Wow that's the best fake I've ever seen! That's super scary, I wonder how many folks have these in their safes and don't even know it. This is why you got to buy from reputable dealers and well known people only. Thanks for the great detailed video.
the ring is not 100% accurate but probably 99.9% accurate. I have seen Cracked Planchettes which have no ring but are real coins. The sigma pro is my favorite because it will test all the way through the coin and allow a density test as well 🔥🐉
From what I saw, the Sigma actually pegged it as fake as the pointer went off the scale to the right which is indicative of a counterfeit. The XRF though, that is really shocking. Almost as if the XRF is just reading the surface whereas we know the Sigma sends an electromagnetic signal penetrating the surface. I'm real happy with the Sigma. How did that counterfeit add up with weight, diameter and thickness? Excellent video, liked and subbed.
What my question is, is with the tungsten fakes can they not plate them or does is have to be encased, as I know some materials don't plate well? Maybe if it was copper they could plate it properly without putting a shell on? Maybe that's the big give away is that the tungsten ones that weigh the same will always have a gap on the edge as they can't be plated and get the same weight? Also I have seen the sigma be fooled if the outside shell is really thick and you don't get the nozzle attachment out and move it over the whole coin.
@@onlyme9262 One can plate tungsten. Electroless nickel strike plating on the tungsten followed by gold plating. But apparently this process is not that easy (or cheap) to do. The other thing is gold electroplating produces a maximum thickness of like 0.025mm. The thickness of the foil in this fake is about 0.14mm by my calculations. It could be plating with gold doesn't produce a thick enough coating and gets scratched too easily, which readily reveals the fake grey interior? With copper the color difference is harder to tell, but the dimensions of a copper-plated gold would be totally wrong
this counterfeit coin should be considerably thicker than a 22 K gold coin with so much copper and Gallium, it should be 20-30% thicker than 22 K gold. A 1 oz gold eagle should be ~2.9 mm thick, the fake should be over 3.5 mm thick, or perhaps the diameter is a bit bigger than the specified, 32.7 mm or some combination of diameter and thickness. I have seen some TH-camrs hang a coin on a piece of dental floss and weigh the coin in a container of water, this measures specific gravity. this technique overcomes the inaccuracy of a cheap scale. this test can be done quite cheaply.
Ring test is my favorite in a pinch test. That is also reason I only get coins or rounds. faking the sound and weight and dimensions of a coin would be near impossible. If they could, it would nearly cost as much as a real coin.
Well some beach.. I had a silver round that made a thud sound just like that. Found out it did have a hollow running threw the edge center of the round. After some heat and beat on a anvil. It opened up. 😂 .999 1 oz hollow silver.
I was scammed by these cpoins 4 yrs ago, i bought 3 pcs (3 Troy Ounce), tested them with my XRF and was absolutely sure it's the real deal. Buy looks and feeling it was also like a real for sure. i was completely shocked when realizing it was tuinsten inside. These are extremely well done. We obviously had the same coins because my were also 4.81 grams real gold wrapping. BTW tungsten is te only metal almost exactly same as gold density. The coibns I had didn't have any rim visible with 10x magnifictation
You guys use to have a solid reputation but lately I’ve seen more and more bad reviews on your turn around time. I had 2 experiences with you myself. One was amazing. One took 2 months. What’s happening Dave?
Ah the tungsten filled gold eagles I hate those bastards that scam people for 2 grand when the real metal content is either steel or tungsten 😑 they should be locked up in prison for doing that shit ugh 😑🤦♂️
And they can be if the effort is made to catch them...that $50 statement on the obverse means US counterfeiting laws apply. If the Secret Service would just come down hard on a few of these scammers this problem would go away for the most part.
Damn!! Scammers in China are almost better than the real deal. Super scary and not want to buy any gold at all these days. Buy and pay the little extra and purchase from a local coin dealer. Not worth the sellers and eBay headaches!!
With all due respect my man….A good cleaning of your fingernails would be appreciated. First thing my kid said to me is why does this guy not wash his hands. Told him you must be busy saving the world, no time for personal hygiene. Cmon man, a bath, shower, or just get your nails done. Show some self respect !!! WOW !!!
People who garden or work with cars may have nails like that. It doesn't mean they aren't taking a shower. All he needs to do before eating or cooking, is get under the nails with his nails when washing his hands.

I love the Harry's videos.
Yeah, I was unaware that "fakers" would actually use so much real gold in their fakes, it's kinda scary! Opened my eyes.
Thanks, my friend
Thanks for your tutorial on figuring those illegitimate coins. This is very informative
I love how you use a $20 gold piece as a hammer essentially. Love it man. Great work.
Great Video. This is why you need to buy from a trusted dealer.
Thank you for your honesty and service.
This fake underscores the reason why the US Mint needs to adopt better security features.

@ptaeiy no thats what a 22k eagle weights as they put 1 oz of 24k gold in a eagle

@@BoxStudioExecutive If they plate the tungsten core.. then the plating will be 24k, and have a different color than 22k gold.
@@chiil034 no, one can produce a gold alloy plating.
Would the fake pass the rare earth magnet test?
Wow David. Great video…thanks for sharing!
great video! thanks for sharing your learning with our industry
I'm a bit wiser than I was before watching these.
Thanks for the tricks David, love ping test, I don't collect coins so I'm new to this.
1st time I’ve seen one like that. Did you guys buy it or did you catch it beforehand? Thx David
What year were these start to circulate
This is the first thing I do is the ping test then I weight it then look super colse at it. Thx for sharing sir

Would the magnet test not have picked it up ,literally ? I use earth magnets
So where was this originally purchased ?

Since I bought my larger sigma Machine I test all my gold ! The machine will save you from the fakes and pain of losing over $2500.00 think about it .
Dude , the dead ringer, you are awesome.
Vince murry
Gold is diamagetic, Tungsten paramagnetic. You can hang it and test it with a strong neodym magnet.

What an amazing video. Thank you!
Thank you for your beautiful video
The only non destructive test is with Transmission X-rays spectroscopy analysis that the X rays goes thru the coin.
Will you send me the gold wrapper that it was in
The fact aside that it’s a counterfeit, the ‘Eagle Family’ of older modern US gold coins is *supposed* to have a cartoony look, it’s the style.
terrifying. lately been more and more afraid stuff I buy from my lcs could be fake. Im sure odds are fairly low but still worrisome.
That's very concerning indeed. That outer shell reminds of some fake silver Pandas we investigates years ago thay were constructed the same way.
I would never get a Panda of any metal
@@ryanhudson1252 curious, why?
Wow, thanks David.
It's hard to beat the sound test. Simple and cheapest.
always purchase from someone who's been in business a long time. I like Apmex. They are a good retailer and will stand behind their products.
Great educational video
excellent info! thank you
Thank GOD mines did the bell sound.
Thanks man 😮
none of my gold eagles make a ring 😢
Thank you!
Oh no chocolate 🥺 between the gold foil?
IMO this is the real crime.

Canadian maple 9999 coins can be genuine but have 0 ring.
The american gold ring becos they do have a small amt of silver in them
Great info!
Please use a pencil or plastic pen to conduct the ring test. Dont damage your coins by using metal or other coins
Wow nice ❤❤❤🙏
I've seen very well known dealers who have been scammed

Wow just wow
I bet if the fake gold coin was made with gold plating it would ring.
ANYTHING more than 0.5gm off from 31.1gm , never ever accept it.
In fact, do not even accept more than 0.3gm + or - from 31.1gm
That metal is probably toxic.
Diabolical
Oh damn I have some silver roos that thud like that.
100% silver doesn't ring like 90% sovereign struck coins.
I hear ya but my kangaroos don’t ping at all compared to my Maples
