I love these "little" videos. I also love the clarity of how to describe all this concentration of information. Thanks a lot for sharing.😉👍
My pleasure, and more to come!
Brilliant, couldn't agree more that OPR is the way to go, flexible, subtle, realistic (and efficient). Thanks.
Cheers!
Thanks for sharing. Great info concisely presented. Keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!
Always better to do pinwash in sted of a all over wash, at least in my opinion
So here's an interesting idea I just thought about. Would you be willing to try replicating early desert camouflage aircraft turning pink with OPR?
That would depend on how much of the paint is shifting tones-- if it's a large portion of the camo area then adding some pink into the airbrushing stage is more efficient, and then refine with the OPR. But the short answer is yes, very possible to execute that scenario with the oils.
@rinaldistudio press appreciate the reply and the tip! And yes the aircraft I'm speaking of were P-40s that were originally painted completely tan but turned pink in the desert sun. Don't think I've ever seen them done properly before
Love your work. Do you hit it with a Matte clear before you start OPR?
No varnishes unless a decal to deal with, then it’ll be a matte spot varnish (check out the aircraft live streams, we talk about this a lot)
are you gloss coating first before using the oils?
No gloss is used
Do you just freeze your palette until you need it again?
Yes, it’ll keep for weeks, up to a month or so
