They were great. I was there for the Oakland show. Crushed when the accident happened. But still groove to their amazing music to this day! I love seeing their music live on with the younger generation.
Loved them as a teen in the 70s, and still to this day absolutely groove to their music. I was there at the Oakland show before the accident. I was 40 ft from the stage. I will never forget looking up at these musicians with such awe. I was a total Skynyrd head and totally crushed. Every album of theirs is worth a listen. One More from The Road is a great live album to listen to, to give you a great idea of how awesome they were live. It was before their last album, but still a lot of fun. Enjoy.
Steve Gaines with the vocals and the guitar work was changing Skynyrd. He joined Skynyrd in May of 76. Sadly, he would be gone a year and a half later. Skynyrd forever. ✌️
Cliff - I don't think there's EVER any need to apologize, Hon - You're GETTIN' HERE, as SOON AS YOU COULD!!! ENJOYING your JOURNEY into some GREAT MUSIC, DUDE!!! HUGS from TEXAS! Just about CANNOT BEAT SKYNYRD, in MY BOOK!!! It's one of the TOPS for ME!!!
Whoa...this is a deep cut and I love it. Haven't heard this song in a long time except comin' outta my mouth while my failing voice cracks out both parts. 😊
LS was one of the best live performing bands ever. They took great pride in that. Steve Gaines the one playing guitar and singing with Ronnie, was the only one to do that. He was New to the band. Unfortunately one of the ones who died in the plane crash. Thanks for sharing the reaction. 😊
Original Skynyrd has such a large catalog of great music in such a short time! By far my favorite rock band of all time! All of their music had the same commitment, maybe a different sound, but the same commitment. All great!
Im grateful I grew up on Lynard Skynard. My dad never didn't take a chance to tell me he saw their last concert in South Carolina before that fatal plane ride. I envy that
The part that always gets me about this song in this performance, is when Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines sang the line "When my time's up, I'll hold my own You won't find me in an old folks home", only to know they both died in the plane wreck 3 months later. So sad!
SWEET STUFF, RIGHT HERE!!! What more could you ask for? SWEET GUITAR....GREAT VOCALS....POWELL'S RINGIN' KEYS!! SO, SO GREAT!! Nothin' here NOT TO LOVE!!! Thankful that we got to experience these guys as LONG as we were ABLE TO!!! RIP to all who perished....would've LOVED to have seen "where they went" in their careers...just a d*mned SHAME!!
LYNYRD SKYNYRD wrote and played music for the people!!! I saw LS in 1976 and as Rossington Collins Band in 1980!!! BEST TWO SHOWS FOR ME!!🐐🎸🔥😍😁😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 RIP LS!
Im from Jacksonville FL, there home town. I listened to them in the late 70s and Molly Hatchet practiced on the road behind me, used to sit in the back yard and listen to them practice. Give Molly Hatchet a try, "Flirten with Disaster"
Allman Brothers were a big inspiration for LS . Check them out, Excellent southern rock , heavy on the blues. Soulful vocals of Greg Allman plus outstanding guitar from DuWayne Allman, Dickey etc
They were headed in such a positive direction, adding Steve to the band, getting over their demons, then the darned plane crash took both Ronnie and Steve. I saw them in 1987 on the Tribute Tour. It was great but still was not quite the same as having Ronnie and Steve. On the tribute tour Johnny Van Zant, Ronnies brother did a duet with guitarist Randall Hall for this one. Randall had replaced Allen Collins who had been paralyzed in a car wreck. Ed King came back and took his spot in Steve's place on the Tribute Tour.
Skynyrd. The band who curb stomped the Rolling Stones at Knebworth & stole, The Tongue! Skynyrd caused the crowd to go so crazy that the Stones wouldn't come on stage until the whole crowd had calmed down! GODS bowed before Skynyrd
Bands of this era, were the beginning of today's popular music, it was people bringing their own sound. That why almost every thing is called rock no matter the sound
The guitarist singing, Steve Gaines wrote this song prior to joining LS. He, his sister, Cassie, a backup singer and the lead singer died a couple of months later in a plane crash.
You are this old ladies new go to guy for classic revival. Check out Janis Joplin's live performance of "Ball and Chain", Styx, either "I'm Sailing Away" or even better "Renegade". Try the "Average White Band". Yep that's their name. So many rabbit holes to dive into when it comes to great music. "Beastie Boys" if you haven't already heard them. Thanks for giving me a place to listen and watch you learn. Love your approach to music.
Ha, I was 21 that year! I can't believe that I was that old when the crash happened, it seems like it was my teenage years. Love Skynyrd! Ronnie Van Zant expended the least amount of energy of any front man 😂
Thank you son I needed this, trippin' down memory lane with you! I would love to see you react to "War Pigs" 1970 released by Black Sabbath live would be awesome. Blows my mind still relevant in this day and age. You did watch another band perform the song a year ago, I still prefer the original and would like get your opinion, thanks!
Why can't they play and produce music like they used to? It is possible, right? Is there just not a will to do it? I still believe it can be done. I pray the listening public will demand more of the music industry. A girl can dream. Even this 58 year old girl can dream.
I don't think there is a band today could do what they did with limited electronic helpers Their talent is next to none, Except I feel David Gilmour new album and his concert tour is just about as great as them. Except David is 78
That show was 3 months prior to the crash. This was the only duet they performed. Steve Gaines was the other singer- he was also killed in the crash
They were great. I was there for the Oakland show. Crushed when the accident happened. But still groove to their amazing music to this day! I love seeing their music live on with the younger generation.
@@janicez2630 I would’ve loved to have been at that concert! What an amazing memory

Please know this comes from a place of TOTAL jealousy within me.
I hate you so much for getting to see the Gods live.
Marshall Tucker Band "Can't You See" Live 1973 , please.
Skynyrd forever, forever Skynyrd, if you know, you know!
You got that right
@notablindliberal896 you Sure got that right.
Thank you for recognizing true greatness!
People don’t realize how many really talented people play in bars and at events, how much talent these singers and musicians are
Steve Gaines with the vocals and the guitar work was changing Skynyrd. He joined Skynyrd in May of 76. Sadly, he would be gone a year and a half later. Skynyrd forever. ✌️
They were absolutely fantastic live… april 77. Best show I’ve ever seen.

No Questions ❤

50-60-70’s real artists, real talent. ❤️❤️🔥🔥👵🏼 Gmaw
Bands still exist. You just have to get out and go see them. Thats where the real music lives. There’s some real talented people in this country

They were so good that god had to call them home ....damn they are missed...
I love watching all you youngins!! Grew up in the 70s! Rock on!!
Love it! Thanks for the great reaction! ☮️💙😎

I’ve often wondered how many bands today would survive if you take away all the studio add-ons .
They broke the mold with Skynyrd. They were the best at their craft.
Im grateful I grew up on Lynard Skynard. My dad never didn't take a chance to tell me he saw their last concert in South Carolina before that fatal plane ride. I envy that
Billy Powell absolutely killed the piano on this one!!!
The part that always gets me about this song in this performance, is when Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines sang the line "When my time's up, I'll hold my own

Classic fans , ROCK THE HOLIDAYS ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 Gmaw wishing you and loved ones Health and happiness for new year . 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Glad to see your name in my YT notifications, Cliff
Thank you kindly for another Lynyrd Skynyrd reaction.

They were just a super great R&R band. They were the Real deal!!!!
So tight
Mijo I’m to old for most of the music you feature, but my son in law who’s 61 loves them. Thank you Lynyrd Skynyrd👏👏👏👵🏼
Didn't click off early LOL. Message received!
T for Texas T for Tennessee >who else could take a country song written in 1926 and turn it into a jam session 🤘✌️❤️

Loved this! First time seeing this video. Thank you for the deep dive!! :)
Great reaction!❤️🤘🏻

I was.at.this show in Asbury Park they were on fire on a hot summer night in New jersey a few months later it would be all over
I may be old, but I got to see great music! You should also check out the Rossington Collins Band. RIP to all the band members
The guitarist singing, Steve Gaines wrote this song prior to joining LS. He, his sister, Cassie, a backup singer and the lead singer died a couple of months later in a plane crash.
It was the only album Steve Gains was on ( other that the live album) he had a hell of a voice
What a comeback song for you- a real two-fer surprise, made my day! Really! Welcome back!
🔥

Steve Gaines was a monster talent. What a shame he was taken so soon. We were robbed.
Please do "That Smell" and "Gimme Three Steps" if you haven't

Is there another band with lead singer, drummer, piano, bass, 2-3 guitarists, and backup singers?
They had 3 guitarist that would have been a solo star in any other band.
There will never be anymore “new” rock. Today’s crap is so bad, all of it is bad.
Watch T for Texas from this same show ..
Rossington Collins Band
Don't Misunderstand Me
Three Times As Bad
One Good Man
I don't think there is a band today could do what they did with limited electronic helpers Their talent is next to none, Except I feel David Gilmour new album and his concert tour is just about as great as them. Except David is 78
Funny that you assumed that your equipment is superior to theirs, when you weren’t even alive yet.
✌🏼🤔🎤
Not that you would care i would not care but you are okay. Enjoy your channel did not at first. PEACE YOUNG MAN.
