Queen Mary and King Frederik celebrate the New Year with the rest of the royal family

King Frederik, Queen Mary, and Crown Prince Christian, Princess Benedikte, Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the annual New Year’s dinner at Christian VII’s Palace in Amalienborg, Copenhagen. The event gathered the Danish government, the Speaker of Parliament, and representatives of official Denmark alongside the royal court to mark the beginning of the year in grand style.

Princess Benedikte looks very nice in this beautiful purple velvet dress and her pearls and fringe tiara. Princess Marie looks stunning in her blue velvet dress and her tiara, it's sad the Danish royal family does not possess a good selection of royal tiaras because Princess Marie can certainly use more jewels. Nice to see Queen Magrethe back and sad she did not stop to be photographed. I guess Queen Magrethe is still in her feelings about abdicating. Queen Mary looks stunning in her green velvet dress, but I am not a big fam of the lace top and the fact she wore this dress just a while ago in her official portrait. All the 3 princes look regal as expected. I hope Prince Christian marries a beautiful wealthy royal princess of great royal lineage who can bring some well-deserved royal jewels to this boring Danish royal jewelry collection.
