I just finished watching Crown’s 2013 finals show for the 500th time and ended in tears as per usual. Your video popped up next, and is quite possibly the best example of someone expressing the kind of emotion that only drum corps can bring. Only those of us who marched, in my case over 20 years ago, have felt and can empathize what you showed us.
I am the husband the below wife is talking about. I was right there with you, having marched Crown in 1993. Apparently the year after you, when we won Div II!! IT was my age out year, and had spent two years at Spirit of Atlanta. My age out year I knew I would not march Spirit again, and tried out at Star and Velvet Knights. Wade Page a tenor player at crown in 92 was at my college and convinced me to come up. I TRULY wanted them to win this year to be the 20th anniversary of our ring
That was the Pride of Broken Arrow High School Marching band reaction. Lol we got the slipstream at the school, and all brass players and some woodwind and all percussion watched it. This (including directors) was EVERYONE'S reaction! We love Carolina Crown here!!!
I’m a Broken arrow member from 2021 and 2022. Just wanna say, we appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into your years as a member. We are only able to do what we do now because of y’all
Too funny. On the field, on the inside, we react pretty much the same way you did. We were required to keep our cool, however. I appreciate your explanation vs just coming across as a front-runner hater. Thanks for posting. John Steaveson Santa Clara Vanguard '79, '81 The Concord Blue Devils '83-'85
You my man channeled Brass Cap Head Matt Harloff, LOL. Congrats, you were part of the start of something special and now you have joined an exclusive club of DCI Alum of a world champion drum corps.
You have every right to be as proud of Crown as the most loyal fans are. I actually tried out for the guard in 1993, the year they won the division II championship with "La Fiesta Mexicana". I ended up not being able to afford the experience so I didn't march; however, my love for Crown has grown EVERY year since. My college roommate marched Cadets and a fellow Sinfonian brother had also marched Cadets. I admire your love for sport hosted by DCI.
And just to think, for those who where in crown from the very beginning until this championship winnings. If it had not been for those members in the beginning when crown first started who would we be thankful for? Thank you all, from the past to the present crown members! I have been waiting for this! for a long time! Keep up the good work! and welcome the new members! LOVE! My CROWN!
Bravo to Crown. I marhed Glassmen in 93 and 94. An experience I will never forget. I'm happy your corps has done you proud! Also, you're completely allowed to act the fool and giddy and whatever else, I know I'd probably poop my pants in the same situation. Grats man, be proud!
This video is GOLD!!! 🥇I never marched in a corps, but I marched color guard in high school and was an instructor of a HS colorguard while in college. I know how it feels to put in the endless hours of practice in brutally hot and sunny weather. I was fortunate to miss sleeping on gym floors and taking cold showers. I have actively supported the drum corps activity since 2000 and I totally feel the thrill of victory and the burning agony of defeat every season. This guy captures what I feel too - especially when it's a Cinderella story corps breaking away and taking the win after many years of being in the limelight!! Well done Crown, always a joy to watch you win!! 👑
we missed each other by a year. and, my roommates at belmont abbey were the bass drummers, too. i marched soprano in 1993. small world. i had to read the blog, and i posted score by score on my facebook.
This is awesome. I about blew out my wife's eardrum when it was announced. It must be amazing to watch Crown rise and finally win the big one! Congrats!
I saw that performance, wow, I couldn't even concentrate on the Blue Devils after seeing the crown. Saw the movie in s. calif. The greatest performance i've ever seen and probably will see.The movie announcer was stunned himself, and he was always emotionally contained after all the other performances. Not to say that ALL the performances were nothing short of fantastic.
Don't worry, you weren't the only one that had that reaction...When I checked the scores on my phone it was 3 A.M. in the morning in a hotel room with my parents, and i almost jumped out of my bed. Needless to say, they weren't impressed.
Yay! On the 5th of December, in the year of our lord 2020, this comment was hearted. 2013 shall forever be remembered for god-tier brass, and really shitty fans, of which Jimmy Kennan was not one.
i have a video from the field at retreat when they announced BD's and Crowns scores and the crowd reaction was overwhelming! I had basically the same reaction this guy did haha
Without such dedicated fans, we would not be what we are today. Thank you. Check out karlpreisner.blogspot.com to read about my summer with Crown 2013. I posted pictures and stories every day.
Hilarious.... My Christ in Heaven.... with such fine quality alumni.. such as this genius.... and crapguy.... No wonder it took them another 20 years.. to finally get some quality in the organization.. that would ALMOST be deserving of a 1st Crown title.... lol. Ridiculous.... Giving God knows who.. the double bird.. for no explainable reason.... ??? Too funny....

This was exactly me on 2013, the same for 2014 with the bluecoats
Mello bluecoats didn’t win though
@@thesnareboi3256 I know, but I was still just as happy for them getting 2nd
Mello I see
Mello but major upsets in 2019
I wanted either one to win so I wasn’t that upset, but others though...

i went crazy just from the wink
He had me a that wink!!!
Update from me on a diff. Account. That very much was me in 2016😂😂
0:41....."maybe they'll take it next year" (Cadets)..........."or maybe not".....ha ha ha ha ha ha ha................funny reaction
I live in SC, and they were showing the finals in theatre. You can imagine the uproar in the theatre whenever they announced 1st place.
The uproar probably came after the second place score was announced. Just saying.

Bruh this comment is 9 years old lmfao.
This was me.....no lie.
When I found out Bluecoats made 2nd with T/LT, I was super happy. I cried like crazy.
Tilt was a phenomenal show. One of my favorites that year.
_T\LT_
Should've been first, ngl
Who the fuck would be happy
@@jakgff5885 They had been just behind the Cadets in 3rd place the whole season, and finally topped them in finals
This video renewed my faith in humanity.

Got chills watching this

Did you only march one season

I love this
I understand ya man. I heard the big news while I was in the bathroom so the loudest scream went all around my house. It was pretty fantastic.
A bunch of us moved down to right below the judges before awards. It was a huge chunk of us Crown Vets. The place went ballistics.
My husband was doing pretty much the same thing. He aged out 20 years ago. He was Happy Happy Happy. LOVE the reaction! :D
"ya... FUCK"

I wish I could have seen your face when you saw they got a prefect score in Best Brass!
This was me. But I was also live texting scores because my friend couldn't get the feed.
This was worth it just to read your comments. Thanks Jimmy!

That was me (but with the opposite emotion) when Carolina crown lost with inferno..
I totally agree they got robbed for that one.
I was one of the people who stood up cheering as they announced BD's placing.... because of what it meant for Crown's placing.
After he heard the score, he punched the air like hes in GTA
Beautiful story, mate! Cheers from a South African "Crown" fan! (I nearly shat my pants as well when they won! Haha!)
Same, brother.
LOL. Awesome passion.
I was also rooting for Carolina Crown but this might be a little too much...

Marcus Jones. Contrabass. I have helped out the corps every year since aging out.
the blue devils kicked crown's ass in 2014 tho. but Carolina crown deserved the win in 2013.
*This is 2013, tho. But Fellinesque was outstanding.*

Sir, you just made my night!!
This would've been me if I wasn't in the movie theater
Yep. This pretty much sums up my reaction. #purplepantsband #proudALUMNI
That was pretty close to my reaction as well, except I think there were more tears involved.
As ridiculous as this is, you know we were all probably doin the same thing
I marched with jimmy; 92 was my age out year. If you think that was crazy, you should have been on the field behind the corps in the staff block!
Ha! I marched guard in 92!
This was me. I marched in 2003. I actually thought I was going to vomit too.
And this is about to be me again if The Bluecoats stay undefeated and win again.
Im at maudlin high school right now. I played second bass in our show this year
I go to palmetto high school and I played tenors this past year, and your drumline was great.
go to wando
Evan Robinette I go to Rock Hill and we all wish that we could go to Wando.
I remember sitting in that stadium this year (:
This was my exact reaction.

I reacted the same. I would have been loud if my family wasn't sleeping.
Dont worry I was the same way during the results hahaha actually I was trembling and got all tear eyed when they announced 2nd place. hahahah
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This is AMAZING
Lol I personally know Matt Harloff is that makes you jealous :P
perfect. lol.

When blue devils still beat them after losing both semi finals and prelims

haha true!
If he was about to throw up, what must it be like to be in retreat?
