Nate is by far my favorite trainer to watch online. He's gentle, patient, and you can tell he truly is passionate about the pups.
I noticed when training birds, it helps to watch them play. When you see a behavior you think you can modify into a great trick you capture the behavior by clicking the second the bird does it. Then get it to do it on command. At that point you can build more behaviors to it, to make a trick people respond to when you put it in the show.
ie; fly to a mailbox
Fly with a letter to the mailbox
Put it in the box
Close the door on the box, until you have it flying to the box, mailing the letter, put the flag up, the fly back to get paid.
Paint the word "Airmail" on the side of the box and place the box on the top of a 10ft pole for a finished trick. Capturing a behavior is a very handy tool.

This a fun trick! I have introduced Rusty to both versions but had tabled trick training as we focused on OB techniques during our lessons. It is fun for both of us to start incorporating tricks back into regular training sessions for the variety and to "proof" techniques I am learning in our lessons.
Yes. The more interesting we can make the training for our dogs, the faster they learn. :)

Lol! Funny thing is that she didn't know how to do this when I made the video. She just knew how to follow a lure. :)

Great video. My poodle picked this up very quick with your method. The only difference is she has 0 sense of urgency lol. She just causally walks in between my legs. It’s pretty funny. Any tips on how to get her to pick up speed?

I have a question. My dog is not interested in treats that i have but he is more interested in the toy. Should I buy new treats or continue with a toy?
I would try to find something the pup likes. Remember, you can also use meal time as training time. Meaning, you use your dogs food for training. If your dog doesn't want to work for the food, no problem. Put the food up and try again at dinner. Once your pup knows that he needs to work for his food, his food motivation will go up. :)

also how would you weave in and out of a string of poles please?
Bruce it’s the same idea. Start with the poles staggered so they don’t have to turn so sharply between each pole. I found it’s easier to attach two commands “In” to go away from me into the poles and “Out” to come Back towards me through the poles. Weave poles are a very difficult command though, so have patience! As your dog gets better you can slowly put the poles in more of a straight line until they are weaving just like an agility dog.

From my experience, Huskies shed way more. :)
