    **Shudders** The Slaugth, never forget the first time I encountered them in a Dark Heresy scenario, well. Only I encountered them as I was the only one dumb enough to sprint up the top of the tower they were in while the rest of the party fought something which was merely a servant. They tried their darndest to shoot me but the -20 to their BS from my running made them miss. Needless to say, when I got to the top of their tower I pulled a Han Solo, screaming and running right back where I came from when I found there were five or so of them there, managed to pass my fear test somehow, though.

    Fafnir was cool in the short "Templar".
    When people make a big deal about how "brutal" a space marine chapter is, I want to see some justification for the rank. The Space Sharks are straight freaking brutal. What else are the Executioners going to do which is actually IN EXCESS of what the sharks are doing?
    After all, they are called the Executioners, not the Torturer-Sodomitic-Dark-Eldar Chapter.

    • @emzetkin1100
      @emzetkin1100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There seems to be a few things a chapter can do to be called brutal:
      1) eat people (The Sanguine Brotherhood is mostly guilty of this one)
      2) kill other loyal Astartes (Carcharadons, Minotaurs)
      3) base their tactics largely around rapid deployment and close quarters combat (Space Wolves, Black Templars, Blood Angels, etc).
      4) indiscriminately murder Imperial citizens (Marines Malevolent)

    • @ribbitgoesthedoglastnamehe4681
      @ribbitgoesthedoglastnamehe4681 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Not necessarily agreeing with your assessment.
      Some people are composed and unemotional because they have learned to intellectually control their own emotions and instabilities. Think of Vulcans ending their internal strife with pure logic, but some of them becoming Romulans and stabbety stabbing everyone.
      The Wolves, or even the Scars, they are violent, but very stable in what they are. They are honestly who they are. Dorn, or El Johnson are more complex, even more complex emotionally than Guilliman.
      Guilliman is also quite honestly himself, an overachiever and does what he likes to do. Dorn is conflicted person in many ways. And successor chapters who lose those things that keeps the darker moods away, are consumed by them.
      That brutality is already in the Fists, and in Dorn, but overshadowed, controlled by things like duty, honor, nobility. Lose on of those traits, or others, and its opposite will reign free.
      Wolves have no loyalty. They WANT to follow the Allfather. They dont need it.
      Ultramarines dont have nobility, they want to do the right thing.
      Dorns chapters have those things, mostly. They have all the things that keep them from doing bad things. Except some lose something.
      Wolves have no disloyalty in them. Dorn chapters do. They also have anger, and many other things that need to be controlled.
      Russ angers easily, and forgets even more easily. Same with the khan.
      Dorn never forgives, his anger is never forgotten. That is why those chapters are angry. Its already in them. It is just let to consume them.

      The irony is Khorne adores spacemarines even those who outright oppose him, Because Khorne does not care from whence the blood flows, It is known the Emperor pulled some sort of trick or made a form of deal with the dark gods to gain knowlage for his super human projects, So its very possible Khorne could of been the most eager to share some of this info knowing full well that super strong super violent warriors would happen, While Khorne is not one for tricks and being sneaky it is not that hard to imagine some chapters take to it more then others such as those founded from Great Crusade and Horus Heresy veterans that would have more hatred then other chapters, These would not be the first Angry boys of Dorn.

      Depends on whom they attempt first contact. Most Astartes chapters would shoot on sight, same with the Inquisition and the ecclesiarchy. Rogue Traders would only play along if it benefitted them. If they contacted the rare individual with common sense, (and they do exist) their could be a possibility for peaceful contact. As long as the Xenos didn't plan on sticking around.

      @@Commodore22345 I'm not really talking about a stereotypical "First Contact" scenario, like something out of Close Encounters. I'm talking about a scenario where two forces join up to deal with a greater threat. Example, a guard regiment with a commissar who knows how to lead, (Gaunt, Cain, etc) running into said race as they where being mulched by whatever. (Nids, Orks, Chaos). They realize through mutual situational awareness, that the only chance they HAVE, is to combine their forces and turn them on the greater threat.
      You can have some filler fluff inserted to explain who they are, and why they're HERE, but ultimately, at the end of the day, they walk away from the battlefield backwards, both expecting the other to shoot. All pertinent information about this "First Contact" would end up being buried in some Inquisition locker somewhere, and "Forgotten".

      @@MrTurbowhitey It happens. It also happens with known Xenos on bad terms. Necrons helping out Blood Angels against 'nids, for example. Or Trazyn at Cadia. The only such alliance not likely to get the human executed (unless the human is Astartes, a Rogue Trader or really high up) is with Asuryani, since there is a history of cooperation there, especially in the Age Indomitus. Cooperation with Tau is almost certain to get you executed.

    • @ratface7329
      @ratface7329 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I remember correctly from the ciaphas Cain novels, there's regimental bands and musicians active in the higher circles. The ciaphas cain novel made it come off as a 50's gangster movie scenario, so I'm guessing the music fits that period aswell. It mentions songs called "The night before you left" and "The love we share", which do sound like they could be out of a 50's club. Flutes, trumpets, drums, and snare instruments are a thing in 40K, but the amount of musicians seems low and seems to be a thing only the rich and noble can really afford.

    Necrons one of the oldest 40k races? No, THE OLDEST. They pre-date the Orks and the Eldar and are on par with the Old Ones. The Eldar were made to fight the Necrons during the War in the Heaven. Same with the Orks. So the Necrons in their current form pre-date even the Eldar as the Old One's Necrontyr War pre-dates the Necrontyr's conversion into the Machine Necrons and it was the war between the Old Ones and C'Tan that the Necrons were used first to fight. So.. Yeah. Necrons are certainly the singular oldest race in the Galaxy outside of the Old Ones that might be lurking in some dark corner.
