I see you like Joe! I have a youtube channel that I think you'll like as it is similar to Joe's! Please watch my newest videos and leave a comment if you like it. Just looking for some feedback, thanks!😃
Anyone else feel so happy to see TH-camrs like Joe use the platform in a positive way such as promoting olds trades, especially after all of the negative press TH-cam has got from the media. I was fortunate enough to meet Princess Anne in February because of my work with the Pony Club and promoting the charity through my channel as well so I understand how you feel when you said you were nervous when meeting Prince Charles!

Videos like this from Joe really just prove how humble & true to himself he is, it's so nice to see someone of his status in their 20's be passionate about an old craft and so excited to meet a royal. He doesn't feel the need to take the mick out of himself for still being passionate about it either, it's so encouraging. I am proud to say I am one of the viewers who has been watching since your very first video Joe, you're a true delight to the TH-cam community
Brilliant, Joe! Keep thatching! I’m an apprentice tin smith at Colonial Williamsburg. We have a huge historic trades department here to keep 18th century techniques from disappearing - everything from blacksmithing to shoemaking to brickmaking to millinery. We’ve hosted apprentice wheelwrights from the UK a few years ago. It’s so important to keep these skills alive! Thank you for your work on TH-cam to do this - it’s the exposure these trades need to introduce new generations of tradesmen and women. 😊
I remember watching a video with Joe showing us how he thatched roofs. I am so glad we were able to see more of it. I wish we had thatched roofs in America! They are beautiful!
I love this. I'm going into museum science and artifact preservation. To me this is preservation of a living, breathing, professional artifact. It's so cool to see it going strong in England.
I’m so excited that you returned to your roots! I’m a skilled trades promoter in Ontario and I’m so happy that you’re sharing how prideful the trades are. I would like this video 10000 times if possible!

Amelie Rose "Oxfords, not Brogues" is what immediately came to my mind. I don't know if you've seen the first Kingsman movie though, but that is said a handful of times in the movie.
Natasha Childers whoops, that's what I meant!! That's why you shouldn't get distracted halfway through writing a comment! 😂 thanks for pointing that out for me, hope you have a lovely day.
Amelie Rose haha it's all good. I know not everyone has seen it so I figured I should explain a little just in case it was taken any other way than I meant it.
Congratulations on meeting Prince Charles & Camilla. You're a great young man. You should be very proud of your accomplishments Joe! Cheers mate. Sending positive vibes your way. PEACE LOVE & DREAM'S!🇨🇦 💞🌐📷🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌍💛🌎💜🌏🎭☮☁💖🎬😉
Glad you’re still interested and involved in such an old trade despite your TH-cam success! The countryside and all its glory needs a platform like yours to showcase all the hidden talents and trades that go on!
My dad is a thatcher and I always feel such a big amount of pride whenever you talk about your thatching background because it’s such a beautiful old practice and not many knows about it.
So proud of you Joe for being such a wonderful mentor to so many regarding bringing back these nostalgic trades. What a delight to meet HRH The Prince of Wales.
I've really been loving Joe's videos recently. I'm glad that many TH-camrs are posting less, but there content has become so much more meaningful. This makes my day.
I LOVE this! Esp the part with your dad and uncle brushing up on your thatching skills. I remember watching you in the old days when you showed us a day at work, thatching roofs. It's as fascinating to watch now as it was then. And in a way, it seems you haven't changed all that much, even though you live a different life these days; you're still a lovely, decent, funny, down-to-earth guy. Very proud of you.
That’s super awesome you had that opportunity! As always thanks for sharing something you’re very passionate about and I think it’s a really great trade that people all over the world can appreciate💕
Wow, your impression of Caspar was absolutely brilliant! I wouldn't be able to tell if it's you or he who is speaking... If sarcasm goes right over your head, please abstain from replying.
I see you like Joe! I have a youtube channel that I think you'll like as it is similar to Joe's! Please watch my newest videos and leave a comment if you like it. Just looking for some feedback, thanks!😃
Awww. Love that Joe is still this humble, down to earth person even with the TH-cam fame ❤️ Not to mention how he uses his channel as a positive paltform for his fans. ✨
This is amazing!! I think it’s fantastic that you are promoting the “old” trades, because they are still needed for historical buildings plus, people are interested in using the older ways again because it’s better for the earth. I would love to see a thatched house where I live but I don’t think Ontario (Canada) has any. We probably don’t grow the type of grass (?) that becomes thatch, but my husband knows well that if there was ever a way we cohld find a thatched home here, it would be ours :) Way to go you guys!! It’s beautiful to see the older skills being needed and used again. They’re often better than the new ways and they definitely add character to a home that modern looking homes are missing. :)
This made me so nostalgic, and so happy! I’ve really missed the thatching days, when you would vlog with your mates. Especially remember when you were driving in a car listening to Rudimental, it just seemed so lovely and fun.
I love how interested Prince Charles is in things. I was once on a camp and HRH was meant to come in and say hello to us, but instead, he stood and watched us participate in many different activities from a distance (not to far, you could still tell it was him).
Sometimes I regret going into marketing/retail because I always loved to things with my hand and building things and it’s just so cool to be able to build something from scratch!
Megan Stott that's so cool! I know Nick Mason lives here and I've been to one of his annual garden parties, maybe I'll see Camilla too :) did you know Joe's mum has a hair salon nearby?
I see you like Joe! I have a youtube channel that I think you'll like as it is similar to Joe's! Please watch my newest videos and leave a comment if you like it. Just looking for some feedback, thanks!😃
ok I had NO idea what thatching was, but now that I know, I think it's lovely to see someone has a skill like that :) Congratulations on meeting him and making him laugh! 💎
You should be proud of how you are hanging on to the roots. Glad you could meet the prince!!!!! As you said...it is important for everyone to realise that it's OK to do something old...to do something different... The way we have been forgetting these little things is sad. Them old traditions/ practices are the foundations of the present. And it is a shame on all of them people who are embarrassed by them.
I have met prince Charles, we did a Welsh water project in primary school. He came because he was shocked how we prevented floods around Llanelli, so he came to our school to talk to our principal about it. We all met him and shook his hand 🤚
When I came, I thought as you as a normal youtuber, who just wants to make peoples day. And you do, but look at yo now. 8.2 million subscribers, you've met Prince Charles. You done a lot.
I love Wiltshire, my ex said it’s God’s country! It is a beautiful county, and I just am in awe of the work that goes into a thatched roof! They are so beautiful. I live in Portsmouth now, nowhere near as nice as any place in Wiltshire, but needs must. Anyway I imagine I’m among an army of much older ladies who have seen you on Strictly and decided to take a look. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far and I’m not surprised your lovely grandparents are proud of you, I’m sorry but much as I think you’re a “nice young man” I’m rooting for Stacey, but I have subscribed to both your channels, if that’s any consolation 😁Take care.
Im a window cleaner. Came across the job by accident and love it. its great pay and the more you work the more money you can get. going Into a trade is the best way to go
It's such an honour to meet the future king who's first in line to the throne and the father and grandfather of the next future kings and Queen in line to the throne proud of you Joe you are so lucky to meet him I'd love to meet the royal family but I know that's never gonna happen but yeah great vid
I am probably not going to become a thatcher myself in the future, but I still very much enjoyed seeing how someone conveys his knowledge about something to others and gets them to think about whether they’d be interested in doing this themselves or not.
Honestly I am so happy that you did this video because I (portuguese) had an english test yesterday where the big interpretation text was about a thatcher and I was the only one there who, after the test, didn't have to ask "what is a thatcher teacher?" I just felt good to know bits about british trades and it makes my day that you still cherrish it
This is such a good and important video...honestly Joe you’re a perfect example of somebody who uses his popularity in the best possible way. Well done 👏🏼
My dad was reading the newspaper and this video was in it but I was on holiday and couldn’t watch. You wouldn’t believe how excited I am to be home now so I can watch this 😂😂😂
Joe is the most inspirational human in the world. He is very entertaining and he knows how to do his job.I don't think he is going to see this but I am his biggest fan!
This is incredible Joe! Bet you were nervous, but you looked like you were playing it pretty cool. I am part of the Prince’s Trust, and my life has already improved so much x

Amelie Rose Haha it's all good. I wasn't doing it to correct anything. I just thought of the movie because it's one of my favorites.
Natasha Childers the series are two of my favourite movies of all time too! I think that's why I'm annoyed at myself for not realising what I said!
Amelie Rose haha it's all good. I know not everyone has seen it so I figured I should explain a little just in case it was taken any other way than I meant it.

I love how Joe stays true to his roots and has kind of a plan with thatching as a backup job. It makes him seem so much more humble and relatable.
I love your dad’s accent! I’m going to miss the West Country accent so so much when I go back home to Australia after 6 months in Bristol 😥😍
This is such a good and important video...honestly Joe you’re a perfect example of somebody who uses his popularity in the best possible way. Well done 👏🏼

Love the videos Joe xx
I love how Joe is clearly still passionate about thatching after so long. It’s nice to see people enjoying trades like this that aren’t very popular nowadays.
