      Yes! Excellent suggestion! I was going to mention in the video (but completely forgot) that some time in the future I'll do a full-body version. First I need to do some studies and drawings before I feel comfortable explaining the anatomy.
      Glad you found the video useful, thank you for watching and commenting!

    Great video, and clearly explained. A couple of tips that I found useful to help with drawing horses are. 1. Sketch them from life. Don’t expect the results to be amazing, but you will find yourself intently studying the horse by observation. Sketch just parts of the horse. I always struggle with hooves, so I try and sketch them. 2. If you have access to a horse/pony run your hands over them and try to remember the contours etc. Both of these methods have helped me when drawing from a reference photo, especially if part of the reference is not clear.

    Love the way you draw the grid / graph . I love that method as it becomes very easy for me to draw . And the drawing turns out to be more accurate than the drawing without the grid. I love your sketch❤️

    I wouldn't say I am a beginner because I have been drawing ONLY horses almost my entire life, but I am definitely NOT as good at drawing to draw the horse on the right. Learning to get really good at drawing can take sooo many years.

    Another great educational video, Claudia! I like how you explain that you may not know the specific names for anatomy or accessories, however a viewer might know if something is off, so the artist can study the reference and way an animal moves to best create an accurate piece.

      A lot of people didn't watch through the announcement video... and a lot of people entered who interested in winning free stuff but not so interested in watching my videos.
      Repicking and reannouncing through a video a new winner is extra work for me (rather than just sending an e-mail out to the winners), but I want the prize to go to a subscriber who is interested and supportive. That's who the giveaway was aimed towards after all :)

      ;0) I think your idea was great, sincere, and thoughtful.
      The few online competitions I did of my coloring books went to random people who do not follow my work whatsoever. I am sure they had no idea who I was, nor did they care to leave a review.
      Caring about a community that cares about us is what counts. Good luck this time!

    Lovely tutorial.
    I had once drew horses, and they were horrible.. I had an artist to correct them for me. He told me horses drawing needs about 3 years of learning.. that included the anatomy studies. So, basically, I stopped thinking of horses and went on to something different.

    • @ClaudiaSketches
      @ClaudiaSketches  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much, Guru! I disagree with what the artist told you and I think it's an awful shame that those words discouraged you. All subject matter requires practice and good observational skills to sketch and render. Horses are no different- in my opinion they're not any more difficult. :)

    Nice job in comparing the 2 different styles and great suggestions on how to improve one's drawing of horses. I've been drawing them since I was a kid. By the way, why do you say a horse has fur? They have hair.

    • @ClaudiaSketches
      @ClaudiaSketches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I kind of mention in the video, I'm not really familiar with horsey terminology. Fur, hair- it's all the same to me :P

    • @debbieelholm7921
      @debbieelholm7921 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL Just know that there are some horse lovers that are going to be offended by the use of "fur." They are then going to think that you don't know what you are talking about. Which is kind of silly since you are talking about art, not the knowledge of horses.

    Curious. Can you draw without tracing or mesh?

    • @ClaudiaSketches
      @ClaudiaSketches  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure- there are no rules to art, create in whichever way you feel comfortable-! You don't need to employ these methods if you don't want to.
      I personally find that tracing or grid method speeds up the process of getting an accurate outline.

      @@ClaudiaSketches i know. I have also done some in my time. I was just curious of your skill level. If you have any of anatomy lessons drawn from live, for example?
      Could give me a better understanding of your organic skill level.

    What do you use to put the graph on the image?

    • @ClaudiaSketches
      @ClaudiaSketches  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Microsoft Photos to get a simple 3x3 grid on an image (there's a tutorial for this on this blog post: claudiasketches.wixsite.com/home/single-post/how-to-edit-references-to-make-them-easier-to-draw ). You can use the same technique on most simple photo editors.
      There are also lots of apps you can use (search "Artist Grid" or "Art Grid" on an app store). I don't know which to recommend though as I haven't personally used them.

      May I suggest starting with a simple subject, like an apple, and closely observe where the light and shadow falls. A horse is a bit ambitious if you're a novice, you want to build your confidence first 👋🙂

      You're probably hearing the effects of working from a script :P Unfortunately I can't talk concisely or detail without following a script- it turns out to be a jumbled mess that's 3x as long (and nobody wants that!).
