First visited Gorman cave in around 1976, long before the area was a park... just river fishing. Subsequently visited the area (and Gorman cave) in 1983, '84, '85 and '86. Visits to caves in the area were driven to by The dirt road (used to be a dirt road) by staying STRAIGHT o what used to be a gravel road out of Bend, east, towards the river. Then, miles of CRAZY dips and inclines south, along the river, towards Gorman falls. Don't recall how many miles, but this was the only access to caves in the area back when the area was being readied for park status. Lots of memories in Gorman cave and Bend, TX back in '76!!!
I loved the pit so much I went down three times, asked the cave guide... do I have time to do this again...verbally... go for it! You can't stand up, you have to bend over, height is at 4 feet or so, that's being in the pit! I remember three sections to navigate. Try to deal with the claustrophobia, such a small room once you get there, got to really stretch to get your foot holdings to climb out, really have no idea what would be done if someone couldn't. I want to do this again.
@@MrSTravelQuest one video I had to cut when I stepped on Jackie Boy's foot. No one would have thought that was funny. If something happened to me I would keep especially if it were funny😂😂😂
Oh my heavens. Nope! Not going in there! EVER! Your scream at the end was great. I would have screamed more than that. I do not like spiders. At all. Not really a fan of caves either lol.
That second cave crickets and daddy long legs kept falling on my head. I got used to it after a few mins. Thought I leave the realness at the end of the video 😂
@@MrSTravelQuest I can say for sure I would not get used to it. I would have been nothing more than a memory to those spiders. I would have been long gone. 🤣
@@HappyPlaceCamping the scariest part wasn’t even going in. It was when we turned off all the light. You one hole in the cave with light shinning in. All you see is daddy long legs blocking the light. I’m glad we did it and worth a visit.
I see the link you have to the Gorman Falls cave video is removed? I was on TH-cam searching for videos from that cave. I stumbled upon your video. you asked for comments... so here are a few. I've been in Gorman falls Cave before that property was a state park. in the 1970's and early 80's the land the cave is located on was known as Gorman falls fishing camp. My friend's family owned that Gorman Falls fishing camp back then. In 1980, as teens, a small group of us went unguided into the Gorman Falls cave. With head lamps and a paper map of the cave; That day, we almost lost a couple of friends in there. They fell into a hole in the cave named "the funnel". Yikes! More of this story to come on my channel. I appreciate your video. Well made, great narration! I enjoyed it! Tight Lines!
That’s amazing and I bet you have tons of cool stories. We love visiting the park every fall and summer. TH-cam links are in description, but might be removed with the TH-cam update. The cave tours are amazing! Colorado Bend has multiple caves, but only two can be done by tour.
@@MrSTravelQuest Thanks for that response. I am fairly new on TH-cam. But I do have a few stories. If you want, I'll share another story with you that I have recently posted on my TH-cam channel. A different subject, but the same time frame... 1970's. This story also happened at Gorman Falls Fishing Camp above the river area closer to what is now the vehicle parking area for the cave tours. Let me know what you think? I appreciate your response. this video validates a story that I've never told. Other than my friends that were there, this story is not known. It’s amazing and plan on doing this again soon. They have over 400 caves at the park and only do guided tours in 2 of them.

One of my favorite in the state. They also have over 400 caves in the park.
That is a great adventure. I need to do this. Thanks for the info.
Go for it! Looking to check out some more caves/caverns this year.
With the weather cooling down I'm looking forward to doing more hiking. Maybe some overnight backpacking.

That looks epic.
It’s pretty sweet! You and the family would love it.
Good video man!
Thank you 🙏
I would love to visit Colorado and check out this park and caves. Awesome video 👍
The caves are amazing! I can’t believe they have over 400 caves inside the park.
Yeah not for me hate spiders. 🕷
I've been to Natural Bridge Caverns.
It was more open & easier to walk through.
It wasn’t bad once you get past the entrance. It was definitely an experience.
New Sub here!
Thank you! Look forward in seeing you in the comments 😊
