Sad to learn Donna passed in Oct. 6, 2018 at her home. It's comforting to know this rescue assisted her to maintain her independence and self esteem as long as possible. I am so grateful to George and the sponsors. God Bless you all.
@@prady7180 als has a life expectancy of 3 to 5 years after diagnosis. I have lost a friend from it and it was horrible seeing someone just wither away like that.
What I love about this is how they go above and beyond to make sure the family has what they need. The family were hoping for a safer bathroom, then George walked in and was like ok, we can do the bathroom, but wait, isn't the kitchen an issue too? Ok then bathroom and kitchen . . . oh wait I heard their daughter didn't want to sleep in her own room so let's fix it up for her.
I just started viewing your programs and I cry each time I view one of them. You must have 2 hearts or just one gigantic one. You make me so happy that I can't have a bad day. This one I recently viewed made me cry a baby. Runny nose and red eyes are not the best look for anyone. @John Texas The families are in the middle of a recorded interview but they are under the impression it's another step in the selection process, they don't know George is going to show up that day.
I know this episode is a couple years old LOL but thank you again so much to George and the team for rescuing my teacher and friend Donna and her beautiful family.
I am so happy that she is still alive. I know of two friends who have passed away from ALS, and it makes me so happy that she is doing so well, for how long she has had ALS. I pray she lives many years more, to enjoy her family. Hopefully, she will be the 5% who lives 20 years from the time of diagnosis.
I need to find out what ALS is, I was wondering and now Im worried ! I could see at the start when they began interviewing, that the lady was looking quite exhausted or something, but never thinking she had a disability and had to be in a wheelchair. That shocked me a bit, Im like ohhh, that exhausted thing, might be just trying to stay sitting up, or maybe she is also in pain, poor thing. This is why I need to see what it is, cause I really have no idea
@Montserrath Agraz Thanks, I havent heard of this before, but the name sounds similar to multiple sclerosis, (a friend of ours has that) like some kind of sclerosis -if that's the part that describes nerve "sheath" damage... The other part might be the where or what area it affects...? I dunno. I'll have to look it up, but cheers thanks again.
@@jujujewel2172 ALS survival rate is 3 years, some people survive 5 years and in some rare cases up to 20 years, while MS is not a terminal illness but a lifelong condition.

I know I'm late to the party, but I must say that George is by far the best home remodeler in a series. He takes what the home owners need and makes the home nit just functional, but beautiful as well. The fact that George starts out with one project and ends up with 2 or 3 just because he saw a need. This started out with a bathroom to help this wonderful lady and ends up making their entire home accessible for her. I'm just sorry she passed away.
I love George to the Rescue, but I especially love it when Tyler Wisler is involved. He makes everyone laugh and he is super brilliant. He IS a ROCKSTAR!!!!!! My heart breaks for this family. 😗George you're Heaven Sent!!! I'm crying like crazy because I understood her regarding being able to simply "wash your face or hands". You can't imagine unless you're in that type of situation that you can perform a simple everyday task and for anyone who cares enough to help you achieve that 😢....So, I say Thank You with everyone else and GOD BLESS YOU😚.
I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis a Variant of ALS. In other words it's the slower version of ALS and that I can live longer with it. It will be 9 yrs this November since I was diagnosed in 2012-2013. Prayers and hugs to you and your family.
I love how George always walks right in & surprises the people he’s rescuing. They always think they’re just filming to have a possibility of being on the show & then he just walks right in, in the middle of it & shocks everyone. Simply amazing! George taking that test was so cute & comical, I started dying when the camera man started shaking the camera to say no. 🤣💀 Edit: The video of Zooey for the daughter was amazing & the fact that she gets to go see a special screening of her favorite movie is outta this world. George always seems to go the extra mile for these rescues, it really proves that he absolutely loves what he does. He’s such a kind, sweet, caring man with a huge heart, we need more people like George in the world! Oh I forgot to mention funny, he’s funny too! LOL.
I saw a few editions of restorations for people on wheelchairs and I noted that they dosn´t ask people at the same condition so the design that they made not always works. For example, 19:04 at the bathroom, the sink it´s in the right place, but the mirror it´s high. Somebody sitting in a wheelchair can see himself at that mirror (I think). Love the show.
So sorry to hear of Donnas death. She loved her husband and daughter to the fullest. Love her comment about her daughter hearing her heart from inside and outside. R.I.P. Love and light to all.
That was amazing, the kitchen worked out awesome, and the little girls room was delightful, just loved it. I enjoy the whole demo gut out and redo stuff, and how they totally transform spaces, the bathroom was like a resort, not "disability-like" at all, (when I think by comparison, of an actual holiday park bathroom with disabled access Ive looked at before, it was too hospital like.) I would love to see more of the design process, though, with that and the rest and how things changed where they moved walls, just in a final run through, or look over, of what was gained by the restructuring, was it all to free up more space in the bathroom, because that was the main room they came to do, or did the kitchen part just make it more accessible in manoeuvring through, because initially it was either/or regarding where, which area to take space from Also I love design and decor and every part was so awesome, you seem to.just get a glimpse, it goes too quickly, or is it just me... That design dude is my favourite, too bad his feature wall got covered up fair bit by the dressing table chest/dresser and mirror
