The Young Rascals ( and later as The Rascals) were my favorite group when O was in college in the late 60’s. I liked their sound and the lyrics of their songs. I think their songs have stood up well over the decades.

Two classic tracks! ON THE JOHNNY RIVERS RECORD, the same musicians that played on "Poor Side Of Town"

Check out their album “Once Upon A Dream”. The song “My Hawaii” shows the depth of their talent. This was not just another bubble-gum group of that era.

Loved your observation about the poetic aspect of this song. Love the Young Rascals. Lots of great songs such as Groovin'. I was 13/14 when listening to vinyls at a friends home. They are quite a talented band who where very popular and still get covered. Remember, these were teenagers or early 20's writing these lyrics. Cheers

We tried to get them for our high school junior-senior prom, but alas they were booked for that date.

They started as The Young Rascals then shortened the name. Check out “Midnight Hour”.

from the late 60's to the 70's where there highlights and it was nice song to listen too and for me the music is what i like, something it all in the music and not the words.

Arthur M. Tellez Totally agree. This era of music is more about relationships, love, hopes and dreams and it is more simple and innocent in it’s lyrics than today’s music. Understanding this, is the key to appreciating it for what it is.

Lonely Hearts Club Band is a Beatles song.

Most early pop music is all about the melodies and the emotions they bring out in us. Music like this is best listened to through the heart. The words are meaningful but the music paints the picture. Sgt. Peppers Hearts Club Band is the most famous album of The Beatles and often rated the best album in the history of Pop Music.

Nine months on, and the world still breathlessly awaits Savio's breakout album. Where he sings about everyday life, such as taking out the trash, and scrubbing down the family elephant. Haa!
