Just my opinion: I remember when I saw clips of this performance, I thought "oh, that's a weird JM tone." Then I saw the official PRS video and thought "yep, very weird tone." Definitely not my favourite - felt very corporate, if that makes any sense? Either way, his playing was still stellar - obviously. Also, love your videos, man!
Yeah he didnt seem that into it at all really lol. But of course Justin Jeske gets on the video saying "its the most inspired i've seen him in a while" lol. Like? I can name at least 3 gravity solos off the top of my head that are better than this one. Thats not to say this one is bad, but this guy just says anything sometimes for these reviews... and we all entitled to our own opinion, so hey lol.
@@JustinJeske Lol well this is a video sharing website right? Right, so naturally one would click on a video to watch. Once you start that "this is the most inspired i've seen him" shit i click off. Only your fans will agree with everything you say. If you sensitive get off youtube. You tryna get noticed by john mayer and he won't notice you lol... you are not objective... you say the same thing every time you get on here. Have the day you deserve Jetski.
@@bringo4392you’re an asshole. Go spread your misery elsewhere. Justin is the man for his work on this channel helping us guitar playing mayer fans emulate some tones. Sure, this gravity solo didn’t speak to me as it did Justin, but that doesn’t mean his opinion is invalid. Hope you find some happiness. Sounds like you could use some.
I mean I’ve been saying to my mates over the years that gravity over the years keeps getting worse but if some people like it that’s their opinion and there’s nothing wrong with that lol but for me gravity was the best between 2005 and 2008 and probably 2013 for the BnR Tour
The people that listen to him a lot esp the live stuff.. will agree that this wasn’t his best tone and not even close. Reason being was it wasn’t his usual rig and not his band. He probably was nervous. I think her purposely tried to play too clean and dry to not hide behind stuff for all the guitarists in the audience. Who knows. But this is pretty far from his tone and he tried a little too different of an approach in my opinion. He looks up to a lot of modern guitar players and they were there watching him so he probably tried to simplify. His Silver sky works with his rig but if it’s just the PRS amps which I’m sure is because duh it is the anniversary show so he kinda had to. For everyone saying it sucked, no it didn’t. It was just a little off to his normal routine and shows.
I honestly think the silver sky is a little stale. Notes do indeed buzz out when bending and you can see it. I had one and it just didn't have the "feel" like my fender cs 1964 strat.
This rig has no sustain. I get more sustain from my squire and roland cube amp. Example: Few times during the solo John is trying to vibrate the note that becomes dead in no time. Even his legato playing was sketchy that day. And we all know this is not due to the lack of technical skills. John said a few times that he must be inspired by the rig itself to perform at his best and that clearly didn’t happen that night. To me this is why so many of us feel something is off with john’s palying. And to stir it up even more - undeniably through the years and thanks to dead&co John’s become more versatile and even more capeable player. However I feel like more and more often during his performances I start to miss some things that made me fall in love with his playin in the first place when i first heard him during the where the light is concert. To sum it up can i please have my Fender John backxd
Thank you for a fantastic John Mayer share!! So good, as usual.
I had been waiting for this video Justin... from the moment I realized John was using a (another) silver Klon! 🙂
uh...maybe the best I've ever heard John . John should join this band ;)
Glad I am not the only one that thought this tone was pretty bad.
Love John…but something was off. Sound wise, vultures solo sounded out of tune, gravity solo sounded pretty hollow…
Philip sayce might of used the twin reverb??? that's right up his street
sayce spec silversky......imagine

Was the DGT for Paul? He said he was playing on one that night in an interview with Lee Anderton.
Think you may have misheard when Paul said he was playing through his 100w MDT? It’s an old amp PRS don’t make anymore.
@ yep, that’s correct 👍
I'm hearing some Robert Cray tones!
Must have been nervous, that was some of the worst playing from him that I can recall.
Yup, and the worst tones..
His usual amps setup was really missing..
I think that's why the playing was off this time too.
Needs to bring back the Two Rock JM Sig and Dumble SSS 002 that’s all he needs
I feel like you know something you can quite let us know yet 😉
I’ve found this is usually the case with Justin haha. However, never fear! Bro always lets us in eventually 😂
Haha it was giving the same vibes as his “faded black tshirt”😂
Another guitar for Justin to buy…
Is not common at all but that Gravity solo sounded weird. He didn’t seemed that comfortable in my opinion 🤨

I've never been a fan of the JMOD100 ..to strident ...sterile. Love the Two Rock/Bandmaster Rig
You mean Bandmaster?
@Clayviation_ yes, that's what I meant. Edited😇
I think it’s cool that he’s experimenting with different things. However, I agree with what others have said. This was a weird sound

Is that a mint green guard? I hope they release one man.
He’s out of his league playing with Mark Lettieri’s band and it sounds like it. His bends are not in tune and there’s no fire in his playing.
That mix is dreadful probably doesnt help johns case when everything is dry and has no bass in it
Sounds like John through my old blues jr. Still good. Just not A game tone.
i don't care for this tone at all. Sounds cheap
I’m a big John Mayer glazer . I’ll defend him all the time .. but I agree , that tone was doo doo
@@alexs9168some of the notes were doo doo too
Yeah not my favorite JM tone tbh. Probably has to do with the rig
Ever since the silver sky the tones have felt cheap. They dont have the same soul that his strats do
@DaLaxer98 Was thinking the exact same thing, especially after bingeing a load of BLK1 vids.
The Silver Sky is a poor imitation of the Strat.
JHS… what? Couldn't make out what he said.
Sounded like he said, "Jhs Box It Later"...
@ that’s what I heard
Couldn't even correctly edit the first 10 seconds of video
