    After watching your video I went into the garden to check out the taste of my purple dead nettles which I considered a pretty wildflower but didn't know they were edible too. Wow - fantastic taste! Thank you for valuable information and for enriching my culinary life as well. Greetings from Sweden.

    Good health! 🌿 Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I live in New York City, USA. Dead nettle caught my attention for the first time a few weeks ago. I never noticed it before. I felt a strong connection to it so I used my Plant App to identify it but wasn't sure of its uses. This past weekend I volunteered at a community garden and it stood out to me again. This morning, I came across your video about dead nettle when I was searching for information about cleavers. Wow! I will be working with this plant. I'm convinced that it wants to work with me for specific healing. Thank you again.

      I just left Long Island for Virginia. I wanted to say, it's wonderful that even in the city, you're able to enjoy these things! Community gardens are one of the greatest things to pop up ll over in the last decade or 2.

    I've got white nettles all around the house, so very happy about that. Great story. And by the way it is said that is good to pay attention to the wild herbs growing freely just where one lives as they may just be the ones one actually needs to improve one's health

    I love your videos and your beautiful theme music! I've been pulling purple dead nettle out of my garden every year and throwing it on the compost pile, so I guess I have extra-good compost! Now that you taught me its value, I'll be eating it rather than throwing it out. I live in New Jersey, USA, and the local farm fields are blooming with the purple variety at this time of year. It's really lovely en masse.

    I knew they were edible, when I was a child we use to eat them flowers with my friends, but had no clue about their leaves are edible too. It would be nice if you could make us a video on how to make a soup out of them. It would be much appreciated. Thank you for the video and I wish to keep it up. Greetings from Spain.

    Thank you for this information. Everywhere I look in my yard, I see Purple Dead Nettle. I've always wondered what it was and if it had medicinal properties. From a distance it resembles Heal-All which I've used since childhood, However Purple Dead Nettle doesn't grow where I was raised in Montana, and Heal-All is quite scarce where I'm now living. Only this year I happened upon information identifying it. I wish that I had a way to post a photo of the massive patches that I am about to harvest. Thank you again!

    Awesome video! I live in UK England but I'm originally from Romania in Eastern Europe, I remember the dead nettles from my childhood as pretty looking weeds. I always loved foraging, in Romania people forage mostly nettles and wild garlic in the spring. Now I've discovered a lot of weeds my grandma would feed to the chickens or pigs are perfectly good to eat for humans too!!!

    • @AlissaSss23
      @AlissaSss23 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also my parents used to forage (and still do) blackberries, wild raspberries, wild strawberries, forest nuts, no one ever knew that a lot of things from our gardens that we see as damaging weeds are delicious and nutritious for people too!

    This video was very helpful! Just tried a raw flower and it was delightfully sweet.

    Wonderful, THANK YOU! There are tons of Yellow and Purple dead nettles where I live in a forest. They are invasive and are illegal in the county south of here. I just learned the yellow version is edible which could be one way to curtail the invasion which crowds out the native plants here in Washington State USA.

    You mentioned that yellow dead nettle was illegal in the US, can you provide a source you got that information from? I'm having trouble finding anything about that mentioned anywhere online. Purple dead nettle grows fairly abundantly in spring here in the southeastern US and I've been looking into other varieties and cultivars of Lamium plants, some of the yellow ones are gorgeous.

    Never seen yellow nettle - but yea - purple dead nettle - i use often; i've heard from another video - got it's name from it's latin origins which means purple monster of death; because it would destroy farming fields - highly invasive plant. The first one, white one, looks like mustard garlic.... Maybe it's the same thing? That or looks a lot like it. I'm in Jersey - USA.

    • @homeiswhereourheartis
      @homeiswhereourheartis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They look slightly similar but have key differences it would be difficult to mistake the two. Google search garlic mustard & then white dead nettle you'll see when you compare them the difference 🙂

      I just had to look myself. Invasive species. Funny how most invasive species in USA are actually full of medicine people could benefit from.i let my backyard go back to nature and it fills with many healthy edibles. The other weird part is grass is grain. Once a food crop of independence now a fine if you don't cut it 🤔

    Having worked in radio, I know adjusting sound, also know as potting up, or potting down, is very simple with basic equipment that don't require extensive training to operate...why does TH-cam neglect this simple and inexpensive procedure? Turning volume fully up too hear video no louder than a whisper, then being pummeled by blasting commercial volume is antithetical to promoting advertisment as the pain of hearing so loud a broadcast shuts down all receptivity to listen...!

    • @homeiswhereourheartis
