Please, please stop apologizing for pausing to share your thoughts. That's what we're watching your reactions for. We go to PTX's channel to watch the videos straight through.
Yes, definitely recorded at home. They had zoom-conferences in advance to get their ideas in sync but recording was done at home, separately and no these are all covers - their latest (recorded and filmed a year ago) is an original - Happy now - funny you think of Pentatonix as coming from the harmonies .... they started their career by being known for their powerhouse arrangements, upbeat, funky, electronic sounding ... but yes, they have always had this ability to go back to their choir roots and deliver perfect harmonies - THX for your reaction!
I hear a song by PTX and I get obsessed. Blinding Lights was one of those for me. When the Party is Over, is just sad to me. But I do wish we heard Matt singing more often. He has a wonderful voice. While he does a great supportive role in being the bass, I wish he had a bigger singing role. It seems like he could sing on Broadway or he, and Kirstin both in Disney movies. I did love their "mini-wall" in the second song. Their one voice harmonies were just perfect.
“Blinding Lights” is a cover of song by THE WEEKND. “When the Party’s Over” is a cover of a song by Billie Eilish. If you want to see/hear/react to an ORIGINAL by PTX, check out “Happy Now”-which they released last week. It was filmed before the pandemic, and is Matt’s first original with the group. Pay close attention to Mitch in that video-the symbolism is stunning.
They definitely recorded these two covers at their own home. There was just an original just dropped this past week or so, called Happy Now. I think you would enjoy that one.
Can you believe they that all production on their own. Really not bad they are doing an awesome job with limited options. They never fail to put me in a good mood😁😁😁
I say this every time but the editor had to put 5 totally separate recordings together of people that harmonized without hearing each other sing. Then he had to put 5 different videos shot from 5 different houses and make them sound and look excellent. Also Kirstin said that they had to listen back to themselves until they got the take they wanted, but they all said it was a good learning experience.
Candice Lambert is their usual stylist for videos, concert tours, and promotional appearances, but they could have relied on what they have in their closets for these “Home” EP videos. As for the complete breaks, or rests, in their songs, that was a trademark from their origins on the tv show The Sing-Off. On one of those performances, they actually do something I had never heard before-a syncopated rest!
Wonderful, thank you so much! I just love seeing your genuine smile and enjoyment of the music and video you’re watching. This EP is all covers (Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and when the party’s over by Billie Eilish) but they just put out the first single from their upcoming album of originals. The song is called “Happy Now” and sooo beautiful. It was written by a bunch of people including Scott, Kevin and Kirsty.
I'm glad I'm not the only 1 that noticed the shine on Mitch. And as particular as he is about his look, I'm surprised no one said anything to him about it (but obviously that tiny detail did not detract from their vocals). Matt - massaging your inner ear = eargasm, we all get them, lol..and a suggestion for your dilemma of wanting to get the album or wait and react...do more reaction videos (hehehe), I promise we won't mind!
Hello Lukas. Another video of ear candy. They do such justice to those great songs. They pick their covers well and arrange them beautifully. I enjoy the 5 parts harmonies when Kevin is not beatboxing and I love the energy he provides when he does beatbox. Hard to sit still. I’m glad you enjoy them as well. 🤗
Others has already written, that those are covers. You could look up their song "happy now". It's an interesting song and there is definitely a lot of interesting things going on film-wise. As to upbeat songs. Their covers of "sing" and "come along" allways puts me in a good mood. The first is just so happy, and the Second is really colorfull. Check Them out on a rainy day 😄
Happy Now is their new original. It is super upbeat. Sing! Come Along, No, Problem, Aha, Can’t Hold Is, are all very upbeat. Loving your observations and reactions. I saw your first reaction to them. It has been fun to watch you fall in love with their music.
Here are my favorites : Daft Punk Medley Bohemian Rhapsody Aha ! live Singapore Can you feel the love tonight? Sound of Silence Havana Dreams Mary did you know? (Christmas) Hallelujah (Christmas) Carol of the bells (Christmas) TYTY ..;;..
You should check out their cover of “can’t hold us”. It’s great. Upbeat and fun. It’s older. They were babies in that one. :) great reaction. I really enjoy your perspective
Always love your reactions. Your director's eye give us an extra insight. There is a song on the album called Happy Now, and I believe I read that it is Matt's first original. It's really good.
I wish there was a way their music could be played on the radio? Especially their new cover "Happy Now" it's really great upbeat Bop song! They really do deserve the recognition and respect of the music industry!? They are just amazing and really deserve to have their work heard more than just on TH-cam!
All the reactionaries first reacted to Diana Ankudinova were shocked. They got what they didn't expect. Diana has no ordinary voice and approach to execution. Please!))) Make a reaction to it)))
Let me recommend covers: "Derniere Danse", "It's Man's Man's man's World", "Rechenka" (Rechenka, River), "Tomorrow Is a Live" (Diana is 14 years old here); "Wicked Game", "Human", "Blizzard" (Blizzard) (Diana is 15 years old here). All the songs were performed on the project "You are Super!" - 2 and 3 seasons (Russia, NTV channel) and gained millions of views on TH-cam! I suppose that after listening to any of them, you will certainly want to familiarize yourself with others!
I have LOVED Pentatonix since they were on the Music Show the SING OFF! I especially LOVE Mitch!! But at times it was hard to focus on PTX since your are so Handsome. Your are Eye Candy for this old woman!!

Hi Lukas..Recently tuned to your reaction show...Very authentic stuff your giving, thank you. I love the Pentatonix as well, incredible. Also, may I suggest also "Voiceplay" And more on "Home Free' I would love to hear your take on them,please..Keep staying real and entertaining.Love your show.
Your reaction videos are priceless. I love that you “chair dance” with Pentatonix videos! Only makes me want to war h more of your reactions. The “Monster” video reaction [James Blunt] was so genuine, sealed my opinion that you are sincere throughout your reaction videos. Thank you❣️
I would love to see you react to their journey on the Sing Off. You can see them grow so much with each performance. My favorite was Dog Days are Over.
They did some vertual interviews where they said they had to record separately from home and how it was a real learning experience for them having to set everything up on their own. Thankfully they do use sheet music so it makes it easier for them to blend/harmonize as a group.
Lukas, your reactions are by far the best on TH-cam. I love how PTX reaches you emotionally and I even enjoy your interruptions which always add to, instead of subtract from, the video. I think there are two videos that you will really enjoy listening to: Pentatonix "Mary did you know", and "Everyone" by So Hyang. It doesn't get any more emotional than these two offerings.
Great reactions as usual. I appreciate the juxtaposition of these two in the same video. Very different songs with very different moods and your comments capture that well. I am reminded that this seems to be how life really is. Some fun and happy light days and other dark and difficult ones. We need both to appreciate the beauty of life and be reminded of our place in this universe. Sheer beauty in both tracks. Thanks for the reminder.
Please do a lookback at Pentatonics on the Sing Off, especially their 'Dog Days are Over.' I would like your reaction to these five very young, talented people and for you to see where Pentatonix came from.
These are both covers. 'Blinding Lights' original artist is The Weeknd & 'When the Party's Over' original artist is Billie Eilish. Both songs & rest of vids from the Home EP were shot from their home w/iphones & vocals recorded in their home studios.
Great reaction! we already knew you would love them both! You could do another combo of Break My Heart (upbeat) and Dreams (choral). Two more beautifully done in quarantine. My favorite original of theirs is Sing but the new Happy Now is giving it a run for its money! SO GOOD!
Lukas, I'm embarrassed that I spelled your name wrong, sorry about that. Another original that will make you smile is their song, "Sing." Can't wait to see your next Pentatonix reaction. Thank you!
Lukas so happy you did two reactions we have missed you, if you get a chance you should try AHA star vista Singapore they are live and it’s awesome think you will really like it, great start to the weekend watching you react, hope everyone is safe and well with best wishes from bonnie Scotland
@@lukashasselNY Me too...I had never heard either song before PTX. I absolutely LOVE their cover of Blinding Lights. They released 5 videos each week in July from their EP which were all recorded separately at their homes. Their original album had a video which was recorded pre-pandemic and released about two weeks ago. Love your reactions.
You might have already been told about these but I think you would enjoy Happy now there original song that just released: th-cam.com/video/446fgjNuhTQ/w-d-xo.html And to really see Mitch put on a show the Aha live in Singapore: th-cam.com/video/aT2Nm4fYmI4/w-d-xo.html
Okay, I just figured out why little kids love watching those stupid videos of other kids opening presents. Watching people feel emotions that we've felt before, and can feel *again* while watching someone *else* experience it for the first time is like some kind of emotional dopamine hit. Seeing you feel things while watching that second song was just moving, and I think it's so moving because there is a real feeling of empathy and connection watching feelings happen that we understand, and have felt, and still feel. It's just really lovely. For an adult, watching you experience these songs for the first time is like a kid watching another kid open a box of Legos. It truly is a gift, and in a world so lacking in empathy and depth of emotions these days, I think a lot of us just crave it. (Still, my favorite part of this whole video is your sassy eyebrow quirk at Scott 2 minutes in, because I do the very same thing. LOL!)
Their history with this video format has really paid off during this pandemic...They are used to it and almost no learning curve, like most other music groups. PLUS....big hats off to their video editor. I agree with other comments...."Happy Now", an original will blow you away
If you want to hear more of their upbeat or fast paced songs, I'd recommend Sing and Come Along. I'm sure those have been recommended already haha also, You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch. I know it's not Christmas, but it's a really fun and cool rendition. God Rest Ye Marry Gentlemen, and Making Christmas, from Nightmare Before Christmas.
By the time I got here everything that had to be said about these songs/videos and your reaction has been said in the other comments very well so I'll just echo their enthusiasm for both. I always enjoy your reactions. You have your own flavour.
I had to create a channel just to say thank you so much, Lucas! Your smile makes me happier. It's so nice to feel that my favorite music evokes the same emotions in such incredible people as you! And you are more delicate than anyone in choosing the moments to pause (in reactions to Dimash, for example), thank you very much for this! I'm sorry if I made mistakes, I'm not an English speaker.
Wonderful songs...PTX !!! Thanks for reacting. I love Blinding Lights! So Upbeat. Their new song out Happy Now is so Upbeat. So appropriate for hopefully ending the pandemic.
Good to see you back (..PTX)! These are are covers Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, and When the Party is Over is by Billie Eilish ..as usual, very respectful of the originals. They are recording / videoing from their own home studios, then fine-tuned by their arranger/producer. Many of their covers and originals are fast pace... You should really enjoy one of their originals that is quite upbeat.. SING. Also, a new release.. HAPPY NOW (also an original).
Aahh you're back with ptx! Always such a nice reaction, you have a great way of putting how songs make you feel into words, it's really nice to watch! Mitch actually recorded this inside his closet, since his house was being painted cause he was about to move out. So maybe it makes sense that it was a bit warm there lol I just love how he hung some fur and a sheet there and voila, you got a background 😁
It's so nice seeing you back with PTX. Thank you. We missed you. I love watching your eyes light up and your genuine smile when PTX does something amazing. Good choice of songs. For something different, please react to "The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall ft. Pentatonix". Kirstie is the lead and plays all of the female roles. Link: th-cam.com/video/QkVeKb2igrg/w-d-xo.html. Those theater and choir kids were having a great time. Some of the songs you may know, some may be new to you.
Nice to see you Lukas ! One of our very favourite reactors - not just for PTX, but they are definitely my absolute fave !! (Mitch was using his new quarantine skin regime... his skin is flawless and without a makeup artist he may not have had what he needed to correct the sheen 😊) Everyone commented on Kevin's 'Shining' backdrop - he actually pointed out and showed his wallpaper in one of their ET interviews - a lot of people initially thought he was lying on the bathroom floor hahaha )
If you like upbeat you will like their new original “Happy Now”. It was filmed before quarantine set in so it’s nice to see them perform together even if Mitch still has his mullet.
If you want to see the evolution of Pentatonix (and their look), watch all the Sing Off vids in order. Boy, they were so young! (Weren't we all.) What is interesting is that that production values of the vids have gotten more elaborate as time goes by,, and the engineering of the sound gets more professional, but their core, that vocal core, was there from the beginning and still remains the same. The only group that comes close to being in their league is Home Free.
ough, love the x2! I want to suggest Dreams (new song) and their 'evolution of ariana grande' (older song) and I think you would love both of them since they really stand out but in a good way.
Thank you for this reactions/reviews! I really appreciate the way you react to the whole : the Music, the cinematography, lights, colors (would never have noticed the black/red outfits!). Probably has something to do with you being a movie director.... and yes, I did some research work about you, before suscribing ! looking forward to the next reaction !
So thankful to see back to PTX. They have over 200 songs so you could do one a week for a while and you would run out of things to do. I know you probably won't do another video for a while but I wish you would do their brand new song Happy Now. It's an original written by them!! It's perfect for the times we are in now. The producer of the video that was filmed in September of 2019 let us ask questions and I kept the screenshot of the treatment he sent to Mitch and Scott.
Lexy Mish, If he wants to have a happy song and a mellow song, I think that pairing new original, "Happy Now", with old original, "Run To You", would be perfect. What do you think?
@@lexymish990 Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see your "Dreams" suggestion. That would be incredible. The harmonies are amazing in that song. You always have the best ideas.
Their original Sing is awesome also Can't sleep love is a great original. Try them. If you really want to see the depth of Kevin's genius check his cover of Down.
❤️First song - I love how you notice all the details from their vocal nuances to the sets, backdrops and wardrobe lol -and by the way, love your green, patchwork, puzzle kind of wall, very calming. ❤️
Also please please please don't cringe and apologize for pausing. For this EP and their brand new original song "Happy Now" reactors that don't pause at least 4 to 5 times are getting their videos blocked and taken down. And pausing within the first 30 seconds I think helps a lot also.
Just subscribed. I really enjoy you comments and it's so much fun to see you discovering Pentatonix. I love their harmonies, creativity and they way support and promote your be another.
Just checking in to say "hi," Lukas, and that I loved your reaction to both songs, as usual. I personally loved PTX's version of "When the Party Is Over" the best. So hauntingly beautiful. I can listen to it over and over for days. *sigh*
Both of these songs are really great as most of them have been. I would like to see your reaction to 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' and also 'Aha! Singapore Star Vista' A fan recorded this on his/her cellphone one of their concerts.
Good Morning Lukas 😄🌞 !! It's so nice to see your smiling face and sharing Pentatonix with you. This is my first time hearing this also. I'm having breakfast with you as I write this. Your comments are so inciteful. In case you didn't read my comment on the Pentatonix Hallelujah post, I would love to accompany you to your first Pentatonix concert !! 😉 Thank you for a wonderful start to my day. I've gotta go powder now. I'm a bit shiny. 😂 Have a joyful day. 😊
Two terrific, on-point reactions! Thank you! I really enjoy your giving us your take on these videos. Also, I have been a Pentaholic for quite some time now. One thing that has been making an ever deeper impression on me is how really good at acting Mitch and Scott are (not to diminish those abilities in other Pentatonix members). I see this especially in some of the Superfruit videos. Personally, I think Mitch is phenomenal. I know you have reacted to Superfruit's "Guy.exe" video. Please react to Superfruit's "Deny U" to get a wonderful example of Mitch and Scott doing some pretty awesome acting! (I know you are a wonderful actor, writer and director - hint, hint, hint.....)
Yeah, after ending on that somber (beautiful) note I have to immediately go watch Happy Now. 😂😍 Like the other comments, I highly recommend this latest PTX original for your next one!
They almost ever have color-coordinated outfits. At least one keycolor. And they have the same stylus from the beginning. At superfruit they wear their private clothing. Super stunning. Most extreme at "vacation". They (superfruit) spend too much money in the production of the first Videos, so they had to get really creative in the last ones.
❤️ Second song - I hadn’t heard that one before. Wow! Just angelic. It really created a welling up of some kind of emotional...something, I don’t know, it was just...really deep and deeply felt. Thanks for that ❤️
Hello Lukas! I loved the choice of songs, especially the first one! Love this Weeknd song! I am waiting for the reaction to Dimash, Samaltau-Tokio Jazz Festival, or as an actor I think you appreciate Across Endless Dimensions from the Syfy movie Creators-The Past, and It's in english. Greetings from Portugal 🙏💕
Hi Lukas! Loved your reaction as always😀 I know it is summer but highly recommend their Xmas music especially O Come all ye faithful and live version of silent night. Also check out Home Free - I think you would really enjoy them
Hi, these are both covers, and both recorded from home. I love how you have put two contrasting videos together. Hope you do it again. There latest song which is there first original recording, (and the first with Matt) was released just this past week. It’s really upbeat, but the lyrics are asking after a breakup, can I be “Happy Now”. The video is so different to any I’ve seen before, and of course it’s BRILLIANT, I hope you get to show your reaction soon. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The @Home Ep is all covers. The first you did is a cover of a song by the Weeknd and the second is by Billie Eilish. A suggestion for another great double reaction that would have a similar contrast in styles would be 'Can't Hold Us' (cover of a Mclemore song upbeat and rap) and 'Run To You' (original written by Kevin and Avi).
Another accapello group that during the pandemic, has been recording in a similar way, by framing each, apparently in their own homes. They even recorded one called "Quarantine ". Fun. Also, Flowers on the Wall.

You might have already been told about these but I think you would enjoy Happy now there original song that just released: th-cam.com/video/446fgjNuhTQ/w-d-xo.html
And to really see Mitch put on a show the Aha live in Singapore: th-cam.com/video/aT2Nm4fYmI4/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely fantastic. Both are covers.
Hi Lukas. Nice to see you back again... and with a double PTX reaction too! Nice review and comments as always.
Now do two more songs from that Break My Heart/Dreams Again a contrast in music and will bring emotions again!
So maybe it makes sense that it was a bit warm there lol
I just love how he hung some fur and a sheet there and voila, you got a background 😁
Lol
How does PTX do it? No matter what type of song they sing, they just pull you in to their world of harmony. They are amazing.
You're going to love Dreams Lukas - it's a Cranberries cover :)
Oh my gosh. Great reaction. ❤
If you like upbeat you will like their new original “Happy Now”. It was filmed before quarantine set in so it’s nice to see them perform together even if Mitch still has his mullet.
Thank you! Your reaction videos are well done.
@@vidsorama2 Yeah that sounds great. I was just saying dreams bc of the harmonies.
@@vidsorama2 The other reason I said dreams is bc he wants to buy the EP so if he does the dreams video then he can buy the EP.
@@lexymish990 Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see your "Dreams" suggestion. That would be incredible. The harmonies are amazing in that song. You always have the best ideas.
@@vidsorama2 That's really sweet. Thank you. I needed that today.
They do have an original that they put the video out for recently. But it was recorded before quarantine.
And they also did Dreams by the Cranberries
Their original Sing is awesome also Can't sleep love is a great original. Try them. If you really want to see the depth of Kevin's genius check his cover of Down.
❤️First song - I love how you notice all the details from their vocal nuances to the sets, backdrops and wardrobe lol -and by the way, love your green, patchwork, puzzle kind of wall, very calming. ❤️
They filmed all of the record at their individual homes on their phones & zoom. The background is their actual homes - living rooms.
You may like Wizard of Ahhs featuring Pentatonix
I just looked it up. "Blinding Lights" was released in 2019 by an artist who calls himself The Weeknd (missing e is okay) (aka Abel Makkonen Tesfaye).
Christy S LoL. Xo
you gotta do Happy now by ptx...feel great song!! Lordy!!! they create a wall of sound like no others...NO Other
Two terrific, on-point reactions!
:)
Both covers but they gave a new one out that they wrote called Happy Now and it's awesome
Please react to Adam Lambert's cover of Cher's Believe, performed at The Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. Hauntingly beautiful.
Thanks for that ❤️
I think the Home EP attempts to embody all of the emotions we have all felt during this pandemic.
Suggest Gold and Mad World. Also check out Kevin’s solo work...Down or Sign of the times
Their major studio built recording studios in each of their homes.
Hi Lukas! Loved your reaction as always😀 I know it is summer but highly recommend their Xmas music especially O Come all ye faithful and live version of silent night. Also check out Home Free - I think you would really enjoy them
Hey Lukas! Good to see you.
That first song...I can’t count how many times I forgot that they don’t use instruments.
Happy Now is their first original since their album "Pentatonix" which was released five years ago!
Jay Holland, excellent suggestions.
Another accapello group that during the pandemic, has been recording in a similar way, by framing each, apparently in their own homes. They even recorded one called "Quarantine ". Fun. Also, Flowers on the Wall.
I forgot the group's name. It's Home Free. A great group!
Can't Hold Us another fun upbeat song
Do you mean "Can't Hold Us"?
@@schuhschrank947 yes sorry
@@kathyryan2565 You could fix it by clicking on the three little dots on the right side of your comment! And then we could delete the comments underneath your comment!
You should check out their "Home Medley" which also was filmed during pandemic lock down, each separately at home. it is fabulous.
