Craig; as men, we're not great about talking about ourselves and find all kinds of distractions to lose ourselves in unnecessary details - being truly centred and ok with who we are means sometimes stepping back rather than forward, losing that sense of our own significance yet at the same time accepting who we are and learning to love ourselves - then we can start to love others and are place in the cosmos becomes more comfortable! Being out in nature starts this process as we let the natural order of things take over. Be kind to yourself Craig, and make sure you take some time out for yourself - this social media malarkey has its own pitfalls too!

  • @nothinglessness
    @nothinglessness ปีที่แล้ว

    Mental health is a lifelong project and the outdoors is the best medicine. I worked out decades ago that the woods filters out the noise. Social media is designed mostly to sow negative emotions and division. That’s why channels such as yours are so positive in a world that is rapidly heading towards totalitarianism. It’s so important to remember that life is a school and some lessons are really hard. The best plan is to embrace the darkness when it arrives because it’s just the other half of life and vital for our learning here and it only serves to make the light so much brighter when it returns.

    Completely agree. I've suffered with a type of OCD for years which I know is a different area of mental health, but put off sorting a doctor's appointment as it was getting up that courage to admit it was a problem and to seek help. When I noticed it was affecting those around me, that's what gave me the kick to seek help.

    Hi Craig! May I say that video hit me and you spoke so honestly and openly. Like you said we all have our problems and going out for a wild camp certainly is good for the mind (especially if the kids aren't with us) 😂😂. Anyway mate keep up the great work your doing and hopefully 1 day me and Mark can do a camp with ya and have a chat 💚✌️

    Massive respect to you as always Craig.. I am gutted as work has not agreed my annual leave for the end of may. I would of binned off the bushcraft show to come to the community camp. It would be an absolute dream to have a camp with you one day in the woods mate! 🤙🏼

    As someone who's suffered chronic anxiety/burnout, this is totally relatable. I've always tried to get outdoors a lot but when I started getting into 'bushcraft', found that the focus on overcoming small scale challenges based around the fundamentals of life really took my mind to a better place. Feeling that you have a level of influence on the outcome of events, however low key has an empowering effect. Learning the skills to be comfortable in what may seem a daunting natural environment is a great foundation and lens on what is really important in life and in time, you can apply that to the bigger picture. Also Improving things when you can and accepting things when you can't is a key factor in tackling stress. I particularly like what you said about just waking up and feeling grateful - really important lessons 👍 Keep it Zen, atb Andy!

    Well done, a good video. I'm a 53 year old Mum of a 24 year old and I'm watching! It's great that you highlight mental health and being out in nature. We can all have our moments. Even about 6 sessions with a counsellor can make a difference. There are different times in our life when we need some extra support and finding our way to it is a good thing. Anyway, I like the vibe here. I walk a lot and have a campervan, which I can drive somewhere green and just be for a while, must find more woods!

    Dude it is beyond me how this is not promoted/tought in secondary school. This is so beneficial to the person and the environment so its a double whammey. Plus, if i can give just one little piece of advice to live by its, "the people who mind dont matter and the people who matter dont mind! Live by theat dude!

    Thanks for being so honest and open, it's so needed in a world where we're supposed to slap a filter over how we look and feel and pretend everything's great when it isn't. Great video as always
