I've been on the OmniPod 5 for about 5 months now. I've had two visits with my endo and my A1C has improved both times. The first visit I went from 6.8 to 6.4, the second visit I went from the 6.4 down to 5.8. In the 30 years that I've been a type 1 I've never had an A1c under 6. It's for sure a game changer for me.
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. My mom has had type 1 my whole life. As a kid I always helped her and would worry. I've never known a life without constant anxiety about it. I remember a dr telling her "just guess" for her insulin. My dad passed away this year so my mom moved in with my husband and I and we are now taking care of her. Its like that same extreme stress worrying like i did as a kid, but worse because she is having a hard time remebering/managing it on her own. Im not even 30 and I'm having extreme chest pains and panic attacks over it. She doesn't have insurance so trying to get insulin/the medical supplies has been a nightmare. From her sugar being 500 to 20 in one day. Its terrifying. With all the new medical advancements, I've been having a little bit of hope. I think this would be a life saver for her and we are considering paying out of pocket for it all. Just wanted to say thank you for reviews and opinions on these products. It has helped me so much with knowing there might be something that could help her better. I appreciate it

Also a note pad on controller to keep track of events. Thanks for information.

I hear changing the insulin to carb ratio to make it more aggressive works but If you for whatever reason have to go back in manual mode won’t that mess up your bolus ?
I actually stay in automated mode, then skip the smart bolus. I manual bolus while in automated mode, based off of an aggressive carb to insulin ratio.
Sounds strange but it will rake at least 3 for it to make better adjustments to you. The first pod only takes info and Is basically useless in automated mode.
If you don't take Olympic you might want to talk to your doctor about it. I started taking it and when from using a Omnipod a day to a Omnipod every 3 days.
100% agree with lack of compatibility. S22 Ultra is still not on their list. I overhead as well that the s21 what released some time this year. Goodness, they need to work faster. Also I feel I've had more steadiness with manual mode. Apparently it takes 2 to 3 months for it to really learn you. Then!, if they ever do release the app for my phone. The app will have to learn me again... (that part I'm not 100% sure) but that is frustrating lol.
LJ, Yes. Any time you switch the controller, from pdm to phone, or phone to phone, the entire learning process starts over. It then takes 48 hours for your pod to learn you. The pod internalized the info then sends it to the cloud for the next pod. Which is why the second pod works better. Yet, that process continues on forever. As conditions change, so does your pod along with you. Which can be good or frustrating. I am choosing to leave it in automated mode to test its effectiveness. So far, not to shabby.
I've been on the omnipod 5 system for a month now and honestly I'm disappointed. It fails to do any of things I hoped it would (even after adjusting settings) : it doesn't control my overnight highs, it constantly leaks on the 3rd day giving partial boluses and seems to have no way of detecting that it's leaking which is a huge problem. My average BG is up a solid 15 mg/dl since I started on it. Call me back when they make omnipod 6.
I'm sorry to hear your frustration and good for you, for pivoting back to what works. With a lot of patience, I've had success with this device and have grown to love it. However, we are our own greatest advocates, so we have to stand up for ourselves and go with what's best for us. I'm proud of you and wish you luck in the future.
The Omnipod 5 has a lot of short comings like flexibility of changes, the ui/ux is atrocious. Navigating to certain things is tedious or seemingly hidden.
I've used the medtronic pump for years. Its not the best and really relies on the users experience and performance, but this sounds way worse. "3 robots?" LOL, no thanks...

@@typ3me I changed my insulin to carb ratio to be more aggressive just started sugars are high after meals hopefully I can fine tune it better
Sounds strange but it will rake at least 3 for it to make better adjustments to you. The first pod only takes info and Is basically useless in automated mode.
The one thing I would like is a larger tank. I have never reached 3 days. I only get a day to two days and I'm out of insulin. Just my thoughts.
Good suggestions, Patrick . Or even the option to refill the tank during use.
I agree. I would get about a day out of each pod.
If you don't take Olympic you might want to talk to your doctor about it. I started taking it and when from using a Omnipod a day to a Omnipod every 3 days.
I think you meant to talk about Ozempic. Unfortunately this med doesn’t help type one diabetics but thank you for your advice.
How much appx per month is this setup with insurance?
Hi Eric, With my insurance, Banner Aetna, I pay zero. Each insurance will vary.
Does OMNI work with Libre 3?
Unfortunately, it still works only with the Libre 2
I have more highs with the omnipod
Many cons in my last 3 months
Only 1 pro no constant sticking
Sorry to hear that, it's definitely frustrating. I hope it starts to work better for you.
Navigating to certain things is tedious or seemingly hidden.
drop of liquid or blood in the little window nightmares
It's too costly 😭
Yes it's definitely a pretty penny.
I've used the medtronic pump for years. Its not the best and really relies on the users experience and performance, but this sounds way worse. "3 robots?" LOL, no thanks...
Aeiz, thanks for the comment. I've never tried medtronic, but I'm happy you've found something that works for you. Fewer robots sounds amazing to me. #freethepockets. 😁
@@typ3me ya medtronic was the first one on the market with insulin pumps -- maybe 15 years ago. From my perspective, they've just gotten worse, although they certainly market it as "the technology is better." Better translates to more devices. Not my cup of tea, but hey... maybe we'll see one that does it really well in a few years
@@swimm3r137 FYI, I had a Medtronic pump in the late 1990s! :-)
yeah, medtronic is certainly old and ancient these days. The recent trend is CGM everything. That's fine, but the more devices you need to do that, the less I'm interested.
