That said, Dorian still looked the bigger and the most shredded on stage and that was more than enough to win. Shawn was more aesthetic, better simmetry, more balanced, more pleasant to look at, BUT STILL not as big, conditioned and with the vainy and grainy look, that an injured Dorian, managed to bring on stage. So Shawn did not deserve to win . That was open division, not classic physique... 😅

Dorian is really on a different level on video compared to the photos we usually use to compare bodybuilders. I wish I could have seen him live to really judge all these shows that seem like robberies when we look at photos. You are right for many years I liked and hated Dorian every Olympia I wanted for the new champion but Dorian always won and very often photos in magazines were not the best for him and I had doubts in his victories but now having all videos and photos I understand why he won.
My Grandfather saw Yates at a British Grand Prix. I think 96. Nasser was in it. He said the competition was for 2nd place. Yates was untouchable. And it wasn't even close.

As subjective as this sport is the judging back then and even today and even going back to the Mentzer vs Schwarzenegger Olympia this show has only been a first place winner of the judges favorite not the best athlete that day. I’m a huge Haney fan and there was a year or two where he could have lost the title. This sport will never be right because it’s too subjective and like Toney Freeman always said what is the standard for each pose, posing time, etc. I love the sport of bodybuilding but I believe that my love lies greater in my training and what I actually have control over.

Nasser was robbed of his second place not Shawn. Just like in 1994 with Kevin, Shawn destroyed him in the posing round, same with Nasser in 1996 and I don't think it's fair.
