  • In an exclusive interview with a former BCG interviewer, Berkay, we provide a rare glimpse into the internal workings of consulting interviews, a topic with limited publicly available information, especially among top firms like BCG, McKinsey, and Bain. The conversation sheds light on how BCG trains their interviewers, providing insights into their evaluation criteria and what specifically they are looking for in candidates. Additionally, we delve into the distinctions between what makes a good candidate and what makes a bad candidate, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the BCG interviewing process.
Building on practical examples, the interview features real-life case studies to further illustrate the key points. These examples serve to demonstrate how BCG interviewers create their case studies. Furthermore, the former BCG interviewer shares valuable tips and tricks, allowing aspiring consultants to better understand how to approach and succeed in consulting interviews. This candid conversation offers a unique perspective on what it takes to excel in the highly competitive field of consulting.

Having experienced an interview with Berkay last year, I can definitely say his case was quite fun to do. The video clearly explains what is expected from a candidate, both behaviourally and knowledge-wise. Thanks for the great videos, Deniz; I hope I can land an offer in BCG this year :)

Small world! Is there anything you think you could have done differently in the case study?

Hi guys, can you make a video on what a consultant sees when he is first handed the B/S of a company. Like it could be in the per-view of IB and VC fund manager. What does the analysis look like and what new information does the executive need to seek? What all opportunity analysis do they do? Some ratios or financials they look at. Not only the B/S, but also inc statement and CF statement. Good content. Cheers.

Hello! For sure, I'll keep your comment in mind as we build our videocast pipeline. In fact, we'll have some videos in the future regarding how to build financial models, so hopefully, some of your questions will be answered there.
Having said that, in management consulting, 95% of the time, you'll deal with income statements. If you're interested in a career in consulting and have to go through case interviews, you're not required to know Balance Sheets (BS) or Cash Flows (CF) in detail. We have a Finance 101 video and three financial statement samples in our Get the Offer course to help you understand the fundamentals of reading financial documents.
