Built in phone holders or mounting "brackets" should be a standard in modern cars at this point. I have used the andobil one for a year now and have tried a few others and didn't like. First if you live in a hot or cold place and use your heat or ac in the car then you probably don't wanna block your vents with a phone. Especially if you have the heat on and will heat the phone. Second he didn't mention that the andobil also extends and retracts to bring your phone 6 inches closer if you need that. Andobil definitely works great and would recommend.
The phone "mount" I normally use is magnetic - easy on, easy off - the only caveat is the fact I had to superglue the base to the dash and is VERY sturdy. I also superglued the metal plate the magnet needs to grab on to the phone case and it holds up pretty well. Regardless of whatever phone I use, that mount is a permanent fixture and has been reliable for years! I also have iottie-type, but it's mostly used on rental cars when I have to rent a vehicle where a permanent phone mount is a no-no - I simply substituted the "grabbers" with a magnetic head.
Phone mounts have always been a pain for me. The suction cup mounts work best for me but once that adhesive loses grip the first time it never stays up for long and I have to scrap the whole damn thing or else it's gonna crash down out of nowhere and really piss me off.
I would like to see you do a video using these holders or others to have your phone record videos that is what i want to purchase one for so landscape mode in key and so is the direction you can point the phones
I am a truck driver that drives more than 150,000 miles for work each year. I only use the Iottie brand phone holders. I also never use the pads. Just stick them to the side of the dash.
I'm a fan of magnetic phone mounts. I've been using the Casekoo and it has held up for the past 2 years. I live in the desert, where it can get up to +110 and the mount has been solid.
I used magnetic mounts for a while, including one that also did wireless charging. The issue I ran into was using a large, heavy phone required a ridiculously thin case, and still didn't hold super firmly. Obviously not a problem if you prefer reasonably sized phones.
The magnet ones are the best. It comes with the 3M disks with a spare or two. Disks last at least 6 months before losing some of the sticky. I have mine on the lip of the navigation console and it simple, not bulky and works awesome. I drive with Lyft and always moving and touching my phone. Spinning it landscape and back to horizontal along with removing the phone and putting back on the magnet mount constantly. Holds up great in both summer and winter and I live and drive in Chicago.
+1 for magnets. Seeing the mechanisms on these holders seem ridiculously convoluted compared to the $10 two-piece magnet one I've had on my dashboard for 3-4 years now. Never had an issue with the pad losing it's stickiness. I just have it mounted to the top of the dash close to the edge and that works beautifully.
I loved my one I had in my rav, the only problem I had personally is with even 2 magnets on the back of my phone, it would not get thru my case. I kept having to take off my case everytime I needed to use it, which I have kickstand case too. Have you had any experience getting around that?
So I have this case for my S22 Ultra. It has a built in Metal Ring on the back that can be used as a kickstand and when holding your phone you can put your finger thru it so you can have more control of your phone. Plus it'll stick to the dash magnet so you can just place the silver ring on the magnet and you're good to go.
I've been using the iotte one for about 4 years now, every car I get, I put one in and even got my friends to do it too. Where I live, we have extreme weather, in the car it's gotten over 120 in the summer and -1 in the winter, I leave it in the same spot 24/7 and it's always worked perfectly for me. I've never had an issue with it and none of my friends have either.
Hiya! I was surprised you didn’t mention anything about those vent designs blocking the air conditioning. I live in Texas and don’t need anything blocking my vents, but I haven’t tried it. What say you?
I have the Arkon mount that uses small screws. Could never get a suction cup to hold longer than two months before it fell down. My Iottie was very good but also fell after a while in the hot sun.
please forgive me, if this is a stupid question, but if you put your phone in one of those vent mounts, a) doesn't it restrict your enjoyment of your heater/air conditioner? & b) if you do run your heater &/or A/C with your phone there, is that bad for it? maybe not the cool air, but wouldn't it be bad to have warm/hot air being blown onto a phone?
I had a phone holder that was hooked up to my vents and it broke my vents. Also there is phone holder that can be placed in your cup holder with a long bendable thick wire. I would like to see the review for that if your able to include it in a new video.
I've had the Iottie for several years now and am constantly moving it from my personal vehicle to work truck and haven't had any problems with it losing suction. I feel like it also has a good range of motion depending on just where you need to mount it.
Ainope will cut through the rubber and then scratch vent. I had one. The best is when you can just drop your phone and behond is charger. I drive at work 1h-4h per day 2-3times. I just do not want to use nu 2 hends to put mu phone back o take again while i drive.
But can you change the angle on the phone holer with suctioncup so the phone point in the direction you want. So they can face stait for you? (Not meaning horizontal angle)
I won't up getting a rearview mirror mount that you suggested in a previous video she started carrying in your store. It was a life saver, I used it constantly when I was in California on vacation. It's not quite as used now, but I'll use it whenever I need directions!
the iottie comes in a cd slot mounting configuration (I use it) and it's totally solid. ymmv but that's the best spot for a phone holder in my car. really nice product. great reviews as always
I just purchased a new phone holder that is the FBB from Amazon. It appears to be IDENTICAL to the Andobil that you tested, but the retail at Amazon on the FBB is $11.99. I just installed it 3 days ago, so time will tell.
I have the iOttie rechargeable suction mount. I have been using it for 2 years now and have had no issues with the mount itself. Depending on the phone case I use does effect the charging capabilities, but usually just have to push the phone in snug and it works. I've tried vent and magnets and have always had issues with the phones staying in them.
I use the iOttie vent mount phone holder, it's available at Walmart. Windshield and dash mounts for me overtime will loose suction due temperature fluctuations.
Thank you for this video. I have bought 2 or 3 cellphone holders over the years not happy with any of them. Most were the ones that clipped into the vent, but for the ones I bought you had to use both hands not only to get the phone set into place but also to pull it out resulting in the whole gadget coming apart. I liked the one that locked onto the windshield as it seem to stay there for the whole trip.
As a gig worker I have tried just about all kinds of phone mounts. Eventually they all start to fail as time goes by. Now I have my favorite which is Carmount that uses magnet to hold it in place & my does not move or shake when driving or going over speed bumps or potholes.
I use the longcaster (?) on my steering column for the Waze app. I have one that suctions on the windshield ( actually heavy duty one made for boats!) but living in the Vegas area and the high heat in summer have come out to find it on the floor!
I have the iOttie and I think it’s the same one you have but it has wireless charging that’s the only difference. I love it works just like yours and I used the pad it came with and never moved it and don’t plan on it. it’s good to know it’s a one time thing or so it seems from your experience
I’ve had the Loncaster for at least five years and still going. The only problem is placement on dash is limited and if it is hot out “Texas summer “ your phone can get overheated.
I had an Iotte and the glue that held it to the suction cup melted onto my windshield. A few days in the heat was too much for it. I would not recommend any sticky phone holder for dash or windshield, unless you replace every year, to keep the glue from wearing out.
The vent mount holders block the air flow when you use the AC in the Vegas heat and the suction cup mounts I had 1 melt to the window in the heat....something to consider
I have the andobil and the stick on pad didn't work from the box but I have been able to use it as a vent mount with no issues and customer service for them is GREAT
Even before you broke it down and recommended it at the end, I was sole on the Ainope! I went and bought one at the end of this video. Thanks for this!
Any of the windshield/dash mount are probably not going to work for you. Not because it will not function but because the sun will heat the phone to the point it shuts down. I have huge issues with any phone holder that blocks the field of view. As you said I had issues with the phone shaking while driving. I ended up with the cup phone by weathertech. With the updates to my car system once your phone connects to your (my) car, I use Waze pretty exclusively. It actually shows on my nav screen using CarPlay so I do not need to see the map on the phone. I have never found a vent mount that will work for me. Same reason as the windshield mount in hot areas. Heat blowing on the phone is counterproductive to the longevity of any phone battery. I have ended up trashing or rehoming 5-10 phone holders. I have had the cup phone for two years with zero problems with it.
I thought of getting the cup holder, but I need it for my drinks. Lol 😁 I wish they would design one where u can still use it, kinda like things that block outlets will have a plug on the item so u can still use it. Xoxo 🙏🏾💞

I love my iottie is very stable and hold my phone firm, the mount is one use only but I don’t know why you would want to move it, seems like you would make an bolder that was flat unstable
I'm a truck driver. I've used many phone holders over the years. Anything that ratchets to clamp your phone will eventually come apart and become useless. Anything with a suction cup will come off when you least expect it. The best one I've found so far is the tough tested windshield mount phone holder. The suction lasts the longest, and it hasn't become useless up until I got the quad lock. The tough tested won't fit every phone with a case. Quad lock is probably the best because it uses the phone case you get from them to hold the phone. Not to mention having wireless charging as an option.
Have you done Bluetooth phone stuff for the car... for those of us that still don't have it integrated into our vehicles. Ordered the AINOPE though. Been through a couple phone mounts and all of them sucked. Maybe this one will work. If not, only 17$CAD, not a huge waste. Can always give it away.
Thank you for the video! I’m very particular about phone mounts b/c I need to safely use my phone a lot for navigation, music, etc… That said, I wanted to submit the biggest issue I had for 2 of the types of mounts you reviewed. Vent Mount: If you can’t close off the air flow to the vent while using the mount, I would NOT use them. Phones don’t work too well & the batteries can get damaged when they get too 🔥hot🔥 or too ❄️cold❄️. Having hot or cold air directly blasting on them for long periods of time from an air vent can drastically effect the life of your phone. Suction Cup: The addition of a sticky gel like layer to the suction cup is a significant improvement for maintaining a solid air tight seal over time + in some cases will allow it to work on a surface that isn’t completely smooth or flat. But over time, I’ve had the same issue happen w/ multiple brands…. Idk if it’s b/c of the heat from being on the dash, the long term effects of UV rays, or a combo of both, but first the once clear suction cup of the iOttie & other brands turned yellow after 2-3 months & the gel layer seemed to degrade. Even while using the round plate that comes with it, I’d reattach a freshly cleaned suction cup, get a good solid hold, come back after being parked for a few hours & find that it fell off again. Didn’t matter if it was a hot summer day or a cold winter night, same result. Bottom Line: I do like the suction cup mounts best, but they need to be redesigned, so either the suction cups can easily be replaced once they start to fail or the manufacturer needs to formulate a new plastic/gel that can withstand UV rays, hot/cold temps, etc. & hold up better over time.

Always enjoy watching your reviews🧡
My problem with the vent mount is that during the winter time they overheat because it’s a vent and you’re trying to warm up your car.
My thinking exactly. I don't like any of the vent mounted ones. 😁
One solution to that is to set the heating vents to only send heat to the floor vents and the defroster
I do not like any of the vent ones, also I can't stand heat in my face, Heat to the floor only.
I'm a fan of magnetic phone mounts. I've been using the Casekoo and it has held up for the past 2 years. I live in the desert, where it can get up to +110 and the mount has been solid.
Only issue is if you use wireless charging the metal you put on the phone prevents charging. I used magnet mounts until I went wireless charging.
Which magnetic one do u recommend getting? I also do uber/doordash
I bought the ainope but they have the exact one with an extension arm that allows you to move it further away from the vent. Works great.
Thanks for doing the work to show us the best phone holders.
Dear sir can you tell me when you used the adhesive dash pad mount. Did it leave a mark on your dash when removed.
The iottie on a windshield is the best. The push button or either side was east to get used to and it’s perfect when I was doordashing
I dont get the vent ones. It can not be good to have the heat directly blowing on your phone in the winter?
Can you do one for cup holders? I'm struggling to find something good quality.
The Andobil I use on a vent for the last 2 years and it's the best phone holder I've ever used 12 out of 10 stars
Shout out for the MUSE shirt! 🎸🤘
I have the Arkon mount that uses small screws. Could never get a suction cup to hold longer than two months before it fell down. My Iottie was very good but also fell after a while in the hot sun.
Been using the Lamical for 3 years with no issues. Never pulled out of vent. Might switch to the Andobil.
please forgive me, if this is a stupid question, but if you put your phone in one of those vent mounts, a) doesn't it restrict your enjoyment of your heater/air conditioner? & b) if you do run your heater &/or A/C with your phone there, is that bad for it? maybe not the cool air, but wouldn't it be bad to have warm/hot air being blown onto a phone?
I had a phone holder that was hooked up to my vents and it broke my vents. Also there is phone holder that can be placed in your cup holder with a long bendable thick wire. I would like to see the review for that if your able to include it in a new video.
I just got a new cell phone and was looking for ideas for what would work best in the car for me, so thank you for this video review!!!
I've had the Iottie for several years now and am constantly moving it from my personal vehicle to work truck and haven't had any problems with it losing suction. I feel like it also has a good range of motion depending on just where you need to mount it.
I have the IOttie in my truck. Works great. They do have a vent mount version as well.
I have the iOttie and it’s amazing! It’s the only phone holder that’s actually worked for my heavy phone. I didn’t use the mount pad though.
I have the Andobil…it’s vent mounted and I love it. I just did a 1600 mile round trip with no issues.
I use a magnetic mount that i like surprisingly well
Ainope will cut through the rubber and then scratch vent. I had one. The best is when you can just drop your phone and behond is charger. I drive at work 1h-4h per day 2-3times. I just do not want to use nu 2 hends to put mu phone back o take again while i drive.
I bought two that is the same design as the andobil for my work van and they work great. I got used to pressing the button to release the phone. 👍
I know it random but I’ve been watching you for a very long time and your glasses are honest a staple of this channel LMAO
But can you change the angle on the phone holer with suctioncup so the phone point in the direction you want. So they can face stait for you?
(Not meaning horizontal angle)
If you put a phone holder on a vent does it cause your phone to overheat if you have your in-car heating on?
I had pretty good luck with the iOttie when I had it. You can buy it in stores. I bought mine at Fry's but I think Best Buy has them too.
You're right. I bought mine from bestbuy
I won't up getting a rearview mirror mount that you suggested in a previous video she started carrying in your store. It was a life saver, I used it constantly when I was in California on vacation. It's not quite as used now, but I'll use it whenever I need directions!
the iottie comes in a cd slot mounting configuration (I use it) and it's totally solid. ymmv but that's the best spot for a phone holder in my car. really nice product. great reviews as always
i've got the andobil , for the past like 2 years , and still holding up strong on the window
Have you considered reviewing car gps units like Garmin or Tomtom? Ive been considering them so that my phone battery is spared on long trips.
Couldn't agree more. Iottie is a really good brand and their mechanism is pretty much flawless
I got myself the gravity feed AINOPE and it is super cool, definitely the best for geek factor of all these options.
After trying lots of mounts like these, I've settled on magnetic holders. I love just being able to slap my phone on there, no buttons, no levers.
Magnetic holder up-vote party
Which brand do u recommend getting?
FYI, don't use the windshield mount on your drive to CA, they are illegal there.
I live in Indiana…vent mounts will overheat your phone when your using your heat in the fall and winter months
I’ve had the Loncaster for at least five years and still going. The only problem is placement on dash is limited and if it is hot out “Texas summer “ your phone can get overheated.
For people who have theirs on the dashboard how do you use a windshield sunshade in the summertime?
I've been waiting on you to review this for some time. My next desire is for you to review dashcams! Thank you for all you do!
Andobil can be installed with Dashboard and air vent. It's great to be in two places.
Finally, the perfect setup for Pokémon Go.
I had an Iotte and the glue that held it to the suction cup melted onto my windshield. A few days in the heat was too much for it. I would not recommend any sticky phone holder for dash or windshield, unless you replace every year, to keep the glue from wearing out.
5 phone holders with 5 phones. Multitasking masterclass.
I received an iOttie phone mount for my birthday. I'm happy with it. I especially like how pressing the phone against it causes it to snap into place.
Are you going to do a review on wireless Apple Car Play / Android Auto devices?
Lol 😁
I wish they would design one where u can still use it, kinda like things that block outlets will have a plug on the item so u can still use it. Xoxo 🙏🏾💞
@@reneshacurry8324 my car has two cup holders. Somewhere out there is a cup holder that has a second cup holder that spins out to the side. I had one but it did not feel sturdy.
@@isit4ukid Yeah, I have 2 also but I have passengers. 🤦🏿♀😁
@@reneshacurry8324 hmmmm each door pocket also has a “cup” holder which is more suited for a bottle. I am rooting for you and doing everything I can to help out… lol
@@isit4ukid Aww thank u! Thank u very much! 😂
do the suction pumps attach on the surface of the dashboard? most of these have a rough texture...
Vent mounts is a no go for me. Too hot all year long here on Oahu to sacrifice a vent of cool ac air.
Thanks for putting this together. For me, the vent type is a no-no. From December to March I ride with the heater on and that could really damage the cell phone.
I live in a colder climate, I don't feel comfortable with vent clips because of the amount of heat might damage my phone. I use a charger mount.
it's 2023 & car manufacturers make useless infotainment screen. at least they should built-in phone holder
no doubt that holders with grips design is the best one but after using it for a long time i figured out that upper grips is blocking letter in the edges of the phone keyboard. so im looking now for upper grips that is a bit higher to be above phone keyboard
Great video. I don't think I'll use one, but interesting to see what's out there
I love my iottie is very stable and hold my phone firm, the mount is one use only but I don’t know why you would want to move it, seems like you would make an bolder that was flat unstable
My favourite is definitely the i phone case with the cat ears 😂
The iottie has a CD mount for older cars. I love it, and it can go horizontal if needed.
Would the anope work with a pop socket on the back of the phone???
My concerns her is some of these dash mount can damage the dash by removing the top dash coating. Any mount that has not damaged the dash?
The one on dash tilted on its side how was holding up when taking sharp or fast turns?
I have found that some of the suction cups, will stick to the dashboard even without the plastic circle.
I bought the andobil a month ago and it works great on the windshield
I'm a truck driver. I've used many phone holders over the years. Anything that ratchets to clamp your phone will eventually come apart and become useless. Anything with a suction cup will come off when you least expect it. The best one I've found so far is the tough tested windshield mount phone holder. The suction lasts the longest, and it hasn't become useless up until I got the quad lock. The tough tested won't fit every phone with a case. Quad lock is probably the best because it uses the phone case you get from them to hold the phone. Not to mention having wireless charging as an option.
My hook-secured vent mount hasn't come off since day 1 back in May. No other type holder could last more than a month in Florida, without falling off.
I want to use my old phone as my dash cam...what windshield mount would be best
Imagine driving by this guy with all the cell phone holders 😂
You should test them on London roads, as they are most terrible roads in Europe
A phone in front of your windshield can easily hide a pedestrian or motorcycle from your view. That's why it's illegal in many states.
I’m very particular about phone mounts b/c I need to safely use my phone a lot for navigation, music, etc…
That said, I wanted to submit the biggest issue I had for 2 of the types of mounts you reviewed.
I've been using the iOttie mounts for years and they're exceptionally high quality.
