Actually I drive a 318 Mopar V8 and used to drive a 265 Hemi6, no rice, just Aussie Muscle. 253s are thong slappers - sound like a v8, drink like a v8, go like a 6. But if you enjoy them, that's fine, each to their own.
hey mate, well i have no problems keeping up or even out accelerating most naturally aspirated cars including late model v6 commodores and falcons. yours should go quite nicely so just be careful you dont put it into a tree or someone elses car.
Why would you bother with a 186? It's boat anchor motor, even the 253 is a piece of crap.... the 350 is the only Holden motor that's even worth working on.
its a 186 with a mild cam, street terra roller rockers, extractors and twin downdraft stromberg carbs.

I'm 15, restoring an EJ with a 186, twin strombergs, extractors, electronic ignition, stage 4 heatseeker cam, yella terra head and 5 speed :D

It’s not a Holden engine.
