Oh man, I would absolutely love to see this again....Had so much fun watching this over and over with my eldest, when she was a pre-teen.......This is very very funny...Also Vincent D'nofrio makes quite an impression as Thor / the mechanic lol...In Australia it was called 'A night on the town' I think it was....Great old fashioned fun...:D

Adventures in Babysitting - While cruising through the options on TV last night, I noticed the movie Adventures in Babysitting. This 1984 movie tells the story of somebody who unexpectedly winds up babysitting for 3 kids. A series of adventures (thus the title) ensue for lead actor Elizabeth Shue (rhyme intended) as they run from various criminal elements in Chicago. The movie, set in Chicago, was written by 1980s movie icon John Hughes. The director was Chris Columbus. He went on to do Home Alone. That gives you an idea of the kind of humor.

I was reminded that I had laughed very loudly during a particular scene when I first saw the movie. Shue and her 3 charges are running from the bad guys through a back alley in Chicago. The only way out leads through a door in the alley. They step through the door, and directly onto the stage of a blues club.

On stage, real life blues player Albert Collins is finishing up a song. Shue's character apologizes for interrupting, and attempts to walk off stage. In one of those totally improbable situations you find in some comedies, Collins tells her, "Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues". Shue's character doesn't know what to do. The audience is starring at her as the silence lingers. So, she finally introduces herself to the crowd. Collins' reaction at that point is what made me laugh so hard. Yes, it may have been just me, and I've always liked Collins, but it came as a complete surprise.

That brings me to another item. I often see resemblances between people. Many times my daughter has heard me say, "Hey doesn't that person remind you of...". I have often thought actors Elizabeth Shue and Kelly Preston looked a lot alike. OK, they aren't Bruce Greenwood & Sam Neill close, but they are similar if you don't know them well.
Wow the movie of my childhood 😊. I remember seeing the movie’s title on the marquee of a theater in Times Square. Nostalgia is a mtf 😮
