A man who was one of Indonesia’s high-ranking police officials was sentenced to death on February 13, 2023, for murdering a fellow officer who had served as his bodyguard. Former inspector general Ferdy Sambo was found guilty months after Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat’s death, which was initially portrayed by the force as the result of a gunfight with a colleague.

Just if you want to know, the court itself takes a long time like a serial drama. Slow process, losing some evidence and so on. I'm a journalist and tired to update those unnecessary information from the court. Meanwhile they work so fast if the crime suspects is from middle-low class people.

For all of you, this happens because of 2 factors.
    1. The power of public
    2. Attention from the highest power, which is President.
The combination of the two things above generates high amounts of pressure on the Chief of the Indonesian Police. And also gave him superior power to do what needed to do including drop his high-rank colleague from his position to make the investigation possible.
Back then or up until now, it is impossible to accuse even a middle rank in the police department even if the victim speaks along with evidence and solid proof.

As I sat in my office reading the news about the high-ranking Indonesian police official who was sentenced to death for murdering a fellow officer, I couldn't help but reflect on the importance of upholding justice and integrity in our daily lives.
It's easy to fall into the trap of corruption and misuse of power when we are in positions of authority, but we must remember that our actions have consequences, not just for ourselves but for those around us. It takes courage and strength to do what is right, even when it's difficult or unpopular.
We must hold ourselves and each other accountable for our actions, no matter how high up we may be in the chain of command. The greater the responsibility, the greater the need for ethical behavior. Let us not forget the impact our actions have on those around us and on the society we live in. Let us strive to always act with integrity and uphold the values of justice and righteousness.
