    I think the "lack of third party lenses" issues is overblown. The argument seems to be that enthusiasts need budget options, and as an enthusiastic amateur I agree. That said, Canon has actually done an amazing job with its own budget line e.g. the RF 100-400 zoom, the F11 primes, the nifty fifty, etc in terms of both price and performance. Although I do use an L-series RF 100-500 for birds/wildlife, I otherwise depend on budget lenses. As long as I have access to a budget options, I don't really care if the lenses have "Canon" or "Sigma/Tamron" on the label.
    As to noise and low-light performance, modern sensors and de-noising software have relegated this issue to the past, at least for still photography. I admit that that the rolling shutter is a real concern, though easily avoided by shooting with the mechanical or first curtain electronic shutter (and I have no issue with the 15 fps maximum frame rate available in these modes). As for the IBIS wobble, I shoot weekly sports videos, and I have never seen anything as egregious as your example. If your footage is representative, I can understand your frustration, but I can't really explain why I've never seen anything comparable.
    Obviously, this represents just my opinion, but I just can't get heated up over the "third party lens" issue.

      @timovehkaoja  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, as it always goes, if you find good lenses for your photography, it is good. I personally don’t photograph birds or wildlife, so basicly my need for a telezoom ends at 150mm or 200mm. And f/11 for me is suuuper slow and I could never deal with that with my photography.
      The RF lineup lacks the Holy Triangle for APS-C sensor at f/2.8. That is something the Sigma already has, after they introduced the 10-18mm f/2.8. The only question is why Canon does not want to create f/2.8 lenses for their APS-C cameras? They also could make a 10-18mm f/2.8, an 18-50mm f/2.8 and a 50-150mm f/2.8 (which sigma already has btw).
      Modern denoise tools are amazing, but for someone who is just stepping into the game, introducing tools like Topaz or Lightroom might just turn them away.
      And that IBIS footage you saw was from R7 with EF-S 10-18mm. Real deal. It is not always that bad, but usually with handheld footage and 10mm focal lenght that is what you get.

      @@timovehkaoja That's fair. The "long telephoto" lenses for birds/wildlife are really quite good, and even the "slow" apertures aren't as limiting as you might expect. After all, it was only a few years ago when my DSLR wasn't able to autofocus beyond F\8, which is no longer an obstacle with mirrorless tech.That said, my main lens for birding is the RF 100-500, which is most certainly not a budget option. It's lighter than the Tamron 100-400 Di VC and Sigma 150--600C that it replaced in my bag, the dual focus motors are accurate and responsive, the image stabilization works well with with R7 IBIS, and the image quality is spectacular. If you can manage the price, it's worth it IMO.

    I own R7 for a year now, with RF-S 18-150. I also have RF 100-400, RF 28 f/2.8, EF 24-105 f/4 L and some vintage M42 lenses. I COMPLETELY agree with you. On every single point you mention. The R7 replaced my dead 40D and for indoor / family, the 15 year old 40D was better. The R7 misses AF focus all the time in low light. The noise throws off the dual pixel AF, I believe. The 40D has the traditional dedicated AF sensor and it nails focus every time, also in low light. If you shoot wildlife, the prime niche of the R7, it misses AF focus A LOT as soon as light is less than ideal.
    Canon also insists on making these useless dark lenses for RF-S, which makes NO SENSE AT ALL. I used the R7 with the full frame RF 28mm f/2.8 for street photography in Berlin in October 2023 and it did great. The RF 28mm f/2.8 is bright enough to make the R7 AF snap in focus. And it is the only lens I own that is sharp enough to not be the limitation on IQ: the limit with this lens is the pixel level at this 83.2 Mpix FF equivalent resolution, this is a really sharp lens as long as you don't shoot it wide open. I use it at f/5.6 or f/8 for street. What the R7 needs is RF-S ultra sharp and bright lenses. An RF-S 18-150 f/2.8 L is what this camera needs. But Canon won't make it. And won't allow anyone else to.
    Canon wants to push you to full frame, that is their strategy. And they succeeded with me: I got so frustrated with the R7 that I also bought the R8, while I never wanted to own two camera bodies. The R8 is absolutely fantastic and outperforms the R7 on every single photography aspect except wildlife. 24.2 Mpix is not enough for wildlife unless you buy stupidly expensive glass. That is where the R7 shines IF it was able to focus. The shocker: indoors even with a RF-S lens mounted on it, the R8 outperforms the R7 for family / party shots in practice. Even though it is "only" 9 Mpix cropped. The R8 + 28 mm f/2.8 is an absolute dream of a compact and light package making absolutely awesome street images for the price. I used it in Lisbon last month and it is shockingly good. The fuzz about needing 2 cards and a bigger battery... not for me. I never had a CF or SD fail on me (I'm 62) and I bought the R8 in a deal that included a second battery: I don't need more. I've had to use the second battery one day because I did not recharge the one that was in it and used all day the day before. If you are not a wildlife shooter, buy the R8, not the R7, that would be my advice.
    And while I do agree you are not looking for an expensive lens if you bought the R7 at that price point, I believe there is some nuance to it. Expensive glass keeps its value a lot better than a body. And with the R7 (or R8), you can still upgrade your package by pairing it with a fantastic lens, the body is more than good enough to handle it. That is perhaps another way of looking at it. And while Canon precludes RF native AF third party stuff, the EF / RF adapter works fine. Yes, it is a bit of extra bulk. But a Sigma 18-35 EF was never going to be compact anyway. At the same time, the Canon non-L RF primes like the 28, 35, 50 and 85 do a great job, are affordable and are as sharp as L's when stopped down a little.

      Wow, a monster of a comment, thank you for taking the time to write it! Appreacited!
      Yeah, same here, I don't understand why Canon insists on making absolutely useless RF-S lenses. It seems like they don't appreciate their APS-C user at all. Sigma has a full lineup of f/2.8 lenses, the 10-18mm f/2.8, 18-50mm f/2.8 and the older 50-150mm f/2.8 which are absolutely amazing, and they would complete the Holy Trinity set for APS-C, but Canon has no interest in making that. Stupid.
      I tested the R8 also, but I found the lack of IBIS bothering me, as it would have been otherwise a great camera for both, photo and video. But other than that it is a solid camera also on that price range, especially since it's full frame!
      I have had one SD card fail on me during the past 20 years of photography, and that was enough. When doing customer work like weddings or even just school projects that you can't replicate, I don't trust to shoot to one card only. One failure was enough.
      But think about it, Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 with this camera, with RF mount. That would be a dream lens. Or the 18-50mm f/2.8. But no.

    • @PhilippeDHooghe
      @PhilippeDHooghe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree, again. I am not a pro shooting for money, I am an amateur at best. Primarily photo.
      On IBIS for video, I also understand since for you SONY did nail it. James Reader likes the R8 not having IBIS as he prefers it to the wobble of an IBIS you cannot turn off.

    • @timovehkaoja
      @timovehkaoja  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PhilippeDHooghe Yeah, basicly I understand that, if it doesn’t work in the way you like it, you don’t need it. R8 is in every other way an amazing camera, just didn’t suit my needs as I am more video oriented these days than photo oriented.

    I bought the R7 right when it came out as well as the 100-400. It's a great budget setup but I ended up selling that lens and got the 100-500 for extra reach and way better quality while zooming in. The R7 was a great beginner camera but it has some issues when trying to record quickly or using too heavy lenses for it. When I upgraded to the R6 MK2 I noticed that the quality on full frame was better than APC even when cropping in.
    I would highly recommend the R7 as a beginner hybrid camera if you're comfortable with the current lenses but honestly with the EF adapter there isn't really any shortage of lenses

    • @timovehkaoja

      Exactly, if you are ok with using the EF-RF adapter, there is no shortage of good lenses. The difficulties come with the RF lenses and the third party cinemalenses, like Sirui and 7Artisans.

    I love your videos man. Thanks for this. I too absolutely love the R7. I got it because I already had some APSC lenses and because the price, combined with the resolution and the fact that it had the same AF system as the R3 made it a no brainer. I also wanted to make videos and not having a limit of 30 minutes at 4K 30FPS just made it that much sweeter. I got both a EF-RF adapter with drop-in filter capability (the Mieke one) and a speedbooster (the Viltrox), and I also picked up some SICK lenses (they were expensive, but I got some of them second hand). So essentially now, because I have the two adapters, each of my lenses are essentially TWO lenses, depending on which adapter I use. With the Viltrox, the full frame lenses I bought become near full-frame on the R7, and if I want to punch them in, I use the Mieke. The quality of images I get with this setup is INSANE. And yes, while low light performance with the R7 is not as good as with a full-frame like the R5, it's still amazing what you can achieve with a fast lens and Lightroom's AI-based noise reduction. Overall, I think the R7 is the best value in the Canon line, and combined with these adapters and some awesome lenses (like an 85mm F1.4 with IS, a nifty fifty, a 70-200 (I got the F4 which is super compact and sharp), and of course the legendary Sigma 18-35 f1.8) I don't think you can get this overall versatility and quality for the price with any other setup.

      The only camera around the same pricepoint that competes with the R7 (in my opinion) is the Sony A6700. It is a bit more expensive, but then again, you'd get the full lineup of Sigma lenses to work with, which are less expensive. But my problem with the A6700 is the build. It doesn't FEEL like a pro camera, but more like a toy. This is just personal preference though.
      But in the Canon lineup, the R7 gives most for it's price, absolutely. The R8 comes close second.

    I have to honestly say that I have a love-hate relationship with this camera. I bought it when my R5 was out of commission for a few weeks from there I immediately found out when you shoot electronic shutter the banding is just terrible and then it went into autofocus issues. I do tons of wildlife photography especially things like eagles in flight. I tested the Sigma 150-600, the Canon 100-400 Mark ii, the Canon RF 100‐500, the Canon 500 mm F4, 800mm f11 and ALL the lenses came out with the same Focus issue. It focuses on the subject and then it focuses behind the subject in front of the subject and then back to the subject. After about a hundred fifty thousand images I was about to lose my mind until I watched a video from Duade Paton. He called Canon ans THEY ADMITTED the camera has this issue and eventually offered a firmware update that was supposed to help fix the issue but because it is apparently a hardware issue we'll have to wait for the MARK II.. I also own the R5 R6 Mark II R7 R8 and still have an RP that I only shoot TH-cam videos with. I think for the price point I would definitely probably at this point get the R8. It has an AMAZING sensor, takes beautiful images and has a newer auto focus. The burst is 40fps and the banding is just not there like the R7. The only trade-off is you don't get the second card slot and you don't get the crop factor . But you do get way better low light capabilities as well as all the above things mentioned. The R7 was a real let down for me. All I can say is that is my personal experience. And I spend 12-hour days shooting these bodies back and forth across multiple lenses.

      @timovehkaoja  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Okay, wow, a monster of a comment! Thanks for taking the time to write it!
      Yes, Canon has indeed admitted that the R7 has an issue with the autofocus when shooting with the highest framerate on electronic shutter. Personally, it was not an issue for me, as I rarely used the 30fps drive mode, but what I have read about the subject is basicly unacceptable. About the R7 mk II coming, I have my doubts, and if it will come, it is going to be a few more years before it hits the market. They have many issues to resolve that the users of the R7 have pointed out (IBIS wobble, the 30fps AF issue, lack of battery grip to name just few). Also, which sensor are they gonna go with the mk II is still a question, so I would not be holding my breath, as the APS-C lineup is clearly not so important for Canon.
      R8 is a great camera for the price, but to me it felt like a toy as I was testing it out. Cheap feelin plastics, only one cardslot, no IBIS... It was not the camera for me. Out of the blue I don't remember what sensor it has, so can't say much about that atm.
      The R7 has it's issues, but then again, it is a 1500 dollar hybrid APS-C body, so for the price point you get a lot, but you need to know the limitations.

    I don't understand why there is such a hesitancy to mention or recommend the Canon rf-s 18-150mm (29-240 equivalent) & 10-18mm (16-29 equivalent) kit lenses. I own both for use on my R7, particularly as a lightweight and compact travel setup. For many people this is all they need, and the picture quality is actually quite good. I also own an R5 with Canon ef 16-35mm f/4L (w/ef-rf adapter), rf 100-500L, and Tamron ef 35-150mm f/2.8-4 (w/ef-rf adapter) lenses, and others, so I understand the benefit of "good glass", but the R7 with Canon rf-s kit lenses is not bad. 18-150mm is f/6.3 at 150mm. That’s why. 10-18mm is slow all around, as it starts from f/4.5. Sigma just made a 10-18mm f/2,8 for APS-C cameras. Why not Canon?

    • @rayl801
      @rayl801 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. The shorts answer is size, weight, and higher cost for f2.8. However, regarding lens aperatures, it all depends on what type of photography you enjoy. For someone such as me who primarily takes outdoor landscape, travel, wildlife, fast / wide aperature is for the most part a non-issue. If you need to do photography in low light conditions, or want shallow depth of field portrature, then it's likely that fast lenses are a must. You also can always use any number of various ef mount lenses with the ef-rf adapter on the r7.

    If there's any truth to those rumors about a R7ii coming in 2024, I'd be first in line if they increase the the sensor readout speed; it may have been decent compared to it's peers at the time of release, but with competitors moving towards stacked sensors I'd love to be able to shoot in something the quality of 4KFine without the jello at every footstep or speedy pan, and not have the autofocus wandering because the sensor speed can't keep up with the lens's. Canon really needs to open up the mount too, though as a primarily wildlife shooter we do have plenty of native options at every budget!

    Great video. I really love my R7. As far as for Sony they have very different prices in Europe than those they do in the US. Many of their bodies require expensive media, the control app is not as great as Canon's, the menus - not as intuitive, and there's some blue-ish tint in the skin tones. Some people enjoy the latter others don't. What Sony really have is immaculate influencer game. That's just undeniable.

      R7 is great, love it too and I have very little bad things to say about it.
      Sony prices in US are because of the taxes. Same goes with basicly every camera. Menu’s are not as good, but I think it is just a thing you get used to as you set your custom buttons etc. I personally prefer the Sony skin tones over the Canon’s greenish tint 😄

    • @potbtech
      @potbtech 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timovehkaoja Oddly, Canon and Panasonic prices for both bodies and glass are pretty consistent across the globe. When I asked the local Sony retailers, they said it is a Sony thing. When I turned directly to Sony, they said I should ask the local retailers, and this could have left a better first impression.
      As far as for the Canon tint, I don't pretend to have the most accurate perception, but to me it is more of a reddish. Haha. That's why I also like Lumix color science though not as much as Canon's.
      Regarding the RF glass, Canon could have done a better job, perhaps offering larger selection... or open the mount to third party manufacturers, like Sigma.
      Another, I'd add is that the internal ND adapter has a massive color shift, so you basically need the standard one too, as merely getting the transparent/glass attachment for it is totally impractical (IMHO) as they don't even offer a case for it.
      IMHO, Canon can really take notes from Sony's approach of offering photo and video centric variations of their bodies. An R7 with a fan, full-size HDMI, Log 2 and no Canon flaps would be something many people would actually buy. But it is what it is.

    Hi Timo. Great video. I am thinking between R8 and R7 for real estate photography and also family, birds, sport. I really like R7 buy I worry about it slow light performance. So I would like to ask you, if I am going to use R7 on a tripod at low ISO but long shutter speed, will the images be still noisy? And I am not looking to do multiple exposures blending. Thanks

    • @timovehkaoja
      @timovehkaoja  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! If you are looking for a camera for real estate photos, you will need to buy a wide angle lens. For R7 there is the RF-S 10-18mm or the EF-S 10-22mm or EF-S 10-18mm. The EF-S lenses require the EF-RF mount. Few weeks ago I did real estate photography with the R7 and the EF-S 10-22 with no additional light (because the power was cut from the apartment), using tripod and bracketing mode with long shutter speeds, and the images turned out beautiful. The long exposure brings some noise, but not nearly as much as higher ISO would bring.
      If you are thinking about the R8 for real estate, it will work fine, but for that one also you will need a wideangle lens, which cost way more money for fullframe cameras. From the RF lineup you are looking for lenses like 15-35mm f/2.8 or 14-35mm f/4. EF lineup offers 16-35mm f/2.8 also, and if bought secondhand, they are going to be considerably cheaper.

  • @nbroadsman
    @nbroadsman 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The R7 with the EF-RF adapter (or better still the Control ring EF-RF adapter which gives you full control ring functionality on any old lens) gives you access to almost every EF and EF-S mount lens ever made, from Canon and third party manufacturers, in the last 30+ years which must surely give you the biggest range of lenses at all prices with massive amounts available, some at incredibly cheap prices, on the secondhand market. I don't think there is such a range, so readily available, for any other brand. Added to that the range of RF and RF-S lenses is growing all the time. You can't blame Canon for wanting to make some return on the huge investment in introducing the RF mount and associated technology/intellectual property rights before opening up the flood gates to third party manufacturers or wanting to avoid the risk of third party lenses not fully functioning or focussing properly so damaging Canon's reputation (and we have seen other camera manufacturers sell off divisions with uncertain futures due to unprofitability and I would prefer Canon to be there for the long haul so I have an upgrade path in future). It would also preclude Canon from making any initial amendments to the way the mount works as it matures as no doubt the same people clamouring for 3rd party lenses would be up in arms if their third party lenses stopped working properly if Canon made amendments which could only be accommodated by their own mechanisms. The Canon R7 is a brilliant camera for the price and I am very happy with mine as I knew what I was buying and what the limitations might be (and for me the strengths outweighed any weaknesses) and I was prepared to accept that for the reasonable price I paid. There will obviously be people who have different requirements (e.g. low light or video specialists) and for whom the R7 will not be the best choice but as always you need to decide what your needs and priorities are and buy the camera that most suits your needs for a budget you can afford. As for high ISO noise, personally shooting in RAW and using DXO Photolab Elite with the fantastic DeepPRIME XD noise reduction software I don't really have concerns about high ISO and I have perfectly acceptable wildlife photos taken in poor light at ISO 16,000.

      @timovehkaoja  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Okay, first of all, thanks for the monster of a comment! It has to be the longest I have ever had for any of my videos!
      Firstly, yes, the EF and EF-S lineup is awesome. But now we are talking about RF mount lenses. As said in the video, if you are okay with the EF mount and using EF lenses, that is good. But when we compare the older Canon EF lenses, there are some which cannot handle the resolution of the R7's sensor. Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L as a good example. It just was not good enough for the R7, which is why I ended up selling it. The 32,5 megapixel APS-C sensor is a VERY DEMANDING sensor when it comes to the lenses. That is why the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 ART works so well on the R7, since it was specially designed for APS-C sensor.
      I am not blaming Canon for for making return on their invest, I am blaming them for not taking care of their APS-C customers and not creating lenses that are actually GOOD for their APS-C sensor. Sigma has a full lineup of lenses for APS-C cameras with different mounts, Sony being one. A while back I asked people what lenses they use for vlogging with APS-C cameras and the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 had just came out. Why can't Canon do something like that? Why can't Canon create the holy trinity for crop APS-C? Think about it, RF 10-18mm f/2.8 for 900 dollars, 18-50mm f/2.8 for 900 dollars and 50-150mm f/2.8 for 900 dollars. Why isn't this happening? They have the tools, the ability and the users for those lenses. But as it seems, Canon either does not care about their APS-C users or they think they are not serious enough to create dedicated lenses to. And BTW, Sigma has that lineup, just not for RF because Canon. That is why I am upset that Canon does not release their RF mount even for creating APS-C lenses.
      And also, Canon is not responsible if the 3rd party lenses work with their mount or not. Same goes with the EF mount and 3rd party adapters.
      I am super happy that you have been pleased with the R7, as have I. It is a beast of camera and as a hybrid APS-C it still is absolutely amazing!

Then, as the new mount is released to the public they *start* the process of vetting and approving third party manufacturers (to ensure quality control) that vetting process, as well as the third parties developement process, probably started smack dab in the middle of the pandemic) - my guess is that this might have affected the announcement of third party partnerships, approvals and upcoming products in developement in a *big* way, this makes a lot of sense and might explain why we are now hearing rumours about sigma announcing *something* pretty soon :)

    You can get and use any cheap Sigma lens with the RF adapter!!!!! Work get!!! It’s stupid to not buy a Canon R series because no 3rd party lenses!!!all my EF L-series lenses works great on my R7!!!

      I hope you didn't use all the exclamation marks for that comment.
      It is not stupid to concider some other brand because Canon is withholding the RF mount. It would be stupid not to. Canon has not made any good RF-S lenses, whereas Sigma has 10-18mm f/2.8, 18-50mm f/2.8 and 50-150mm f/2.8, all specificly designed for the APS-C cameras. Not to mention the 18-35mm f/1.8 ART. But none of them are available for the RF mount, because Canon doesn't create lenses like that.
      And no one said that EF-lenses don't work well. If you are happy using them with the adapter, be my guest. In this video I was talking about RF lenses, and I didn't even mention the cinemalenses from 3rd party like Sirui and 7artisans.
      Canon is shooting themselves in the leg.

    The lack of third party is a good thing. First off this camera isn’t for beginners. Think about all the lens related problems you hear about the rf mount cameras, how many of them are third party related? And how many of them are canon ef/rf related? The more I hear horror stories about third party lenses havin issues including my own tamron g2 glass problems, the more I commend cannon for their decision. I’m gettin rid of all my third party glass and getting/adapting RF/ EF Lglass. Canon doesn’t need people buying comprimised glass,having problems, and blaming the lens mount. People that have a problem should just jump ship. Ef glass works damn near flawlessly

    • @SamA-kl6pi
      @SamA-kl6pi หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also to say the “best lens” is a sigma lens the question is “best” for who? I have that lens, I love it, but I almost never use it. It’s a big heavy pig, I prefer my ef 16-35 f4l is usm of the efs 17-55 f2.8. Because you get phenomenal, factory supported, literally cinema quality glass, stabilization, and the iso noise is good up to 12800, for the same weight.

    • @timovehkaoja
      @timovehkaoja  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Err, thanks for your opinion, but no it is not.
      The R7 is a semipro camera body which is perfect for beginners also, as the beginner photographer doesn’t need to get frustrated with the limitations of buying a cheaper camera. I made a video on this matter also.
      ”Think about all the lens related problems you hear about RF mount cameras, how many of them are third party related?” Errr, none, because there are very few 3rd party RF lenses? It is like asking how many traffic incidents unicorns cause every year.
      Not every third party lens can be perfect or enev function with the new R-series cameras, but you need to remember that they were not designed for mirrorless cameras. And no, not all Canon EF lenses don’t work flawlessly either with R-series.

    • @timovehkaoja
      @timovehkaoja  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SamA-kl6pi f/4 vs f/1.8, needs no explanation. R7 is an APS-C body, so it needs all the light. And the bokeh and background separation is better. And I am sorry to crush it, but EF 17-55 f/2.8 is far from cinema quality. It is a good lens, yes, but far from cinema quality.

    Regarding your first point about third party lenses, please not base ANY advice rumors. Rumors are generated by everyone. Canon wil not release any third party. Second point about lowlight in APS-C . If you want to compare do not use Canon, Nikon or Sony who doesn’t care for APS-C. Go to Fuji and there you will see a manufacturer who take APS-C. Third, if you are talking about stabilization have you tried Panasonic S5IIx? If you want to advise people about please ge out of Canon and Sony church and test other brands like Panasonic. Muy I advice for a beginner who is a hybrid shooter check the Panasonic cameras for video. Open Gate recording. Pro Res, output RAW in Blackmagic RAW and ProRes RAW.

    • @timovehkaoja
      @timovehkaoja  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, none of advice was based on rumors. Like I said, rumors have been around since 2019 and we’ve been waiting for years. As stated, we MIGHT have some lenses from Sigma, no one knows if, when or if ever.
      APS-C can never be as good in low light as a fullframe, that is a technical fact, not an opinion. Smaller sensor, less light.
      On this video I talked about the IBIS of Canon and the stabilization of Sony. And that was there to make people concider other options. As I have no experience with shooting Panasonic, I can’t offer any recommendations about them.
      Thanks for your comment 👍🏻

      I would never buy Panasonic. If I gave up with Canon and I would go to Sony or Nikon. They did make decent ghetto blasters back in the 80s though.. also how are you supposed to make reviews on all these cameras if you don't own them. Who's supposed to pay for that?

      @@photobeast Depends what you shoot with your camera. If you are still shooter then every camera is great. If you are a hybrid shooter or more video focused then Panasonic gives you a lot of features for the money. Also their S line of FF lenses are based for the video shooter. Canon does not give you internal Prores recording, all I codec, many different framerates, Open Gate recording, 4:2:2 10 bit recording, recording to SSD in all their under 2000 USD camera. Something that Sony and Canon are not doing.
