    I know @golfsidekick says to not pay attention to TH-cam swing mechanics videos, but you sir are the golfsidekick of swing mechanics. Applicable knowledge for the regular golfer, dispelling the bad advice.

      Golfsidekick makes a valid point for sure!! My advice - let the golf ball be your guide. It’s the best instructor in the world!

    Thank you so much Andrew - this is wonderful teaching - the correct synchronisation of arms, hands and body rotation. My senior golf swing was ruined by my ridiculous attempt to rotate my core like the javelin-throwing technique of Xander Schauffle. You have brought me back down to reality and the pleasure of golf has returned. The teaching of Mike Bender has a similar brilliance but your enthusiasm and determination are extraordinary. Robbie

    Coach, I am not a very good golfer. Yet to break 100. Therefore don’t play as much as I would like because I felt like it just isn’t my game- but so badly want to enjoy the golf experience. You have opened my mind as I always felt I wasn’t using my hips legs as much as I should. You have made me realize that I use my body too much to initiate both the back and down swing that I spin out. when I video my self I would have horrible double chicken wings at and after impact.
    I thought I needed to spin even faster to get my body out of the way :(
    I am slowly improving my swing by speeding up my arms while keeping my back towards the target longer.
    I always felt that I used my arms too much now know it felt that way because the club was stuck behind me I had to force a swing just to get the club head back to the ball!
    Have you ever considered showing a lesson of you helping someone that has a highly flawed swing like mine working with them and talking about their feels and how it may change as you coach them?
    Thank you again for helping recreational golfers like me understand how to swing a golf club.

    Went to the range 2 days ago,and tried your teachings,worked out fairly well,yesterday,i hit my longest drive,245,if it hadnt gone in the semi rough,it would have been farther,thats a ball speed of 140,my target is 150,club,103 club,getting there,not bad for a 66 year old,i just did a 3 quater swing,lose hands and hit it with effort ,happy days, walked of with a par,on a par 5.Thank you.

    Your content is by and far some of the best I have ever seen. Has been transformative for me. One thing that really helped was understanding how to release the club. As the trail wrist goes into radial deviation, the wrist also goes into extension. At the time of release as the trail wrist goes into ulnar deviation the wrist naturally squares up and goes into extension. I like to feel that I am dropping the club head behind the ball, no twisting or active rotation and the speed through impact has measurably increased. A bit techie but maybe you could explain this in a way that will resonate with your followers.

    Suffer from this. Played yesterday and concentrated on keeping my arms tension free. It sure seemed to help. A totally different feeling. Makes you realize how much tension is in your golf swing!

      Yes sir! Excessive tension in the fast twitch muscle fibers is a silent killer of golf swings, and the primary reason that 85% of golfers over use their bodies!

    Hi Andrew, here is where I get confused. You talk about the arms coming down which is fine, I am good with that. Now, when you say the right hand stays in extension till near impact, is the golfer supposed to be purposefully holding that wrist angle. Wouldn’t that go against the thought that lag is created naturally through good movement and sequencing and not holding any angles.?

    My point of GREAT confusion. Do the arms swing diagonally up/down in the vertical dimension or do they swing across the chest in the jorizonta dimension?Oris the horizontal component a result of the body pivot carrying the arms horizontally creating an illusion of the horizontal movement of the arms? Can you clarify please?

      The arms swing up and down in the vertical dimension. The horizontal movement comes from the body pivot, which carries the arms across the chest, creating the appearance of horizontal movement. Hope that helps!

    Thx for the video Andrew, great content. I think what I’m having difficulty understanding is in the downswing, if you don’t throw the clubhead from the top with your hands/wrists how do you have time to get it released? Is it anchoring the head and keeping the shoulders slightly closed that causes the wrists to release the club?

      Staying closed allows the arms to de-elevate and re-position DOWN in front of you! It’s dragging the arms and leaving them at the start line that requires an early release to play catch up!!

    Hi Andrew love your videos I've been trying a new feel it was an experiment, I kept my right wrist bent and it felt like I wanted to keep the club head behind me or to right and just dropped my hands i was surprised I hit the ball 😮 high loads spin and straight 😮

      Maintaining an extended trail wrist in the initial change of direction places the mass of the club more behind the hands (inside) on its approach to the ball! Great job!

    What about weight shift? As you bring your arms down, do you simultaneously shift the weight on to your left foot, or post up on the left leg? The best take away I got from this video was keeping the head back and steady

      If you keep your back to the target it’s hard to not glide into your lead leg!! Automatic in my experience for most!

      Its L back (lead arm parallel with club hinged up) and swinging to 8:00 through or just short of parallel! Miniature swings essentially is what you’re looking for keeping your head quiet and extending both arms ‘past’ the tape and through the ball!!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    What simulator are you using and how high are your ceilings? Do you like it? Any advice on a midrange model? I’m starting to shop around for one. Im 6’4” if you happen to know minimum ceiling height for me to make it work. Basically would mean if I have to cut open a piece of ceiling or not.

      I’m 6’3” - 9 ft minimum ceiling height. If you’re on a budget then SkyTrak (+) is great for under $3k and ideal for a ‘short throw system. Would recommend “Carl’s Place” online. Their customer support and product knowledge is awesome!

      Simply swing past the tape!! Arms forward! It’s a simple way to let you know if you’re releasing too early or not. Miss the tape and you’re moving your low point forward successfully! You can also use a golf towel! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    I do your left and right arm drills great, but with both hands on the club all smoothness dissappears.

      Similar to putting a towel behind the ball! Miss the tape and hit the ball first to improve low point control!

      It’s a little more nuanced than that. Lower body dynamics are important but both elite golfers and recreational golfers tend to get their lower body and upper body segments out in front of their arms!
      I believe that golfers should de-elevate and reposition their arms in the transition and in many respect allow their arms to FEEL like they’re recruiting the body!

    Don't agree with this. In your actual swing you use your legs
    with a significant weight shift to bring the club head and your arms down to the ball and create lag. Video your own swing and you will see what we all see. Thanks but no thanks.

      Tim, you’re absolutely correct! Recentering and a glide phase is critical but what I’m talking about isn’t black and white but more nuanced!
      Very few golfers understand the role of the arms! Elite golfers tend to drive their pelvis forward too early which tips the shoulders and gets the club stuck under the plane. Recreational golfers spin their upper body too early which throws the club over the plane! In both cases their arms get stuck behind them!
      I’m very familiar with the kinematic sequence. But I’m more interested in what needs to happen neurologically to tap into that sequence! Delaying the spin phase and allowing your arms to de-elevate and extend past the ball is a FEEL, don’t make the mistake of thinking your body won’t respond dynamically!!
