    The singer David Draiman is portraying how society thinks we should act and look like, like a mother constantly scolding her child for being "different". The songs about being yourself, who you are, and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

      @@nathanielstasiowski7358 Down With The Sickness by Disturbed - Songfacts
      This song is about how society treats people who are "different." A lot of people think they are "sick" and "wrong" and want nothing to do with them. In the middle of the song, lead singer David Draiman acts out a skit where he is being abused by his mother (not in the radio version). Finally, he builds up enough courage and hits her right back.
      Thanks for playing Nathaniel STASIOWSKI

    It’s about being an outcast and having the mainstream culture bully and discriminate against you,mommy is a metaphor for the mother culture of mainstream society, his mother didn’t abuse him,David Draiman (the singer) has explained it in interviews

    These are real feelings that some of us feel. I was abused physically by my mother, so this song hits the zone.

    Everyone can tell you about what this amzing song is about and they all right, this is what it means to me it's a metifor for self awaking and has telling the world it can't control him anymore, mommy is a math for for everthing that has controlled or abused you, this song is one of the reason I woke myself up don't take the lyrics for face value it's not about any one person but everything that hurts you

    I'm glad you did the long version. The look on anybody's face when he really starts going in on his mom at the end is classic. Coming from a mother same type as him I can totally relate and that is why this is my jam

    Anger issues is an understatement. He is ANGRY about the world today. He said that now that he has a kid he’s angrier than ever. He also has a great relationship with his mother.

    This is one of the most passionate songs I've ever heard in my life. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Especially this full version. I can't tell you how disappointed I get when a reactor does the short version, that skips the whole "Mommy" part. It's such an important part of the song. It's just worthless without it, TO ME.

    However, the band has disavowed that this song is about literal child abuse, and that it is instead about a metaphoric abuse. Lead singer David Draiman explained to the Phoenix New Times:
    ...the screamed psychodramas in metal hits like "Down With The Sickness" ... are merely inspired by personal history, not a literal journal of his own tortured upbringing. "I'm really talking about the conflict between the mother culture of society, who's beating down the child yearning for independence and individuality, and the submission of the child."[9]

  • @mattparker1078
    @mattparker1078 ปีที่แล้ว

    It has nothing to do with bullying .it's about the loss of one's mental sanity living in a world with sadistic people who think they are morally justified by their own actions and realizing we are the monsters inside and losing yourself because the other people in your life "aka your mother " was abusive and you realized the world is a sick place with sick people filled with madness and that everyone ..EVERYONE is sick inside .
