This video and mega mix is dedicated to all pioneers of Hip Hop Culture from the East Coast to the West Coast from 1967 - 1985. We thank you for everything you have created for us. We also thank you for showing the world that creativity, ingenuity, inspiration, practicality, and perseverance with limited resources can shock the world... quell racism...and eventually construct peace.
    Enjoy!
A Man Without History is a Tree Without Roots.

We just brought back the original recipe to how a megamix is suppose to sound like. This is an old school formula of layering, cutting, phasing, mixing, and edits. I hope we get to hear this formula again one day from the new jacks.

That is a good question. As soon as I get that outline from our DJ, I can get you that answer in detail. And yes, all tracks you hear ARE on original vinyl. Not even reprints btw. The best way to protect vinyl for many years is to keep them packed tight for zero stress; to inspect your needles; keep the vinyl clean from finger oil and other residues; and to balance and lock your turntable arms. You never want too much weight coming from a needle. Thanks for the props, Brotha!

I hope one day we will have a Hip Hop festival like the original WoodStock. Just peace and funk for a whole weekend. That way we can treat it like a family reunion because we are family.

Thank you, Brotha. Remember, it ain't just about the Old School, but it is what make the Old School and True School Hip Hop culture. It is about being transparent, being real, being about people, and about real life. It was always about making something out of nothing and getting out of bad situations, and not glorifying materialism. We make money-not money make us!

OG, we are STILL there with that vibe and flavor. Remember we got to pass that passion and culture down to the shorties. The graff writers got it! The Bboys got it! The DJs still burn it! But the emcees forgot. We got to save the MCs. We need more new cats like People Under The Stairs, Murs, and Chali2na. We need more Em, De La Soul, Mos Def, and KRS.

BTW the cadence you heard before the Jay Z and Epmd vocals was by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 called "Superrappin'". A live band was simulating the bassline of "Seven Minutes of Funk" which was due before Hip Hop music starting recording samples. "Superrappin'" can be found on Enjoy Records.

I am personally honored that it took you back in the day...and today we are back from that way!

The only thing you need to pay is time, patience, creativity, experimenting, passion, and fun. Then share it with the world that waits for you!

    KRS One said it best:
    "Rap is something you DO...
Hip Hop is something you Live."
Hip Hop culture was born from urban plight with the influence of other cultural forms of expression. Hip Hop music speaks for and from the culture.
Rap music is music based on the sake of rhyming. Yet, Rapping is an elemental aesthetic in Hip Hop music. Ultimately Hip Hop consists of Rap, but Rap does not consist of Hip Hop.

It is a voice of culture indeed. Remember Hip Hop is more than just music. It was created by all forms of ethnicity especially black people and hispanics. Poor whites of all backgrounds and religious groups, too. Pan-Africans, Asians South Americans, and Arabs are now taking it to broader level. No matter what your culture is, Hip Hop can interweave in it and reflect upon it when you make it your own. Peace to all my Czech Hip Hop Brothas!

fantastic, good history there, put tears in my eyes.braught me back to a better time in my life. i was there for it all from bgirling to block parties, i say get history from people that were there. hip hop is the constantly evolving spirit and consciousness of our urban youth but they are trying to dilute it. its time we stick together. big ups on this!

  • @OldSchoolScholar
    @OldSchoolScholar  15 ปีที่แล้ว

At 1:40 was Melle Mel from a performance on an underground vinyl called Live Convention 82. The layer mixed underneath is a piece from Watch Out Now by The Beatnuts (bitten by Jennifer Lopez when she did Jenny On The Block.) The piece being cut up is Heaven and Hell; a famous old school break often heard from DJs way way back. Sorry I took a few days to answer. I had a busy weekend. Peace!

Thank you for make this video a favorite! Here is the deal; authentic Hip Hop culture is not dead, and Old School Hip Hop is actually any style of Hip Hop that was mostly present prior a generation to anyone. For me the L Brothers and Disco King Mario are Old School to me where as Run DMC may be old school to someone born in 1991. So that answer is only based on your perception. It is only unpopular to people who are only trendy. Outside of the USA, Hip Hop culture is alive and well in respect.
