This video's theme is about the culture and music of Hip Hop vs Rap. What we hope you will identify is the enormous amounts of artists, flavors, aesthetics, crews, personalities, and competition that truly made the culture of real Hip Hop. Mainstream Rap, thanks to the corporate recording industry, has essentially stripped the pillars of Hip Hop away from what they call music. Hip Hop is for and from the streets as a true life form. Mainstream Rap is for and from controlled commercial marketing practices to sell products and brands.
We are simply demonstrating the greatness of the Old School and Golden Age of Hip Hop due to its tremendous growth and trailblazing thanks to style wars and battling by being "fresh" out the box every time. Thanks to Mainstream Rap, or Hip Pop, the current market only sells "clones."
They all sound alike, dress alike, speak alike, deliver alike, and pose alike. Same content. Same gimmicks and artificial flavors.
This is the real Attack of the Clones. We thank the real emcees and artists in the streets for delivering the real Hip Hop like People Under The Stairs, JabberWockeez, East 3, DJ Craze, and Charlie 2na.

There are many old school sites but take it from a head that came up poppin' tapes of DJ Red Alert, Mr Majik, Kurtis Blow, Run DMC, BPD, Jekyll & Hyde, MC Shan, etc. Old School Scholars is THE place for youngins to learn about the origins of the culture and for old heads to reminisce. A.Y.K.T.!

the part one mix was immense....part 2 equally took me back & the 'rest in power' segment showing the fallen heroes was such a fitting tribute.....scott la rock,dj jmj,biggie,2 pac etc....& the graf legends like iz the wiz & dondi white....always rememdered....can never be forgotton.... RIP

Now this was the way I recall it when it was all BRAND NEW, and old skewl was actually not having hip hop at all. I am 41 years old and grew up with all of this and grandmasterflash and others... MEGAmix = at least ten tracks in ten minutes or less. :) All about the LYRICS not the Crap that we have today to bore us to death with.

I remember being in Italy as a Militery brat and getting tapes back in like 82-83 from WBLS and KISS and we passed them around like they were gold this and the first one is what I fiend for even at 40 and over 50,000 records. This is nuts man good stuff here.

@Globalfaction You know we had to add anything from Ultra Magnetic! They are the prototype artists for sampling beats. They are the first kids on the block to do it with Superstition and even on Bait. They were the bomb squad before The Bomb Squad in production. The most underrated Hip Hop music groups and artists of all time. Yo Kings of Pressure was dope. Tales From The Darkside was like some pre-GraveDiggers funk!

Please forgive us for this video's tardiness. The Old School Scholar staff has each experience personal setbacks from being consistent with our content. Thanks to GrandSinister Ice we had another wonderful mix for the world to indulge. If you are an experienced DJ you would know how difficult it is to find tracks on wax with this tempo. It is not your usual 110, 120, or 98bpm mixes. Ice obviously exceeded our expectations. I hope he did for you all too!
