      ***** its about it all now a day really even beatmatching.. yea a decide amount of dj do use sync but those are usually the ones who became famous from they're songs and than have to learn how to Mix and beatmatch and everything else in a short amount of time and so they get use to using sync which its kinda gay but w.e and than you got dj's who became famous more because of they're mixing and being about to basically remix live and do all that fx track selection and play a ton of songs in a short amount of time but can still do it with out using sync. so its really just a huge mix between legit DJ's and Producers all depends on how they got into the music industry. lol pretty fucked tbh :)

    Pioneer is chasing the fad instead of setting the standards, like they USED too. Why even have platter if it's just button pushing? And seriously, 4 decks….for what? Loop 4 samples and hit sound filters. lol. You should save the $12,000 on that setup and just get Ableton. If you want to be a DJ too, get Serato or traktor and you can do all this stuff on the fly….alot cheaper…and get to pick the controller or turntables you want to use. Pioneer, you are killing the DJ industry.

      I mean I get where you’re coming from, but it’s not LL’s fault. Pioneer told him to “showcase the quantize” and that’s what resulted in all the weird button mashing which made it sound bad. Otherwise LL is an absolute mad lad DJ

  • @TargetAcquisition
    @TargetAcquisition 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Uh….playing tracks that you MADE…all made at the same tempo….by pushing a button….is far from hard. He's a good producer but COME THE FUCK ON!! This is what Ableton does. You make the music samples all match BPMs and then export to mp3 and load on your decks. How is that hard?

      Paul Lindquist yes usually he is a really good dj, in my mind too ! but in this mix, cmon. just listen to the first minute.. wth is that ? the failed looping at the beginning, than the delay is ok. the pitch down effect also. than the failed looping again. than wtf at : 1:24 he slows down the track + pitch .. does this sound good in your ears cmon ?? let's wait. i'll open up a channel, not under this name but i can send you a private message when i'm finished. but first i will finish the aftermovie of a party a were so that's the perfect start for my channel. and there you can see my mixing skills. he is better than me, that's logic but not in this mixing. for me this mix sounds like i am hanging with some dj friends and just loling around a little bit.

    The samples are all the same 130BPM and looped. The CDJ Nexus he is using has SYNC on it so there is no worry about them getting out of beat. Don't worry about shit like this. You can learn to beatmatch and make epic music without gear that does it for you.

    Try doing that with 4 tracks all different BPMs, no buttons to push, and on the fly. It's called DJing. And the fact it has SYNC lock on is even worse. No skill needed to keep it on time. Just mash buttons and twist knobs

  • @SP-05055
    @SP-05055 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    or maybe they recorded multiple times so that they could pick the best shots to use for the video. and they happened to include one where he changes the knob quicker or something.
    i dont know for a fact but it seems i like good explanation.He is more than capable of doing this all in one take. He did an hour mix for dj sounds with some of the same track and it was almost perfect.

  • @VJbasti

    1. If I want to make such performance I buy live eqipment/ableton.
    Don't get me wrong I love Pioneer products, but this isn't a CD Player anymore like most DJ need it, it's a music/editing machine.
    2. Don't hate about syncbutton.It's not to hard to learn beatmatching but in a 4 deck mixing situation I think it could come in handy.
    3.Laidback Luke; as we can see another Superstar DJ that doesn't know what red leds on the mixer mean.
    All in all awesome gear. I hope price of the 2000 will drop now

    THere is nothing wrong with using sync, sync enables you to mix in songs at a much faster rate, LBL has already admitted to using Sync in his rekordbox sd cards. I wish syncing, was more DJ accepted these days i understand with hiphop its a necessary sill, but most of any EDM within the same sub-genre has the same BPM, i.e. all house is 128. Also any 5 year old can beatmatch, just because you can't do it doesn't make you a lesser DJ than someone else who does

    For whatever reason you seem to have some vindiction against laidback luke where you feel the need to rip on him. This was a demo of what the new cdjs can do. Grow up bruv and dry your eyes, it was a fun little routine. This is what it comes down to, he makes more than you, he's happy doing his work and he spreads the message of love and peace. ANYbody who just wants to share happiness is a good person all around. THAT is what it comes down to.

    yeah i'm only 3 days old to DJ'ing and i've got beatmatching mastered. it's boring. way too easy.
    the challenge is picking songs in the right harmony to build up and drop. it aint easy at all. even 2 songs that are remotely close to each other sound like shit when you cut into one at the drop. that takes skill. it separates a good DJ from a great DJ. lol who knew the hardest part would be something that doesn't even require the hardware... picking perfect set lists.

    I've got a friend that uses Serato and he's the one that pointed it out to me. Anytime those guys start hearing the beat slip, they adjust the pitch fader while watching the Serato waveform screen. The wider transients in the display will signal your bass beats. I do agree with you though that sync alone does not line up two separate tracks properly; you need a human ear for that.

    then they wont learn but it wont matter as they wont make it into the big time as they would need to have the basic skills. just think what would happen if they got a job djing and they went to a club without these decks or any others without a sync on them. they gonna be fairly screwed. i work in a club and we had a dj in last nt that didnt have a clue he was a laptop dj yet his system wasnt working so he had to use ours. he was so shit that the club was empty within an hr an he was cancelled.

  • @andrewsteadman1776
    @andrewsteadman1776 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    He's only using the sync because its a new feature and was prob asked to use all the new features. I dont think he or any of the other top dj's out there would use it to simply beat match. That's even including Guetta cos he would surely have to have the deck turn on for that to work lol. Joking aside even if you do use the sync to beat match you still have to have a basic knowledge of what the art of djing is about to really get proper use out of it.

    Not your average joe that's for sure! But Clubs do invest into a *fair* amount of DJ technology because of the bookings and so on (maintenance is an issue on its own but it's not the point) and also you'd be amazed by the leasing companies that make some serious cash out of buying these and renting them for parties... If you know anyone in there you can get a seriously good deal.

  • @TheBSideDJ

    that's not at all the point of this video, it's just to show new uses created by evolution in technology in a short vid... come on, as a dj you should know. F'course you don't mix like that in a long set and 'f course there's a difference in style and everyone brings or listens to whatever strikes his/her fantasy...you wanne keep on playing vinyl ? fine... you wanne learn about new digital application ? fine as well.

    I know Laidback Luke is a well talented DJ.. seen him do sick things on older models of Pioneers, but that mix was quite messy and noisy.. Some sections were good.. but I don't think he did the new gear any justice, in comparison to DJ's like DJ Eat's Everything on a different demonstration done by Pioneer.

    I have to agree with him, The size is too big, Why spend so much on the nexus when you can get the CDJ-900 which works Just aswell for half the price in my opinion its better., I've been a dj for 4 years, And Iv'e tried pretty much every piece of DJ equipment out. And I live off student loans. I don't even have my own kit.

    hey!!!!!! this goes for everyone who says laidback luke and the mix is bad. First this isnt a mix is a performance, if you doesnt know the difference here it is, this was created to show all the new capacities of the cdj 2000 nexus, not for dancing or something else, thats why its to short, and if it sounds bad to you just remember this is a performance not a concert, not a mix,

    That's Slip Mode and some combination of Forward/Reverse play. When the wheel stopped spinning he let off the direction switch. Watch his other hand, he's holding it down during the backspin, then let it off on the downbeat. Instant return to where the song would have been if played normally. Check out some of the other 2000nexus videos that talk about slip mode.

    Hey guy below David guetta has been a Dj longer than 90% of the top Dj in the world he's being dj'ing for a long ass time and way before dance music was cool in the USA again so stop hating and saying negative things about guetta because he's paid his dues way before Luke has . And I think Luke is a dope ass Dj btw

    I hate when DJ's are obviously not musicians, because then usually you'll get what he's doing, where you butcher the sounds, but it's not in time. Even though theres a quantize button, you still need to do it semi well. I like Laidback Luke, and he's good, but for geesh sakes, do well on Pioneer's demo video.

    Turntables can't do 90% of the creative stuff you can do on modern cdjs and midi devices. Turntablism is a totally different beast: turntablists, CDJ users and controllerists all have different skills and all are talented and respectable creative avenues. Unless of course you're the press play DJ, which those exist on all media formats...

  • @DjFusion86

    those who cry about the sync button shouldn't even use CDJs, if you complain about sync you should complain about all the feature that makes djing easier like loops, or hots cues, if you think syncing instead of beat matching is cheating try to compare using the loop button versus doing manual loop using the pass-pass trick

  • @overlordsnuffles

    In my honest opinion what's the problem with laptop djs their doing their things. Guess what and all the "real djs" are doing their thing. I plan on actually djing, but it's so fucking expensive. I don't think it's the people at fault for taking a far cheaper route. bitch at the industry for making it so expensive.

    only people who never used the 2000 Nexus would say that, if you used them yourselves you would know how awesome they are ... cdj 2000 Nexus + djm 900 Nexus are like 1 000 000 better than all the Controllers together if you can use them correctly ... so much stuff i can only explain in german

    Being a DJ is just as much about the looks as it is about the skill.
    We're entertainers. We want to look and sound like the flyest shit. 10 grand is ALOT of money, but hey, it looks good as fuck. Not to mention that Laidback Luke is one of the world's finest DJs.

    for you that are wondering how he did the backspin thing..its a new feature on the nexus cdjs that the song will still keep playing as you are scratching. Check out the review Ellaskins posted on these..its actually pretty interesting how many fuckin features the new nexus 2000 has. ;)

    LL is an awesome dj, sure he makes some mistakes but that is because he doesn't bring a pre recorded set like guetta. He just gets up there and does whatever he thinks will work and clearly it is working for him cause he is far more successful than you will ever be!

  • @cjdawdj
    @cjdawdj 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    didn't say he doesn't! just saying it's kinda silly to imagine that anyone other than him is using it the way its intended.
    about 50% of "pro" dj's could spend 500 dollars less on tables and get the same shit they do already
    disappointing because this is actually amazing, so much talent and skill

    ever the SL1200 were so expensive and that if it was the real art of DJing!!!. I think that this player are so nice; but... really, really needs so many effects that you use infrequently? and that the "sync" it kills the essence of dj. I prefer my Technics Sl 1200 mk2 with traktor and my CDJ 1000.

  • @Anonuser95
    @Anonuser95 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    still the pitch bending and pitch sliding are in use in all software however in vdj and traktor the software is going to tell you if you are on time(completely different from beatmatching) serato is more old school you have not that aid i use traktor with 2cdj2000s and djm900 and 2 f1s

  • @wowerman
    @wowerman 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you are right about that, problem is that old days decks had much less function to create good mix, nowadays you have plenty. i do not have sync buttons but now maybe djing is more about creativity instead of wasting time to beatmatch.
