Bruh. After all these years I'm coming back to watch this in preparation for Infinite, and I'm just now noticing that the book that Halsey puts down in the beginning is actually modeled to be the same journal that you got in one of the special editions of Halo Reach! Awesome attention to detail.

I'm PC gamer. Just finished The Master Chief collection. I was disappointed to know that Halo 5 won't be on PC. Your video helped me to catch up on the story. I like the editing, it's nice that the video is without subtitles and commentary. Thank you!

@@MetroidDread313 It certainly isn't the best Halo game, but I really liked it. I think it was negatively perceived because they added Fireteam Osiris as new protagonists, who no one likes. But the story is still good.

Any graphics will always be a tertiary appeal to many gamers.
First comes good gameplay and 2nd comes other points of immersion like story, characters and world building.
And it's not looking too great on those first two sadly. There's a lot of pandering and fan service which I appreciate to some extend but it introduces nothing new which is very disappointing. It even brings the other first generation Spartans from the books and does nothing with them which reveals them to be entirely for fan service as well.
And then it leaves on a very B tier cliff hanger as well... Not sure what to think of this..
On a positive note, the initial mystery was setup very well. And the AIs being treated as 2nd rate citizens is a really cool point of contention. I loved the AI Mayor.
And Sanghelios was cool to see but it didn't seem plot critical at all either.
But then Cortana revealing herself as a cereal box villain plunges all that down again. Someone like me who has read most of the books and played all the games... this is very disappointing.
But ye... graphics look deec 🤣
It's the art style, which unfortunately also ruins it.

That scene could have been much better.
Could have and should have. It would have take all of Osiris team to try and take him and they still would have lost. Spartan II’s were unmatched by any other Spartans after them. Morality aside, it was acknowledged that there was no replacement for creating super soldiers from the age of 6. Besides, by this point, chief had already gone up against the worst the covenant could deal out. Hunters, elites, brutes. Not to mention the Flood and promethians. He’d saved the damn galaxy multiple times. No way anyone or anything could come close to beating him in 1 v 1 hand to hand combat. That scene made no sense.
@@aa134368 yeah they fight looked like 2 drunk guys lmao. And Spartan 2’s are way faster and have a better reaction times than 4’s. 343 really messed that fight up because in the books it’s almost how fast Spartan 2’s are.

Anyone else notice that Buck has a heart with an arrow through it and a V in it, its beneath hit knifes handle. You can see it best during his conversation cutscenes with Locke
Come on though Buck was the best one here the coolest odst armour,shotgun and sense of humor unlike everyone else

Nah. You can maybe say that about 4. As far the story goes (it’s not perfect but way better than 5). But not 5. 5 looks amazing graphically and has a super cinematic feel to it. And the multiplayer was better than 4. The story was bad
That's because Buck is just being Cayde-6. It's already an established character that he's being, people just don't know it unless they also played Destiny.

I think the biggest flaw was the advertisement for the game vs what actually happened, after coming back and watching this over again to me it seems more “okay” then the first playthrough. I applaud 343 for being bold and bringing in newer characters and making Cortana the new threat, But even halo 2 had more Chief in it than this one. Another bummer for me is that I don’t read the books so jumping from game to game is a bit harder to understand certain things in the story, so it would be nice if a youtuber mad a vid explaining the inbetweens.
343s biggest mistake was assuming people would just read the books, and it really sabotaged the games potential. If they just set the game a bit back in the timeline, it wouldn’t be such a whiplash to see all this. I seriously don’t know what they were thinking.

You should do the movie thing from each Spartans perspective. It adds new dialogue. It’s really cool
Cheeky modern FPS developers include signs of the helmet at the periphery of the screen, meaning that anything blocked by the gun being used and the helmet doesn't have to be rendered, allowing them to achieve performance that other genres can't match due to having no suitable excuse to block ~15% of the screen.

Okay, Halo 5 might not have the story that we all wished for, but the sound effects of the game are awesome, especially on the cutscenes.

@@MetroidDread313 To me, there were a lot of great highlights of Halo 5, like the reunification of Blue Team, the Swords of Sanghelios, the cliffhanger of Cortana, and much more. As I play it more, I am starting to appreciate many parts of the campaign. One gripe I have of the game however is that Master Chief was not shown frequently enough. In my opinion, I felt as though this was more of Spartan Locke's story than the Chief's.
The story is great. There should've been more blue team.

It's kind of crazy how Halo 4 came out in 2012 and Halo 5 release in 2015, yet the quality of the game looks like it's a decade newer.
Jump between consoles and also insanely large studio and budget. Also halo 4 looks incredible, not that far off 5.

So even though 343i absolutely fucked up with this Halo, the graphics are still awesome, and Halo 4 was great. Fun fact: The makers of Halo 5 didn't know the Master Chief was the main character. Hoping 343i learned their lesson with the story from this Halo for Halo 6.

Okay, people bitched and moaned about this campaign, but I personally don’t see what all the fuss is about. Yeah, Locke and Strike Team Osiris can be just... a BIT grating at times, but at least they’re interesting enough that it counteracts their more annoying aspects. And I can understand how Locke can go... a BIT toe to toe against John, and the length of their fight was about what I expected. Don’t understand the hate.
I dunno about others the story was good for me
The only time I have personally seen Locke's character used in the halo continuity other than halo 5 was halo nightfall. A less than reputable movie where Locke and his squad of odst's are sent to the alpha halo. And the whole plot of that movie irked me. It felt nothing like halo, and the acting was subpar. No disrespect to the actors though.
The enemies were a neat concept. Them being a race of insects which can s ense the presence of technology (which all their weapons cant function without for whatever reason.).

I agree, I only played about half of the campaign before personal events removed me from the use of the console(and by extension halo 5), but I can give some evidence.
From what I saw, he only ever followed the orders given to him. He never questioned why they were chasing the master cheif or the rest of blue team. (To be fair, I only played through about half of sanghelios. And that was about a couple months after the games release so I never got to finish the game.)
For when you don't use subtitles can you atleast balance out the sound better like in movies? like making sound effects 80 and voices 100? I couldnt hear a single sentence over gun fire which kind of ruins the reason why I'm watching this. I think i heard 30% of the wardens dialogue in this video and i cant think of a good movie where you cant hear the villian for most of his scenes. Otherwise phenomenal editing to make this feel like a movie, some of the cuts are so clean and the working in in game dialogue is exactly what i needed to catch up. Great video overall
