Enjoyed your video Randy. We will be visiting Page,Az in a few weeks and was looking for 1 more day trip of adventure. This might be it! Be Blessed! Keep up the good work and videos!
Awesome... hope this works out for you! Another thing we did was rent a boat on Lake Powell (near Page - Wahweap) and take it 50 miles to Rainbow Bridge. So incredible!
It's actually easy to explore Cottonwood Cove with just a low clearance 2wd vehicle. We did it in a 2wd Mazda 5 with just 5.5" of ground clearance. We've got plenty of backcountry experience, so we found the hike in over the ridge to be easily doable.
Awesome Randy, thanks for taking us along on the trip. I like how your guide said that this once was underwater; so naturally the first thing you think of if you're a Bible reader is the Great flood. It all must take your breath away, what Majesty it must be to see it. Happy trails, God bless you all in safety and health
Randy, yet another place in this country that's crazy spectacular in the colors dept. The Lord really has blessed this country with tons of other worldly scenery, hasn't He?
Great video! I got a permit for South Coyote Buttes on Superbowl Sunday, 2024 and went with a tour from Kanab, Utah. I could not get a permit for The Wave, but I was not disappointed. Jaw-dropping scenery! A day I will never forget. My 2wd vehicle would not have made it, and the tour guide knew where all the good stuff was. While in the area, I also did the White Pocket tour, another great place. Regards, Andy
Thanks for another great video. My wife and I are planning another trip to that area this fall but probably won't get to see this amazing place in person. Thanks for the tour of one of God's masterpieces. 👍🙏
It's nearly impossible to get permits to the wave- and this is definitely a wonderful way to see the sandstone and more. I'm not sure if think it was candy (lol) but very cool! And that plant- I'll stay away from it. Beautiful
Fingers crossed for next time - I really liked this video. They definitely have alot of stuff to see. There are interesting sand caves there also- it's a bit commercial, but really cool.
Hi Randy, I absolutely loved this excellent and beautiful video. Your videos are always of such a high quality. Your Tour guide was fun and very knowledgeable. I thrive on all the information, facts and details. The dinosaur was a cute idea... God Bless you, your friends and America's Parks... Robin 🙏🙏
The color in this area is outstanding! You really hit it right for wildflowers as well. I stayed at a neat lodge near Marble Canyon along the south part of the Vermillion Cliffs after doing Zion, Bryce, Grand Staircase/Escalante & a bit of Capitol in 2017. Your video does it justice! I'm gonna send you a pic of my latest painting. It's a bit different one for me. Thanks as always!
whoa that sinkhole is amazing! from there it just goes off the charts spectacular... so many unreal scenes thanks for going to all the effort of bringing the sites to us wow this is a great one
Guessing they go in from North End. House Rock can have awful washes. I like going in from south driving up and over Kaibab Plateau/Jacob Lake down to Vermillion Cliff/House Rock. It is 53 miles to Zion from Saint George. North Rim about 140 miles. AZ STRIP IS BIG but small compared to other districts. There are smaller formations like this over Lime Kiln pass out of Mesquite. Spectacular colors. And big here. Big is good. If you need a permit I don't go. Plenty of other areas in AZ STRIP. Go to Snow Canyon State Park for this type of terrain. Bam $9 and incredible.
I've been to the north coyote buttes with the infamous "The Wave" and need to visit soon again but the South Coyote Buttes I need to check out. Thanks!
Wow, that landscape is just amazing! Great timing on going during a 20-year super bloom!! A snake that kills rattlesnakes! That's crazy! I don't live super far from Kanab, so I should definitely do this tour! That mini wave was super impressive!! Awesome video, Randy, and thanks for sharing!
Wow....Just Wow. Loved this one Randy. This is going to be super fun following along on this one. Now im really itching to head off on my trip to Utah. For this, did you obtain permits ahead of time or in Kanab the day of hike?
Yes, this area is beautiful. We hired a guide in Kanab and did the same tour you did. You mentioned in the video that Coyote Butte South is west of Kanab, I think you meant east of Kanab--between Kanab and Page AZ. The same hike by the mini wave, we followed tracks of a large cat/Mountain Lion. Guide said the tracks show up a few times each month. Our permit was fairly easy to obtain since not even 20 were handed out for our day in Sept. We wanted permits to the Wave but didn't get it, so this was the 2nd choice and it was grand. Some people say better than the Wave because of more variety.
Southern Utah is an amazing recreational area, however I avoid that area like the plague in summer, too hot!!! When I was last in that area I hiked to Red Canyon Slot (Peekaboo Kanab) area. I slipped and slid through sand. Yea I gotta try the atv rental thing.
Absolutely beautiful as always. Im in Arizona and love the deserts with the hills in background. Some of the best sunsets ever. Have you ever come across any "too close for comfort" wild animals on your hikes, like mountian lions or bears?
Thanks so much! Really haven't seen many intimidating animals on my adventures... that is until I ran into three Grizzly Bears unexpectedly on a trail in Glacier. Plan to get that video up next.
Got the permit on my first attempt. Currently 0 for 4 on the North Buttes (Wave). "Captain America's Parks" - love it! Why didn't I think of that? lol!
It must be meant to be! Your video of White Pocket is what made me want to check it out and I went in February of 22. And I actually got my permit for Coyote Buttes South for 7/2. I can’t wait!
@@AmericasParks I really appreciate you, your family and your content. When I went to White Pocket I used Kanab Tour Company and my guide turned me onto a couple other places and experiences which has me coming back this time. Thank you!
Wow, looks like it’s going to be a fun day! Wow, now that IS a sink hole, lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that big. Wow, got to see all the desert flowers - not a common sight, that’s for sure. Hiking on that sand is hard work - more work than people think. Where there that many people going to this place that they needed to put in permits or why did they do that?
Ask if these guys drive out to Toroweap. NPS may not let side by sides in. Would be fun in them. Personally I like a Jeep with AC or 4x4 truck. 2 door jeep is king out here. Yeah I've had 4runner. Trucks. JEEP! 2 door manual trans!! I did it all in GMC 5.7 4X4 3 door Sierra. Fried trans. Work truck was 459 4x4 dually Ford Cummins diesel. Beast for for main roads. But pig. $$$$$$$$$$.
You need to apply for the permit through the BLM site - "south coyote buttes." We got it on our first attempt. As for the tour (tell them Randy from "America's Parks" sent you) here's what you need to know: kanabtourcompany.com/tour/south-coyote-buttes-atv-tour/
You know, I don't recall that being an option when we registered in the past. Perhaps you have an answer by now, but I would contact this outfitter with any questions. Highly recommend their services. kanabtourcompany.com
Wait - did you mean to say that this place is east of Kanab instead of west? Vermillion Cliffs is east of Kanab. Great video, by the way. I appreciate all these videos that you make and the work that goes into them.
That “mini” wave at the end is spectacular. Although it must be hard to get a permit, it’s refreshing to not see millions of people crowding the sites. New video idea: do the hike in the dino suit.

I have never heard of that place(the sink), great job MrRandy👍
Appreciate that, my friend!

I was just there last week .. I can't wait to go back.

Great, Andy! Glad to hear you were able to enjoy this special place! Still waiting on The Wave permit myself!

Totally agree! Could spend three weeks there and still find new stuff to see!

Beautiful scenery Randy. There is so much to see in Arizona and southern Utah.
Right on, Steve! Could spend months in the area and explore new sights each day!
Great tour guide! That would be really awesome to see those dinosaur footprints in the rock! Maybe we'll check out a desert national park next time!
Anything in southern Utah is highly recommended!!!
Ohh my goodness! That is absolutely breathtaking! I cannot imagine what it would be like to experience that.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
It was really a treat. As they say, the pictures don't even do it justice. Highlight of our trip!

Hey Eric! Totally worth it... use the same company we did and ask for Cash. Quality operation!
The Red Wave in Valley of Fire State Park is also supercool.

Not too long. Brief video and then some introductory comments. The outfitter I mentioned in the description was wonderful.

haha... wouldn't make it 10 feet with the "dino suit" without falling on my face!
