For this pattern you will need a main colour, contrast colour, colour for beak, and white and black crochet cotton or wool. Crochet hook and scissors. Thread to sew together, a sewing needle, and a darning needle to weave in ends.

Can you help explain how you do the ‘joined st’ as per in the ears please?

Here’s the ref:
Ears
Join for ear as in picture below.
Row 1: 2 ch, 1 htr in each of next 4 sts, 1 joined htr over same st as last htr and next st. Turn.

Hello Heather, I'm glad you like my patterns, for a joined htr, you put the yarn around the hook, hook into the 1st st (the same st as the last htr) and bring through a loop, yarn around the hook, hook into the next st and bring through a loop (you have 5 loops on the hook) then you put the yarn around the hook and take the hook through the 5 loops. I hope I've explained it well enough, if not please get back to me and I'll try to do better.

Yes it would be ok to use any size yarn. My owl is 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" or 11cm x 9cm.

Hello Valdenice, I'm glad that you like them and am sorry that you can't understand it. I've added subtitles in English and Portuguese as well. I don't speak Portuguese so had to use a computer translating program so I hope it is correct.
What size crochet hook?
I use a size or 2 finer hook than I’d normally use for the weight cotton for appliqués. For this appliqué I used 4 ply crochet cotton so would have used a 1.5mm hook. Hope this helps.
can you do with yarn
Hello Lucy. You can use yarn if you prefer, it would just be a bit bigger depending on the yarn you use.
What size crochet thread and hook are you using.?
Hello Margaret, I use 4 ply crochet cotton, which is fairly thin and a 1.25mm crochet
hook. It looks like 4 ply crochet cotton is equivalent to fingering
weight in the US and a 1.25mm crochet hook is probably a size 8 steel or
thread hook in the US. I hope this helps.

How do you stitch them together
Eve, I have arthritic hands so find it very difficult to sew them together at the angle I film. I hand stitch them together using sewing thread and a running stitch. I find using the crochet cotton too hard to pull through.

Hello Carl, I use a 1.25mm crochet hook. That is a no. 8 in US and a no. 3 in UK and Canada. Kerri

Bonjour, je suis désolé pour la qualité de la traduction. Je ne parle pas français, mais j'utilise un programme informatique pour traduire les sous-titres en français pour les gens. Parfois, la traduction peut ne pas être exacte. Ils peuvent également être désactivés.
